I don’t usually leave reviews, but Loudoun Ice Centre deserves one.
We’ve been coming here for two years now. Starting once a week for the first eight months, and then twice a week ever since. While we haven’t attended public skate, hosted a party, or tried the Zamboni driving lessons, I think we’ve participated in nearly everything else the centre offers. Our focus has primarily been on hockey and goalie training.
There honestly aren’t enough stars to rate how much we appreciate this place, the family who runs it, and the coaching staff. The goalie coaching is truly next-level. I won’t name individual staff, but I can say this: in two years, we haven’t had a single bad session. The coaches have an amazing ability to adjust their approach in real-time to fit each kid’s needs! Whether that’s old-school intensity or modern, developmental focus. That kind of intuitive coaching is rare.
As an old hockey dad who played myself, I’m constantly impressed by how well this team excels in passing on the positive aspects of hockey culture, often better than the local clubs do. Maybe it’s because we’re further south, maybe it’s just the people. Whatever the reason, Loudoun Ice Centre has become one of the best resources we could’ve hoped for in our child’s development, on and off the ice.
Now, no review is complete without at least a few cons. However, I had to really think hard.
The minor issues we’ve had over two years are mostly hiccups with the third-party booking software, not the staff. Also, for new families signing up for summer camps, some of the info can be hard to find. It’s mostly because so many families are already “in the know,” and things run smoothly for the regulars. But just ask! The staff is incredibly friendly, and the community of parents is supportive and welcoming.
One last note - more of a heads-up than a complaint: the showers are cold. I took some early-morning “back to beer league” lessons and had to shower before work. Those showers felt colder than when I did Arctic rescue training decades ago. Just be prepared!
In short: great place, great people, and a fantastic experience for the kids (us adults too!) Highly recommended!

Great place to learn and have fun. Best place in the county. Nice coaches that help kids learn. Great instructors and inclusive environment unlike the others in the county.

Professional and friendly staff, excellent with kids. My son has greatly improved as a goalie and looks forward to lessons there.

We had our son’s birthday party here and it was fantastic! From Gabi who patiently helped me plan the event to the extremely helpful and kind staff the day of (Stephen, Eian, and Ilya) I highly recommend this place. We had the ice rink to ourselves for the party, they helped the kids and adults with skates and getting on the ice. We did a combo party where half the ice was broomball so that everyone was able to enjoy. The polar bear mascot came out and skated with the kids. Stephen, Eian, and Ilya decorated and set up the party room for us and it was amazing, they even helped to serve food, drinks and cake to the kids and were very friendly to all guests. The ice rink was clean and it's a nice location.

Our son started semi-private lessons with Coach Eian a few months ago. Coach Eian is a dynamic coach, who pushes my son to his limits, but does so in a fun way. He is always positive, encouraging and supportive. The rapport he has built with my son is strong. He is an expert at ice hockey and is always passing that “hockey IQ” onto my son. Coach Eian is goal-oriented in helping my son learn and grow on and off the ice. My sons coaches in both his rec league and tournament league have noticed a huge improvement in his skills. We have seen an significant increase in his skating speed, the power behind his shots on goal, his scoring ability, defensive play, and his overall confidence on the ice. I highly recommend Coach Eian!

I really loved it! If u take lessons there, you can start learning really well. They like you to try and to persevere (so like... don't give up) and well, just keep practicing :)

Teachers are good, I bought 2 packages right before COVID, we only got to go a few times then they closed for awhile. Opened back up with a different schedule. Darren helped us to get started again.

Super happy with our experience at Loudoun Ice. Our son is just starting his transition to goalie and the instruction from Coach Ian and the rest of the team has been outstanding. The coaches also do an excellent job of having fun with the kids which might be more important than anything. Highly recommend!!

We had our daughter’s 9th birthday party here. The staff was great and catered the whole thing. Kids had a blast skating with fun music and disco lights. Highly recommend!
