I suspect Tart Lumber has had a change in management. I previously always had positive experiences with them, but ordered a Marvin sliding patio door from them six months ago. We went in person to Tart Lumber and sat down with the sales rep, giving explicit details of the door we wanted, opening orientation, and color of hardware. We then paid a Tart Lumber field technician to come to our house and take measurements. Again being explicit with the technician who took notes that we did not want the door opening on the side where the floor register vents is located. Three months later the door came in and they came to install it. They removed our existing sliding door and had to remove the glass panels to get it out, then installed the new Marvin door with the opening on the wrong side (you have to step over the floor register to get in or out through the door, plus it opens to the side of the deck that has railing right as you go through the door. Plus, the handle hardware was nickel on the outside and white on the inside, when we ordered black. The sales rep even took us over to show us the display so we could see what the black hardwood we ordered would look like. After installation, they said leave this installed for now and we'll sort this out. That was several months ago. An expensive door installed exactly how we didn't want it. At first they only offered to provide us with the black hardware to replace what they had installed, but crickets with respect to replacing the door. The door cannot be flipped around to open on the proper side so a replacement is needed. Disappointed to say the least.

If I could give zero stars I would. I sent an email request for quote for specific stile and rail door slabs in exact measurements, and specific brand, type, and color door hinges.Buyer beware. Worst customer service out of any company I've ever done business with. Was talking with the same salesperson (at the counter) throughout the process. The quote seemed reasonable and after talking with the salesperson.l, I decided to order the items. I was told the hinges would be delivered before the doors. The door slabs were delivered before the door hinges which wasn't supposed to happen. The specific door hinges that I ordered and paid for were ordered incorrectly and they were sent the wrong color. When I called, they told me it would take another couple weeks to get the correct ones in. They told me they would try to get them sooner.Well, they delivered hinges to my home within the two extra weeks timeframe. However, the hinges were not the specific ones that I ordered and came from Amazon.com. After looking at the hinges, they were not the ones that met my specifications and weren't even the brand that I ordered -- bait and switch. Amazon.com switches were 1/4 the price that I paid. After my contractors tried to install one of the doors, they measured the door and my door order was not the proper widths that I ordered and they could not use any of the doors from Tart.I talked with Roxana (Sales person), Shawn (operations manager), and Jeff (retail store sales manager) and after telling me I would get a refund for the hinges, no refund nor did they come to pickup the hinges. The doors, I was told by a Jeff, that they are now my doors and it is my problem and not Tart Lumber's. I'm now stuck with doors that were not the right size and am not able to use them and I'm out several thousand dollars.I will fight to get 100% refund and this company should not be in business. Please don't give this crooked company your business. Look at the other bad reviews -- some common themes.I didn't provide all the mishaps and specifics and hopefully you get the general idea of the incompetence and rude and absolute worst customer service.

Sales counter employees are lazy and disrespectful. Would advise any professional to go elsewhere that actually values your business and respects your time. The gentlemen will sit there and stare at the sky at their leisure as you wait in line.

Craig, the owner, is very kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. He is willing to help answer any questions for any project, both big and small. His passion for what he does shows, and I can’t recommend Tart lumber enough.

Very pleasant to deal with and great people to work with and very patient people. Communication is awesome among everyone I have dealt with and have made sure that we were all on the same page with our project and kept us updated and informed.

Elizabeth went above and beyond to complete my warranty request for a single window , when other companies turned me down, because it was too small of the job for them. I got our replacement window , appreciate it !

I am trying to start building my deck and hit with the current treated lumber shortage. I had to contact as many lumber suppliers as possible to buy whatever I can get. When I contact Tart Lumber, a sales person was helping me: her name is Emily Lim. She was extremely helpful, very prompt with the communication and searched around as well as watch out so I can get my order fulfilled. Only after a day, I got most of the needed materials and only 2 more items missing. Hopefully Emily will be able to fill up my order with those 2 items soon. Thank you and way to go Emily.

I have used Tart for all of my lumber needs, although I ocassionally sneak to Home Depot. I counted and I have purchased and installed 16 interior doors. Plus floor molding. They are so knowledgable and helpful. I often go back and make orders with the people in the back room (most recently Aimee). I also like the fact they have a broad spectrum of sales, from the contractor building to the design building to custom millwork (not used this last one). And I like that they are local.

It pains me to write a negative review for a local business competing against the mega-stores, but I don't think I can deny it any longer - Tart Lumber just doesn't want my business. In the past several years I've made many attempts to engage with them on home projects and each time I've walked away disappointed. I've called on the phone only to be put on hold and obviously forgotten about, I've visited the store to ask questions and been ignored or treated dismissively, I've ordered items which got misplaced, etc. They don't return phone calls and pass on messages even when they say they will. Getting them to respond is like pulling teeth. Recently I visited the design showroom to order several doors, some of them customized. After waiting several weeks for an estimate with no followup I was finally able to get through (on the phone) to the woman who took our order. She had misplaced the paperwork, and after another week or so I got the estimate - only to discover the sizes and quantities were all wrong - as if she just grabbed someone else's order and put our name on it. After correcting the numbers she was supposed to update the estimate, but again never called or emailed, and after repeated attempts to contact her, I gave up and found another vendor. Just today I called to ask a simple question about their stock which they couldn't answer. They apparently don't even know what they sell. As I said at the beginning, it pains me to write a negative review for Tart, I'd much rather support a local business that's been around for so long but they don't seem to care about serving the homeowner.

Tart has been our go to for many years. We get our lumber and doors (primarily). They've always been reliable with great customer service. Recently, one of their shop guys really come through for us. Russ helped us restore a custom veneer after it was sorely damaged. Russ, the F I N I S H E R! Our company and client cannot thank you enough for your skills in what is pretty much a lost art. Thank you! Suplotel Remodeling

Not my good to supplier. They commit to delivering product then later tell you they can't get things. Means you end up going to other suppliers and complicating your project. Also supplied the wrong item and then no one could help resolve the issue except the original sales person who was out and took all day getting back to us. In mean time we are standing around waiting. Their work is good, but expensive, but the supply side service is poor. Last time I go to Tart Lumber.
