I visited this Best Buy today to buy a new phone, and overall, the experience was disappointing. Two of the Best Buy staff we interacted with were very rude and unhelpful. They didn’t answer questions patiently and seemed uninterested in helping us. On top of that, the screen protector was placed very poorly — something that should be basic for a tech store like this.
Honestly, this was one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve had in any store. If not for the Best Buy name and the good deals they offer, I wouldn't even consider coming back or recommending this store.
The only positives from the visit were a Samsung rep who was very polite and helpful, and a Geek Squad member who did a great job. It seems like the technical staff are the ones keeping things running here.
Overall, a very disappointing visit, especially on what should’ve been an exciting day buying a new phone.

I’m writing this in response to the review left by James Steel. With all due respect, it’s frustrating to see someone constantly complain about something as minor as music being played by store staff. These employees work long shifts and use music as a way to stay motivated and keep a positive atmosphere while doing their jobs.
As someone who also works in retail (at FedEx), I can say from experience that music makes a real difference during tough hours. It’s not unprofessional—it’s human. These are likely young workers just trying to get through their day. There’s no need to make their jobs harder with unnecessary complaints.
For the record, I’m not connected to Best Buy in any way—I’m just a regular customer. Every time I visit this location, I’m met with helpful, friendly service. I recently picked up an OLED TV, and the staff went out of their way to assist me with loading it into my car.
Let’s cut workers some slack and focus on what matters: good service and helpful support—which this store delivers every time.

Update for July 14, 2025…. I thought they were done with the whole music thing, but these guys still don’t remember and recognize me every time I come in. there was no music playing at all when I walked into the door. within 60 seconds it turned on more Hispanic music and they’re playing it loud enough towards where you can hear all the way across the store the employees do this every time I walk in it’s almost comical at this point because the whole reason I had a problem with it at the beginning was because I was trying to hear a specific speaker that was looking to purchase
13 September 2024 5:14pm - Wow! I’m actually in shock. I came here to buy the ps5 VR2 headset, a scale, water filter, and hair clippers. There was no music playing. I walked around the store and was able to peacefully browse for about 10-15 minutes. While I was by the scales, the some of the same guys that were turning up the music on 16 August 2024 and recognized me because I was in their section of the store. Guess what they did. They went out of their way to the large boom boxes and turned it up playing Hispanic club music just to try and get a reaction out of me and annoy me! I mean c’mon. Are the workers here that disrespectful and pathetic? I guess so!?!?! April, I would love to get in touch with you.
16 August 2024 - update. So I’m here trying to buy some high end speakers for my home audio system. There’s really loud music coming from the boom box section. It’s loud enough that you can’t hear the person you’re speaking to that’s standing next to you. I turn it off so I can hear the audio demo that Alex was trying to play for me. I hear it go back on and notice it’s some immature store workers doing it on purpose to annoy customers. Other customers and I talk about how rude it is because we are trying to hear the things we intend to purchase. I turned it off again, but as soon as I walk away, I hear it come back on and there’s 2-3 Best Buy workers staring at me by the speaker and laughing.
27 sep2023 worst customer service on the floor ever. Couldn’t find a single personel to help me

Went to return an item and they wouldn't accept it and gave me a shipping label. Called customer service after I left and was told the item should have been accepted. Tried calling multiple times to reach someone at the store with no luck.

Black Friday shopping, very busy, but was able to get what we wanted in a fair amount of time. 2 stars because cashier said I’d get 10% off for signing up for credit card when all I got was 10% coupon I never got to use.
Update:
Came back next Black Friday and wanted to buy and iPad and trade in. Was told no trade in because of Black Friday. There was no way I would’ve known this before coming in. Then I was told I could buy online for pickup and trade in there, but my iPad model isn’t listed at check out, yet it has a value of $150 on the generic website. Very frustrating in store as nothing could be done.
Second update:
Went in yesterday looking to buy speaker wire. When I ask an associate he brought me to an area with auxiliary cables and said “if it’s not here then we don’t have.” I then asked another associate and he brought me to the right spot. The first associate was just plain lazy.

Very over priced, employees avoid talking to you when you are clearly looking for something.

I have to be honest it’s been a minute since I visited Best Buy but they exceeded all of my expectations! I highly recommend them.
Only after 4 years my dryer wouldn’t run. Tried to fix it and that only lasted 3 months. So I had to buy a set (stackable) from Lowe’s online. They were not helpful so after 5 calls trying to sort out my delivery I finally just canceled. I then went to Home Depot. Again mot helpful. The store manager was very young and didn’t even try to help me.
So I went to Best Buy in Sterling. The sales rep didn’t understand what I was asking so he got one of the managers who were extremely helpful and got me sorted out.
I can’t say enough about Alec (sales rep) and Jose Nolasco (sales manager). Give them a raise and make sure they stay at Best Buy!

I recently did a purchase for an Anker Wirless Car Adapter at one of the Falls church locations. I was rung up by the security checkout which I was not asked my information so my item purchased was not in my history.
I was having difficulty using the adapter as my phone kept falling off it while driving. So I came to the location in Dulles, Sterling and was assisted by Aiman. She took the time to listen to my concerns and tried every single way to try and find my purchase without my receipt.
At the end the return could not be done but she offered an alternative. A magnetic case that would work well with the Adapter. I wasn’t aware they made cases this way. She was able to find me a reasonably priced case without spending too much on an adapter that wasn’t working well with my current phone case.
Aiman went above and beyond and was super friendly and knowledgeable. Honestly this was the best experience I’ve had with a retailer store. Most don’t come into contact everyday with an individual who truly appreciates customer service and helping. I cannot wait to try out my new phone case! Very pleased with the service today. I don’t write many reviews but I felt I had to express my appreciation(:

Always pretty clean. And everything is actually organized compared to the other Best Buy’s in the area. They usually have good workers they’re just a bit pushy if anything. Also reminder that all credit cards (even store ones) require a credit check. The kid at the electronics counter didn’t know that ?

I went to the Best Buy in Sterling, Virginia on 6/24/24 to make a return and was told by an employee that he would get someone to assist because only employees can use the dolly. I informed him I had someone with me to help but he insisted that store policy does not permit use of in-store dolly. After waiting for 20+ minutes, I go to the front of the store to follow-up and the guy pretends he never said any such thing about my return inquiry and never spoke with me. Although he was working customer service at the time, did nothing and I do mean nothing to assist (wish I had his name to include in this review). Luckily, 2 of Best Buy’s hardworking young men Alhusian and Manasse stepped in to assist me by removing both items and processing the return. Without hesitation, they immediately started collaborating to problem solve even though returns was not their job. If these 2 young men had “And other duties as assigned” in their job descriptions, I can truly say they provided outstanding customer service in this area. Thanks to those 2 gentleman for turning that bad situation into a great experience!
