I’m writing this review after three separate visits to this inspection station in July for a Virginia state inspection—and I want to start by saying that I fully support the purpose of these inspections. I want my car to be safe just as much as the next person.
During the first visit, my husband took the car in and a few issues were identified. That was completely understandable, and we had no problem fixing what was needed. At that time we were told the headlight bulb needed replaced as well. We chose not to do the repairs at the shop because the pricing was way too high, but again—every business has its own rates, and we respect that.
For the second visit, my dad brought the car back. At that time, we were told the headlight bulb didn’t need replaced—the entire headlight assembly did. Based on that information, we replaced the entire headlight and believed we were all set.
When I took the car in for the third visit, I was told there were four new issues—which came as a complete shock. My immediate reaction was confusion and frustration. I had already paid for and completed everything they told us previously. To make matters worse, the inspector told me there was no record of my car ever being there, despite the fact that I have documentation for all three visits and payments.
What’s even more concerning is that after taking the car to a trusted mechanic for a second opinion, I found out that two of the four new items it failed for did not actually need to be repaired.
Had all of the original issues been identified and clearly communicated during the first inspection, or even the second, I wouldn’t be writing this review. But instead, I was given inconsistent information, different stories from different inspectors, and essentially started from scratch each time. That’s not just inconvenient—it’s unacceptable for something as official and regulated as a state inspection.
I also can’t ignore the feeling that, as a woman handling this final visit myself, I wasn’t taken seriously. It felt dismissive and inconsistent, and unfortunately, this kind of experience is all too common.
I will never return to this location again—not even for a gallon of gas. Here's what needs to improve:
Inspectors must document each visit properly so there's a clear history of what was checked and failed.
Communication should be consistent, no matter who brings in the vehicle.
Inspections should be thorough and accurate the first time, not a moving target every visit.
Safety matters. But so does honesty, process, and professionalism—and I didn’t find that here.

I faced absolutely horrible experience at this location
The air machine is very misleading. They put OUT of order sign right on top of the card reader.
Why not on the machine itself ??? so I thought only the card reader doesn’t work. I put in two dollar in quarters. It didn’t work.
I want to ask the cashier That was a Spanish looking lady wearing pink I asked for my quarters back. She talked to me very rudely. I asked for her name she didn’t have a name tag, she didn’t give me her name and she was rude. She said like there’s a sign.
How come they allow people with rude behavior to work there?

As a car guy these people are the most trustworthy people I've met for inspection.
They have done mine for all of my cars since before covid.
5 stars is not enough if you value honest mechanics

The new inspector is a perfect gentleman. He’s very soft spoken, well behaved, and very knowledgeable about everything. I highly recommend this place for your inspection.

Contaminated gas destroyed the fuel injectors in my Honda. They've had issues in the past with their pumps failing state audits. Also their pumps look like someone tried to break into them.

I have been going to this shell since my AC stopped working last summer. Each time, Mr. Long just adds freon that will keep leaking until there is only very hot air coming out at the heart of summer. Dishonest service. The worst feeling is that when I go there, he does not let me talk and keeps charging me money, $1500 so far and the AC issue has never been fixed.

Took care of my inspection and some small issues on the spot and did me a solid on the pricing. Been here multiple times for an inspection and they’re always fair and accommodating.

I just wanted to say how great the customer service is at this station based on a recent difficult situation getting my 2004 Volvo XC 90 T6 to pass the VA Emissions Inspection after I just bought it used. Because the battery had been replaced, the onboard computer had reset. So, the oxygen and catalyst sensors were not reading as ready, and the car was rejected (not failed) multiple times. It turned out that for these old Volvos, you have to take the car through a particular driving sequence to wake up the sensors (just Google it, it's complicated). Once I did that, the car passed! The customer service as I went through this experience was awesome. The inspector just continued to patiently work with me until we found a solution to the problem. Thank you!

The store employee opens the door and helps the guy out.(wasn’t same color as me) RACIST store owner. stop here if you want bad service.
