I recently visited Matrix Nails at 3419 Orange Ave NE, Suite B, Roanoke, VA, and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired, particularly regarding hygiene practices.
Upon entering the salon, I was quickly rushed to pick a nail color, finally settling on a deep purple that matched my purse. I handed my choice to Tori, who was working at station 7 for the pedicure and station 8 for the SNS dip manicure. My initial concern arose when I noticed that Tori started with what seemed like unclean nail instruments. When I requested that she use sanitized tools, she acknowledged my request but merely cleaned the tools with alcohol before commencing the pedicure.
While the pedicure itself was fine, I was disappointed with the color selection. I expressed my desire for my toenails to match the SNS dip color, but when it came time to paint my toes, Tori selected a dark purple shade that was close but not an exact match. Moreover, the brush she initially used was broken, prompting her to search for a new one.
Things took a turn for the worse when she moved on to my nails. Tori chose a completely different color for the dip manicure, which was difficult to assess until the process was nearly complete. I ended up with a light lavender shade instead of the deep purple I wanted. While the final look was pretty, it was not what I had envisioned.
My primary concern during this experience was the apparent lack of hygiene standards throughout the salon. It was alarming to see that not all stations were sanitized, and I was left uneasy about the use of potentially dirty tools. Research has shown that unsanitary practices can lead to health issues, including fungal infections, and it's disheartening that there seemed to be little regard for customer safety.
Overall, while my nails turned out nicely, the lack of attention to hygiene and proper sanitization overshadowed my experience. I hope Matrix Nails takes this feedback seriously and improves their practices to ensure a safer environment for all patrons. I would recommend considering other salons that prioritize cleanliness and customer health if you're looking for a more reliable nail experience.

Amy is my favorite and who I always make an appointment with. If she isn't available, everyone else does a great job too. I've never had a bad experience.

Shocking and sad how different you’re treated when you ask for a basic service without gel/extras. They lost a faithful customer today.

Let me preface by stating the end result is not terrible. I’ve been here multiple times and the first time was great! The customer service was great, she took her time on my nails and made small talk with. The last three times I’ve realized that if you go when it’s not their down time you’re going to get subpar customer service. I felt the techs were rushing to get the next person in and as we know getting your nails done is a luxury/want. I don’t want to pay for an experience I’m going to rushed through. The last thing that did it for me was that they started using regular clear polish to seal your color. I usually get powder/dip powder and not once has a salon used anything but clear gel and cured it under the uv light. I’m guessing this salon started using regular clear polish and now charges extra for clear gel polish for dip powder. Keep in mind the price didn’t decrease with this change even though they’re using a product less expensive. Safe to say I won’t be back.

First time going here after being referred by local mommies group. Salon is clean. I appreciate they offer a wide variety of services. The techs were professional and I appreciate the price point.
My daughter and I both got dip powder manicures and gel polish pedicures and it cost me just a smidge more than it did last time I went elsewhere and got the same services just for myself.

I have been going to this nail salon for over 7 years now. I use the Dip powder, so I only have to go once a month. I've seen the same nail tech [Twin] every time I walked in or scheduled an appointment. (&& she is absolutely Wonderful). My natural nails are healthy and my feet look and feel great. I have never had a bad experience or even wittiness 1 while there. There are Soooo many different colors and shades of powders and nail polish to choose from. Pricing is whatever you're willing to pay for. The pedicure chairs are relaxing. No long waiting time. No rushed feeling.
Establishment ran smoothly and peaceful. I wouldn't change one thing about my nail day.
Thank You Twin for always doing such an Amazing job

Best nail salon in town! Have never had to wait more than a few minutes, and they go the extra mile for their customers.
Requested style: Can do about anything you want!
Specialties: They also do waxing and lashes. Many others services are offered.
Cleanliness: Always keeping up with the cleaning of the salon and have all the latest products in place for protection.

I have been going here for almost 3 years now I always tip good and never fuss even if my nails aren’t exactly how I wanted them cause I know nothings perfect all the time.
The techs are not the nicest and I’ve kinda just overlooked that however this past time 2 of the girls literally laugh at me cause I changed my mind about getting chrome finish which they said was $15 extra dollars! Literally looked me in the face said something in their language and laughed at me. I felt so disrespected and the other girl Heidi proceeded to walk around and tell other techs and make jokes I guess. (Basically point and laughing at me) I will never be back. SO UNPROFESSIONAL. SO DISRESPECTFUL. SO UNCALLED FOR. Congratulations for being mean girls, real cute
