I own a pair of Hartjes. I will not be purchasing any more. As seen in the photo, the leather peeled up from the shoe. And, the leather is as thin as tissue paper. One of the reasons I purchased this shoe is because the leather looked so thick and hardy. Not so!

I had a deeply disappointing experience with Red Wing Shoes, and I strongly advise others to think twice before purchasing from them. I bought a pair of their “ Apex ” safety toe work boots for around $260, expecting the durability and quality they’re known for. However, within just two months of light use, the leather developed holes and the boots started falling apart. When I contacted customer service, they dismissed it as “outside influence” This is unacceptable for boots marketed as heavy-duty workwear. Additionally, the store staff at the location I visited ( Springfield, VA) were unhelpful and provided misleading information about repairs and warranties, leaving me feeling ignored and undervalued. The soles also began separating after minimal wear, a common complaint I later found in other reviews, yet the company refused to honor their warranty, claiming it wasn’t a manufacturing defect.
Warning to Customers:Do not buy from Red Wing Shoes unless you’re prepared to risk wasting money on boots that don’t last and dealing with poor customer service. Many customers report similar issues—soles detaching, leather wearing out quickly, and unresponsive support. For the high price (often $200-$400), you deserve better quality and accountability. Consider brands like Keen or Timberland Pro, which offer more durable boots at a lower cost with better customer support. Save yourself the frustration and shop elsewhere

I just worked with Jay on an exchange and he was fantastic letting me try a bunch of different boots and shoes to find something different. I highly recommend working with him and Red Wing for the best boots on the job site!

Awkward experience. I was at the store and as I walked around to check shoes, the store attendent keeps walking backward. I asked is everything OK? He said he wants some personal space? WHAT? You are serving a store where you interact with people coming in to but shoes and you want 10 feet distance and make patrons unconfortable? I wanted to buy some shoes but left the store. Won't be going there again.

They are comfortable with the insoles they offer for your feet, it helps you better, gives more comfort, there are workers who speak in Spanish for a better choice

I just bought some boots from the #BRUNT brand because my red wing boots are 7 or 8 months old and water gets in them. This location closes early.. very disappointed!! I drove an hour away for a specific boot that they did not have in my area and when arriving here 20 mins early to find the lights off and store closed

I shop here all the time for work. The staff are amazing! They know me by name. They remember specific information about my transactions and make it a much easier and more pleasant experience. The store isn't huge, but it has a great selection. They order the size if it's not in stock, and they arrive promptly.
