Absolute waste of time. Took 2 bags and a tote full of brand name clothing with tags they took 2 items for 7.00. Save your time and go somewhere else.

Leighanna is amazing and very helpful! She will help you dress out for whatever occasion or whatever you’re looking for. I had to clean out my closet recently to avoid becoming a hoarder, while still making some space for a new wardrobe… So I sold some clothes today and bought a really nice sweater for the season. It was hard to not spend all the money I just made. They always have great quality clothes, bags, and shoes. I always find what I need and there’s usually options too. Always a great experience!

Every staff member was so sweet and helpful! Special shout outs to AJ and Kaden for welcoming me in as soon as I got into the store and helping me with my clothes. I have been going to Plato’s Closet for years but I am happy to say that I won’t be going back there anymore. Uptown Cheapskate has a very simple and very fast process of purchasing customers’ clothes. The environment of the store itself was just very up lifting. I will be back for sure.

This is a great place to thrift! I have been here many times and have found some really cool pieces. They have a lot of nice brands like Lululemon, Free People, Urban Outfitters, Levi, Gym Shark, Abercrombie, just to name a few. The staff has been super nice too and even offers slight discounts if there’s scuffs/marks on the pieces. Also, I’ve sold with them a few times now and have received the most money compared to other places that I tried. 100% recommend to anyone trying to give their clothes a new home or looking for new
pieces to add!

Absolutely the best place to sell items and I have also found some fantastic great quality and brand name items as well! It’s a bit of a treasure hunt! I am more than happy with $ amount/store credit I receive for items I bring in to sell. The prices are very fair both for sales and purchases. The manager and employees have always gone above and beyond with their customer service and knowledge. I’ve found so many name brand great quality pieces that I can’t even count. 5 star ⭐️’s for sure.

When visiting Roanoke, my daughter and I always enjoy shopping at UC. We always find a few cute items and the staff have been kind. Typically you can find a lot of like new or some brand new clothing. I would recommend.

uptown cheapskate is a must-visit for me whenever i come to roanoke. whenever i have come, the staff has always been really friendly, and i get way more selling my clothes here than what i would get at my local plato’s closet. my only “critique” would be that it may be beneficial to have more people on shift at a time. other than that, i love this place!

Highly disappointed. I went in to sell two bags of fairly new clothes. Name brand clothing items. Fashion Nova, SHEIN, PacSun, American Eagle, etc. None of the clothes were ruined or had stains on them. The associates wouldn’t accept ANYTHING out of the two bags. Not. A. Thing. The clothes I were wanting to sell, are only a year or two old, some less than 6 months old. The employees didn’t take any time to look at the clothes. The lady told me I would receive a text when it was ready. I waited 30-40 mins waiting for my clothes to be looked at until I finally asked if they were ready. Employee wouldn’t even give me a reason as to WHY they wouldn’t take ANY of the clothes. This was 8/23/25 around 2pm.
The employees were rude. They both had bad terrible attitudes and seemed to be in a rush. Just a overall terrible experience.. I suggest management takes a look to see who was working on 8/23/25 around 2pm because this is just RIDICULOUS. I’ve never been to a place whose employees were THIS rude. Please do better. Will not be returning.

Have tried to several times to sell clothes, this time I everything I took to them was brand new. I removed all tags. Approximately 1200 worth of never worn name brand clothing. They refuses everything without a reason as to why. I was there to shop for my daughter first year of college and was ready to spend hundreds. I will not be shopping there in the future. My predictions They'll be closed within the next year places that do business like that especially in roanoke city, dont last long!!

The last 4 times I’ve come to this store, their buying counter has been closed during their listed buying hours. I’ve come anytime between 3 PM and 7 PM and each time the buying counter has been closed. The last 2 times I’ve tried calling beforehand, and their phone line has been down or busy, so you can’t even call ahead of time to see if they’re buying or not. Just take your stuff to Plato’s Closet and save yourself the headache and the wasted time.

Called not even 20 minutes before showing up to ask if they were buying. Was told they would be open until 7 buying until 5 just to show up and be told they’re not buying. Waste of time and gas
