Bought something on eBay. Tracked it all the way to the Salem post office and then out for delivery. All tracking says it delivered, but it most certainly did not. Waited a few days for it to show up and asked my carrier about it, he knows nothing. I go to the post office and the young lady behind the counter takes my tracking number and address and goes in the back. She comes back tells me the manager says it will deliver to me that day. It doesn’t.Go back in a couple days later and after an hour of waiting on the post office to locate it, they tell me the postmaster will call me. She calls me at the end of the day and tells me that it says delivered to another address but they made contact with those people and it hadn’t been. She tells me to have the seller make a claim through eBay. He does. Claim gets denied because it shows “delivered.”This post office is absolute trash. They lost or mid-delivered my package and have no compensation or recourse for it.Ironically, today I go to get my mail and someone else, who lives 1.2 miles away from me, had a package delivered to my mailbox. At least they will get their package because I know how to read addresses and make it right.

Cheerful, friendly and efficient. Obviously, they're short on staffing, but they keep plugging on.

Packages showing delivered when in reality they’re not and are delayed and still at the office. Carriers delivering packages to wrong address and have been notified about the issue in the past. Seems like nothings been done to rectify any issues, I and residents alike face*edit, package was delivered but was instead placed at the very bottom of the staircase at my complex where foot traffic is high, outside, and at night.

I really hate when they have to deliver my packages I have to search high and low for the stuff I paid for. They leave very important packages by my road where there is a main road up and down the mountain I live on. They can bring the tiniest box up my driveway buy nothing of any importance. They speed up and down my driveway when my kids and or neighbors kids are playing. When asked to slow down they shrug their shoulders and keep going.if I could give a 0 star I would. Highly disappointed!!

Mr. Dave is so helpful! He helped me to renew my P.O. Box during an urgent situation that I had. It's good people like him and his team at that branch are so friendly and efficient in getting their job done and our postal needs met. I can't thank them all enough.

They won't answer the phone, it just goes to a busy signal after waiting a minute.

Incompetent, nonchalant yet paid well with excellent benefits. The Excuse is now days Post Covid: in other words they use thar as an excuse to drag and at times lose or deliver to wrong address. If they run late they just decide to "do it tomorrow". Best thing to do is have UPS deliver your packages, even if it costs a little extra, at least they get the job done.

Delivered pkgs, mail but didn't pick up mail in mailbox. Mail delivery/pickup all over the place & times. No one answers phone at Salem VA office& no post master to handle anything, complaints. There is a young lady who does wonderful job but if she off, it's a mess

For a government agency it is par for the course. The main call center can't relay information to the local branch. Package not delivered but I did get an apology. My son was happy to get the apology instead of his birthday present with a promise its an isolated incident. Also don't set packages outside the mailbox?

I’m left very unsettled with the experience I had today 10/13 at the Salem VA post office. Let me start by saying the woman who was working this morning at approximately 9:15 am was very very pleasant and wonderful to talk to. It was the man who was working at 4pm the same day that made me feel very uncomfortable. I went in to pick up a package so I wouldn’t have to wait for delivery. He told me it was still being sorted which was fine. What wasn’t fine is him glancing at my chest 6 times within a 4 minute conversation. Made me want to hide under a blanket whenever I go somewhere. Very very unprofessional and unpleasant experience.

Edit: I have changed this from a 1 star to a 3 because the Salem branch did specifically reach out to me about this concern. I'm very big on customer service and it goes a long way that they put forth the effort to address with me.I try to leave only positive reviews but today was ridiculous. I understand not wanting to work Sunday but whomever delivered in Bradshaw area off route 311 on 9/25 was ridiculous. I specifically left my front door open to watch for a delivery, was even trying to walk down and meet them half way because I try to be a nice person. But they threw my stuff on a wet, uncovered brick wall beside my garage (a place I never check for mail), and one set of electronics was NOT in a bag of any and it's starting to RAIN!!! They made sure to drive off before I could get to them of course. Wow! I am a super calm person but this left me yelling after them "gee thanks for the rudeness not mention potentially ruining my mail!" Not that they cared obviously. If you can't have common decency for people's things, maybe don't be the one to deliver them.. just a thought

Left a package at the base of my mailbox in the rain on a Sunday. Who looks at their box on a Sunday. We don’t need porch pirates, just curb grabbers. Do it right or don’t do it at all.
