The "fresh" produce (peppers, hot peppers, cabbage, lettuce) is frequently close to frozen. Their meat selection rarely makes it to the used by date before spoiling. Always check expiration dates on condiments (mustard, ketchup, salad dressing) because, while infrequent, I have run into "expired" by more than 4 months. Sometimes that matters if you plan on using it for the next 3-4 months.Signs have prices if you use their app, but sometimes don't have a price for what it costs if you rather not stick an app on your phone. I may stop by for a particularly good sale but my regular visits will be at another chain where I rarely have as many issues.FYI Food Lion is close to this location. It is a smaller store with a smaller selection but the prices on average are also smaller.

Waste of time coming here. Google maps says "Safeway Liquor," but ironically, they do not sell liquor.

Get curbside pick for a while now. We had one bad incident in multiple pick up so I think the problem has been resolved. Staff now is very friendly

UN-SafeWay. I'm glad I doubled up on my mask before entering the store. Workers installing a Starbucks have their masks under their noses. The guy putting chips & pretzels on the shelves has no mask on. When I entered the store someone was smoking out front with no mask. When I left an older customer walked in with no mask. As o checked out a customer walked right by two employees with his mask far below his nose, nothing was said to him. I'm sure most customers wear masks but it is the job of SAFEway to create a safe environment. I won't be returning there anytime soon. It should be called UNSafeway.

I love this Safeway! It is my favorite! Their employees are friendly! No wonder this place gets 2 stars but I rate it 5 stars. I would rate it infinite stars if I could. This store is also the closest to my house, but no matter what, it's the best! The part I don't like is the deli, meat, and pharmacy are understaffed. I wish it had more employees. Thank you Safeway for your help!

Always pretty clean and good customer service here. However, not very good at mandating face mask rules during this time. Just saw 2 different families walking around with children and none of the kids had masks on. The parents had masks that were only covering their mouth and not nose. Didn't see any employees approach them about this...smh.

They refused to honor good rx coupon and charged me 3x more. That is bad business. Medicaid covers most of my prescriptions. This one time I had to pay out of pocket I made the mistake of choosing Safeway based on the price shown on the coupon. I’ll be avoiding Safeway pharmacies altogether. Don’t care for being deceived. Ill find a pharmacy in the area that respects its customers since there’s dozens to choose from.

They sell bad meat because they’re short during this COVID crisis. Shame on them

This review should apply to most Safeway stores in the DMV (and GIANT is guilty too) Nothing alienates me more than an item that is made to look like it is on sale (BUT IS STILL A BAD DEAL). Many corporate pricing practices at Safeway ( & GIANT) must see most consumers as gullible pigeons. An "us" against "them" mindset no matter what their marketing projects to the communities they serve. Yes, the standout "sale" label does catch my attention but shortly after taking a closer look I realize: 1.The inflated original price never existed 2.The discounted price is probably what the item should sell for all the time. 3. I'm now walking around with an attitude Today I bought my 400th box of Fudgsicles; I have been buying them every week for years and I know what they retail for at just about every Supermarket in three states. That current everyday price is $3.99 for a big box of 18. That is the price I paid on sale today at Safeway. They were on sale for $1 off. $4.99 - $1.00= BAD JUJU Now, I love Safeway bagels and I think they do a great job in their deli department too. Some of the finest Supermarket Wine offerings can be found day/night at a Safeway BUT You're never going to build a loyal customer base if you employ these tricks. I'll bet most Safeway stores are in lower income neighborhoods or at the extreme other end: where professionals shop/get lunch. I'm going to confirm the suspicion as to why/where their stores are located (as I drive past them).

Found a jar of pasta sauce on their shelf that was quite literally growing green and yellow mold on the inside of the jar. The jar was in plain view for all to see. I live in Orlando so I'm just visiting and stopped by to grab a few things I needed but was surprised to see that. Husband went to get a drink at Starbucks and stood there for a few mins. The barista was sitting around the corner on a chair on his phone (not talking, just scrolling). I saw all the other negative reviews so I totally get it now. Safeway, you suck and you need corporate interference. I have a feeling their corporate sucks, too, though, so it's just a tricking down effect of sucky-ness. How magical.

My 5 star review is based mostly on the pharmacy. The grocery store is fine....it's a grocery store. But, Mohammed in the pharmacy keeps me coming back. He is always pleasant and helpful. One night in particular, I called in a a panic because my husband lot part of his prep kit for a colonoscopy the next day. Mohommed told me to bring in the information from the doctor and he helped me find what I needed from the over the counter items. So helpful!

Notice how despite the plethora of bad reviews, not one has a response from Safeway management? Yeah that should tell you something. They don't give a F@$& about you or your problems (real or perceived) with their store. They know you'll be back time and again since they're the only supermarket option in the area. I notice something about Safeway, though: they are usually located in shopping centers that dont have a lot of other stuff happening (other big box stores), not enough to lure in customers who might want to parlay grocery shopping with other shopping errands. Combined with the fact they are situated in locations where it's too inconvenient for you to go to another grocer, just convenient enough for you to hop on over to Safeway. Like a drug dealer that sells crappy product but hangs out right on your corner.
