Update: Just to confirm this review is for the location 6813 Springfield Town Center, Springfield, VA 22150. It appears the owner of this establishment consistently reports 1 star reviews to get them taken away and that’s why in the past 7 month it doesn’t seem to have any new reviews.
I’d like to start by saying that the front desk lady who checked us in was absolutely amazing!
My hairstylist, on the other hand… I hate to come across this way, but I haven’t had a haircut this bad since I was probably 13 years old. She had no idea what she was doing. Even after showing her six full pictures of exactly how I wanted my hair to look, she clearly didn’t understand or just didn’t have the capabilities. If you don’t know how to do a certain type of haircut, be upfront and honest—save me the time and money, and save yourself a one-star review.
Once she started cutting, she asked another stylist for a 1 and 2 guard… That should’ve been my first 2nd red flag. Then, she finished the haircut without ever showing me a mirror. That should’ve been my third. And to top it all off, she proceeded to ask for a tip—after knowing she butchered my hair. Come on!
I take responsibility for going to a salon instead of a barbershop, but I’ve been to other salons where they did AMAZING work. After this, I went straight to a barbershop, and they were able to completely fix it and make it look exactly how I wanted.
Moral of the story: The front desk lady is amazing, but this salon seriously lacks the skills required to give good haircuts.

The customer service at this location is terrible. I came in to inquire whether I could redeem Aveda's teacher appreciation discount in-store on the haircare products. Aveda's website clearly states it offers students, teachers, first responders, healthcare workers and military personnel a 20% discount. One of the two women seated at the desk clearly was in an irritated mood as her tone was curt. She said, "we only offer discounts to those in the military" and asked if I was in the military. I said, "no. However, your website states..." Before I could complete my sentence she stated, "I know for a FACT we don't offer it, but anyway what can I do for you?" Given her demeanor, I knew then that the rest of the customer service experience was not going to be pleasant. I told her to have a good day and her reply was, "you have one too". When I called customer service about her tone with me they informed me her attitude was inappropriate. The customer service representative then educated me further on the appreciation discount. She stated although Aveda offers appreciation discounts, each individual location can choose which discount they will or will not honor. After given that information, I understood why the location did not honor the teacher discount. However, the employee did not convey it that way.
I will not return to this location for two reasons:
#1- The customer service experience is subpar compared to other locations. (I feel like I've gotten this same sorta attitude and vibe before at this location)
#2- This location does not honor the teacher appreciation discount.

If I could give more stars, I would! I made the mistake of cutting my own hair and called—they got me in that day. Sandra was so kind — she knew that I was new to the area and ended up writing down a bunch of ideas for me to check out. Maria fixed my terrible haircut that I gave myself and was so lovely. I look and feel so much better. I’ll be back!

Visited on March 29th, I consulted for almost 2 months with Greg as I have never gotten my hair done and I wanted to do something not too crazy yet noticeable. I decided with Greg (the owner) that I'd get layers and partial highlights, I still was unsure of what I wanted to do exactly as I love my long brown hair and have never had anyone touch my hair, I actually consulted a little bit more with my stylist Gray Sansom!! on my appointment day she was amazing by the way, she was very sweet and gentle!! They both were very patient with me as I was so undecided and the receptionist was so sweet I did not catch her name but she was very nice! I kept asking for their opinions on almost everything and they were very helpful and patient!!
On the day of my appointment I came in a little early and I got seated right away with Gray I would totally come to her again even though I feel bad because I talked to Greg for literally almost 2 months about doing my hair but I was booking so last minute our schedules didn't match up so he put me in the hands of one of his best stylists and I will be coming straight to her anytime I decide to come back and id also recommend her to anyone looking to book!
I have very thick long hair which made our appointment take forever with our highlights and I am usually a chatter box but after our consult as soon as she started on my head I was literally about to pass out fall asleep I was so very relaxed. Gray consulted with me and we decided on just adding some dimension to my hair and since I love the brown and didn't really want to stray away from it we did kind of a nice caramel light brown for the highlights and she also did long layers on my head which I love and the blowout she did made my hair look amazing it literally looked like a video from those instagram stories!! Gray was awesome I would totally book with her next time again!!
I received highlights, toning for my color, a haircut, a blowout (with curlers) and she also set my hair with hairspray but did use a few other Aveda products before the blowout after my wash for only $185!! I was shocked at the service cost as I felt like I came in with regular hair and left with a new head of hair!!
A personal note id like to make is that I had surgery as a kid and I have a huge scar across my head so I was very nervous at first which is also why I have never gotten my hair done but Gray was awesome, Gray didn't make me feel weird about it and she also was very gentle before I even told her about it. I did tell her that its not sensitive per say but it does feel a little weird when the hairs along the scar are kind of pulled she made sure to check on me and kept making sure that I was comfortable! I would recommend this salon to anybody looking for great service and id especially recommend you to book with Gray!!

Aicha did an excellent job by cutting and styling my hair. The ambiance was excellent . The products used are of a high quality. Definitely will go back again to see Aicha Mezlini. Excellent job, thank you!Services: Hairstyling

Just hoping my hair doesn’t fall out. I was at the salon for 5 hours. I have never had a salon experience like this. They even turned me away from the mirror while blow drying so I wouldn’t see the end result after I made several remarks about my concern for the color throughout the process. I have no idea what’s been out on my hair or how this can be corrected with the extent of the damage. I ended the appointment with my hair still wet, not even a complete cut and no styling. I didn’t want any further damage done.The receptionist was still trying to charge me $250. The owner/manager did eventually comp the work, which was the right thing to do. I have no idea how much this will cost me to correct.

Attempted to go in and make an appointment and doors were locked during business hours. I could see 3 employees inside and none even came to tell us if they were closed. Not even close to the posted closing time of 5pm.

Karen did a wonderful job with my updo! She answered my questions ahead of time, practiced on a mannequin so she was confident she could do the style I wanted, and was friendly and speedy. My updo lasted through a long night of dancing, and I felt like a princess. I've gone to Drybar in the past before a big night out, but Artistic Aveda will be my go-to from now on. Love it!

My appointment with Aicha in May was amazing! She was friendly, professional and listened to exactly what I wanted. Her skill was impeccable as I kept nodding off (being a tired mom. )Unfortunately, she wasn't available for my appointment today so I tried Greg. Right from the start I showed him photos of the look I was going for (long layers, same photo I had shown Aicha months prior) and that I wanted shorter face framing pieces. I had hair down to about my waist when I arrived and left with a boxy above nip cut. He also refused to shorten the long bangs I had because in his words "you will want to be able to pull them back, we'll cut them shorter in the fall." Finally, I have pretty thick skin, but he made me feel a bit uncomfortable with his "compliments."The atmosphere is very clean, service is prompt, pricing is reasonable, & everyone (including Greg) is friendly. However, choose your stylists wisely. It was also relayed to me their B-team works on weekends, so if you want more experienced service make an appointment during the weekdays.Overall, I may try to book Aicha again or just find another salon altogether.Service: Haircut
