Brought in our 1985 BMW 524td, as it was stalling and having difficulty starting. Steve welcomed the opportunity to work on the car but noted that the repair work would present some challenges, including that their tech, Alberto, was less familiar with diesels (but willing to try), that it would be difficult to get parts, and that there is no diagnostic tool for a car of that age. He flagged what the likely issues were and that we'd need to go through a process of elimination. Since we had already called dealers and other German auto shops with no interest elsewhere, we took a chance on German Auto Group.
Over a period of two months, they had to order glow plugs, gaskets, a cooling system connector, fuel pump, sometimes from Germany. Each time Steve researched the original 1985 part numbers and then found the best price and quickest shipping possible, using reliable sources. They replaced the glow plugs and fuel pump (with some minor accompanying parts), fixed the starting/stalling issue, and now the car is running like a champ!
The best part was that Steve continuously communicated updates on progress, what we needed next, and involved me in the process.
The labor charge was very reasonable and our car is back on the road!

Hit or miss. They can be cost effective, but in the past have done work for me on some occasions resulting in less than optimal outcomes. Stripped the lugnut for the oil pan, resulting in having to get it rethreaded, due to overtorque. Another time they replaced a seal in the gasket for the valve cover, a very expensive fix due to intrusive nature of fix. A couple weeks later same issue, so they charged more to fix it as an unrelated cause, and what do you know the car still throws a lean mix code with no resolution. Suspect.

DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU LOVE YOU'RE CAR!!
I once took my Audi Q5 for an oil change and when I received the car back, it was leaking oil due to them not putting the drain plug back on properly. Recently there was an overheating issue and a coolant warning light popped up. I had them check it out and apparently I needed to have the water pump and thermostat replaced. This place has a total lack of professionalism and knowledge of diagnosing problems. If you have any German car, I personally recommend you take your car to a dealership or any other respectable shop.

Called and was told to bring my car in for an appointment Tuesday to have the check engine light codes read on our vehicle.
On Tuesday, I called to follow up with paperwork that had been requested to accompany the diagnostic, and was met with a condescending tone from Steve, stating he didn’t need to know how to spell my name or “some piece of paper” for a warranty, but that he couldn’t find our car record of our scheduled visit, told me they would get to our car within a day or two and they don’t take appointments. Overall was extremely rude and condescending, would not suggest any women take their cars here. Also, very unorganized if I’ve dropped my car off and you have no record of it?

The chassis guard of our car suddenly fell off. Here, they helped us remove it for free without charging any fee. They are very friendly. We will definitely come again.

Having work done on this car for over 25 years--and many people trying to rip people off--Sammy's German Auto Group is the best I have seen--honest, terrific service and great help by Sammy, Charlotte, Martha and the whole team. In a world where too many cars take advantage of people who don't know cars--Sammy and Germany Auto Group is a shining light. The only thing they need to do is dramatically expand for all the new business of people who've discovered them, so that companies like this based on honesty and integrity can expand so that everyone can get such great service. Would give 100 stars if possible.

They definitely know me by now—especially Martha! I own a Porsche Carrera 911 and had my maintenance done here even before I bought the car. After the purchase, I had them install an aftermarket exhaust for under $900. Later, I ran into an issue with a hose that took a few days to fix, but it was resolved permanently. They did accidentally scratch my bumper, but they took full responsibility and repaired it at no cost.
Even though I live in Waldorf, I keep coming back because of the outstanding customer service, free pickup and drop-off to the subway, no need for appointments, fair pricing, and—most importantly—they really know how to work on my car.

I’ve been coming to German Auto Group for about 6 years from word of mouth and I can’t say how great these guys are at German Auto Group. Sami and his team are professional and very knowledgeable with Mercedes, BMW and many other European Cars. Steve was my guy who worked with me on my car. He was proficient and always kept me in the loop with what was wrong with my car and how long it’ll take.
My wife took her Kia there and she feels they helped her little Kia as well. Thank you Steve and Sami. I’m always thankful.
