About Bottom Creek Gorge Preserve
Bottom Creek Gorge Preserve is a very beautiful and peaceful place to hike and see nature. The preserve features more than five miles of moderate trails, with some steeper sections, suitable for intermediate to advanced hikers. The trails are lovely, well-maintained, and easy walking, offering lots of beautiful views along the way. Hikers can hear the sound of the powerful mountain stream and enjoy periodic water views from the creek. The stair-step series of broad-basin waterfalls, known as "The Kettles," is amazing to see in person. An overlook for the waterfall is pretty, but the creek bank is also enjoyable. The area is a hotbed for rare aquatic species and critical habitat. Visitors may encounter wildlife. There are no restrooms. Winter weather can impact the road conditions leading into the preserve, and parking is on the road shoulder. It is not too crowded and is a great hike for exploration.

Lovely, peaceful trail through the woods. We hiked the yellow loop which was labeled as 1.5 miles. Moderate, as there were some steeper sections but nothing too difficult or strenuous. We did not go to the falls overlook. Periodic water views from the creek. Easy parking and not too crowded.

I went in the late evening during a weekday and didnt see any one else the entire time I was there. The trail was very peaceful and easy walking. Well maintained. The overlook for the waterfall is pretty, but I enjoyed wondering along the creek bank more than the overlook. I will definitely be back to do some more exploring!
