We love taking our dog Goose here!! Before we came here a few months ago, Goose was afraid of water. Now she knows the phrase “do you wanna go swimming?”. She loves it so much! All three pools are awesome and staff is always friendly.

A delightful birthday treat for my dog. This facility is all about your dog. Very welcoming. The dedicated building and pools are only used by dogs. Our trainer, Jenn, was super sweet with our first-time swimmer. She made sure to engage him with play before getting a vest on. She then continued to gently move him toward the water and swimming. Within our half-hour session, he was swimming from one end to the other by himself and promoted himself to the next level pool! We've already booked our next session.

I spent almost all of last summer trying to convince my dog that she could swim, and she was having no part of it. Within 15 minutes here they were able to get her in the water and swimming and by the end of our assisted swim she was jumping into the pool to chase after toys. It was a really great experience and my dog is so much more comfortable in the water now. She actually likes swimming! I'm so impressed with their expertise in getting dogs comfortable swimming. I absolutely recommend them to anyone whose dog isn't comfortable with pools. Definitely worth the drive for us!!

Both myself and my calm fog loved this place. We were going yo fo the outdoor pool but there was some lightning so they preferred us using the indoor pools. We got a half hour and at first my dog did not understand what an indoor pool was. It took some prodding. After a few balls she got the idea and dove like a champ.Outside there is a fenced in large area for ther to go potty. It's best to take them here fist. But I have a really good dog. We didn't think she needed to go as she went a half hour before. So after swimming for 24 minutes she was squirming so I cut my session by 5 munites and she pottyed outside. She is such a good dog and has never even gone in shallow lake water.Great place great dog. There are lovely wild chickens outside. So leash your dog.My dog does not chase animals ever but I lashed her out of respect.

Wow! What a sweet place... and right next door is wild chickens running around. TVery hey have a lovely white picket fenced areas for the dogs to go potty in before or after the swim. My dog is a strong swimmer. We booked the outdoor pool , but it was lighting out that day, so they moved us to the indoor pool. Nova was confused at first as she had never swam inside, but with the toys available, she figured it out!!! This place has a very chill relaxed vibe to it. We had the whole indoor area to ourselves. Nova was so blissed out!! She was tired after a half hour of diving and fetching. We had our own dog vest, but they have ones you can use too. Don't forget your proof of Rabies vaccination, bring the tag or the vaccination vet recept!!! Love this place!!

My dogs love Paws to Swim! They love both the indoor facility and outdoor dock diving pool. The staff is wonderful and understands my nervous dog, so much so that she's actually getting comfortable around them. I love that there is a big fenced in yard they can run around in before or after a swim. We look forward to our weekly visits!

I want to thank Paws To Swim for doing a “make a Christmas wish” for my dog! They were booked until February for an hour swim. If you have ever met Henni, you know that his favorite thing to do is swim. I do not believe he will make it with me on our annual trip to the rivah, where he has been going for 12 years. I live by Wayne Gretzky's words ( you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take ), so I emailed them and told them Henni’s story, and someone volunteered to work late and fit us in! ❤️

Updated: I recently took my 6 year old hound mix to get him introduced to the water. I knew it would be challenging, to say the least. I was prepared to leave if he showed too much resistance. However, the folks at Paws to Swim had him going in no time! He swam well on his first visit, which amazed me, and by the end of his second visit he was swimming like a champ! Well worth every penny!......................What an excellent facility! This was absolute heaven for my 6 month old lab. We wanted an additional way to exercise her and what a great choice this was.The facility is beautiful and designed well for the purpose. Just as important, the folks there have the perfect disposition for teaching dogs. Their experience and structured methods really make a difference. It's no wonder that it's sometimes hard to book an appointment. I certainly can see why they are so popular. My lab started out a bit cautious, but after all the environment was so new and different to her. 5 or 6 treats and a few minutes to sniff around was all it took to get her settled in. 5 minutes later she was splashing through the water and having a great time. Our instructor helped her gain the proper form for effective swimming and her confidence took another boost. By 30 minutes into the session, Dixie was retrieving with confidence and strutting around like she owned the place!I plan to take her once a month and I know she is going to look forward to it. Do I recommend this facility? Wholeheartedly.Book the introductory session and expose your dog to the water in a safe, fun, nurturing environment. Your dog will thank you!

We moved to Richmond about 3 years ago. I remember calling the Patterson Ave (now closed) location inquiring about swimming for my little Italian Greyhound. Gaby answered the phone and I was instantly in love with her. She tried to persuade me to the current location as the pool was not as deep there. How could I go to that location when Gaby grew up with Italian Greyhounds? My dog had never swam and is not a "swimming" breed. My dog has a lot of energy and I just wanted her to try. Was it beautiful and graceful, no. was Gaby amazing, YES! When we started Gaby would swim with her. Even though Berkeley is so nervous Gaby was able to get her to swim. We have now moved to the current location and have progressed to the point that Berkeley will swim by herself. Now my version of swimming by herself is holding the leashing while she "swims." Berkeley will never be a lab and swim like Michael Phelps but she has gained confidence. Most people do not see the dogs that are not excellent swimmers but, they do exist. So, if you are on the fence about trying this with your pet give it a shot. If Berkeley (10lbs) can do it, you can too.PS: This is a family owned small business. Go support them!!
