Rooms renovated, staff friendly.
Windows cannot be opened.
I found it bitter that all the hotels on our trip used disposable tableware and cutlery. What a waste generation. Also the selection at the breakfast buffet...you miss breads, cold cuts and cheese or even pure oatmeal.

The hotel and rooms were very clean and the staff is wonderful! We were on the 10th floor and the room was renovated very nicely and the cleaning ladies were great! Miriam who handles the breakfast was wonderful and many options for breakfast like pancakes, sausage gravy and biscuits, bacon and sausage. Jose drove us many times in the shuttle to the metro station was very friendly. The shuttle service was great bonus. Also everyone working at the front desk were wonderful also! Definitely will stay here again!

The room was good, but the air had a muggy feel to it. Shower did take few minutes to get hot. Staff were friendly and professional.
Walkability: There are plenty of restaurants nearby across the street.

Clean and tidy room. Breakfast was very good! Muntaqim at the front desk was super kind and helpful! He found me a super quiet room and took care of late checkout for me. 11/10 for Muntaqim.

The breakfast menu was varied and filled right away, so I enjoyed it without waiting. The hot water came out well, the water pressure was reasonable, and the shampoo and body lotion were good. However, the door was connected to the room next door, so it was difficult to worry about the noise of the kids talking in the next room being heard.

rooms were clean and comfortable. staff was very welcoming and nice and my stay went very smooth, i’m not from the area so it was nice to feel safe and comfortable while traveling alone. the room had a ton of fresh towels, i do think the shower could’ve been cleaned a little more however. that’s really the only thing i noticed but not a big deal at all. breakfast was okay, a lot of selections to cover everything you need, but nothing special. definitely a good price for the area.

For $90 some dollars, this hotel is the deal of a lifetime. Sure, you’re by the freeway, but other than that the employees are courteous, the room was very clean, and the air quality was good (no damp mold smell like in many low price hotels these days). 5 stars.

Honestly, you get such a great deal for the price at this hotel! Very clean, the rooms have been remodeled, and the breakfast selection is so bountiful with lots of options of hot and cold food, esp gluten free options which I personally appreciated. A great hotel for such a good price!

We stay in the Alexandria area several times per year visiting family. We've stayed at this Holiday Inn multiple times and have also stayed at others in the area. This past weekend we stayed three nights. We were happy that we had a renovated room this time, and we always like the breakfast at this hotel. There are many options for breakfast and they stay on top of bringing out fresh food, which is great. We were also staying here during the fire alarm mishap, which although it was an inconvenience, it was not the hotel's fault that someone pulled the fire alarm. This area is convenient to Old Town Alexandria, and there are many restaurants/grocery stores close by such as Trader Joe's, Giant, Whole Foods, Pollo Campero and Chipotle. The people working at the front desk were friendly and helpful. This hotel does have multiple parties, weddings, and events during weekend, and some during the week. During the evening hours on the weekend, it is difficult to find a parking spot. There was someone in the parking lot helping people find a parking spot on Sunday night this time. Even though there are parties, we have not had a problem with noise when we stay here and the room was quiet for the most part. We will continue to stay at this HIE when we come to the area.

Well it would’ve been a good review but I left my charger in my room and when I called about it the person at the front desk blew it off and when I came back to check the room it was gone and no one brought it to the front desk. Which simply means the housekeepers have no integrity

The front desk never answered when you called from the room, you always had to go downstairs. The room keys kept needing to be reconnected despite being kept away from phones, wallets, and any other magnetic sources. The room itself looked old and outdated, and the air conditioner struggled to keep the room cool.
The fire alarm blared for an hour in the early morning on the day we were due to check out. The fire department arrived about 20 minutes later as the staff kept telling patrons there was no problem, "it was just a system issue." When the firemen told us it was safe to enter, I asked if compensation would be possible due to the inconvenience. My travel party and I were now uncomfortable and unsure of the safety. I was told by the manager, "Call the police. Someone pulled the fire alarm. We know who did it." As that reply did not relate to my query, I asked again and was given late check out, which I already had as a Platinum rewards member.
I tried reaching out to customer service but was informed that their "24 hour" text line was closed at 8:22 PM. I tried calling and was left on hold for 40 minutes before hanging up from fatigue. I called again, and the call was disconnected when I was told I'd be transferred to a supervisor.
I plan to sever my ties with IHG and take my business to Hilton because Amex would never.

This “hotel” deserves a 0 star. I don’t even understand how this place has even a decent review.
I arrived at the hotel around 6pm and there was apparently some event going on at the hotel lobby that I as a guest had no idea. Basically there were no parking spots for hotel guests. The front desk literally told people to park across the street where LA Mart is and move their cars back to hotel after 11:00pm.
On top of that, at around 1:00am, the fire alarm started going on. Apparently it wasn’t a real situation but rather a malfunction. This, I found out by calling the front desk rather than being notified by them. The alarm beeped over an hour with most of the guests having to come outside because of the painful sound of it.
The front desk didn’t issue any type of apology for the inconvenience and shrugged it off saying some dude set it off and he had no part to it. According to the staff, a guy from that event earlier set it off. I find it unlikable because the party supposedly ended at 11:00 pm, the alarm went off at 1:00 am. Absolutely no form of apology or accommodation for the unacceptable experience from the staff.
Every single one of the staff that I encountered had the typical “oh I just work here” attitude. When I asked to speak to the manager at 1:30 am while the alarm’s going on, the guy at the desk said he can’t call him until 9:00 am when the manager shows up to work. So I had to get out of my bed in midnight at a hotel I paid over $100 but the manager was too good to be bothered by the chaos ensuing at the hotel he manages.
Absolutely one of the worst hotel experiences ever. Not even sure how this facility fell through the cracks and ended up at IHG list.
