“The Stony Creek post office has been around since the 1950's and the postmaster gave me some background of this small town hub of the community. The Masons built this structure and their insignia is displayed atop of the building. Not much else is nearby save a bank, the railroad tracks, a small park featuring a commemorative cannon, and a few other buildings and shops. It's such a tiny but friendly town! The postmaster and I talked about the price of stamps going up to $.60, and she said soon to be $.63, to which I responded that I still find it fascinating that the postal service can send a letter from one place to another for even that small price... I'll happily use the mail system for my letters, bills, thank you cards and greeting cards! The art of letter writing isn't dead after all!Hours: M-F 8:00-12:30, 1:30-4:30, Saturday 9:30-11:30.”

“I love finding these small town post offices tucked away in tiny corners of the world! The Sussex Post Office is one such find! Sussex has a population of about 250 people, and it's estimated that about 150 packages goes through this post office annually. It's next to Thornton's General Store which has been in operation since 1913 and the lady who owns the store, Louise Thornton, certainly has a history tied to this area! She said her father Thomas Thornton was postmaster there from 1937-1979! Then her brother, Morgan Thornton, became postmaster from 1979-2014. The love of the mail service runs in her family! She operates the local store full of knick knacks and bric-a-brac. You've got to check out both the post office and the general store! The postmaster is now a nice young man named Mario, who was super cordial and efficient. The hours are M-F 12:45-4:45, Sat 8:30-12:30. No passport service at this little charming post office.”

“Where to start here? The service was fast, friendly, polite, and respectful, at least my experience was. I noticed another review said the gentleman running the office moved rather slowly but i dont know the circumstances around that person's visit. I will admit he didnt exactly move with tremendous speed but given how slow business is I cant imagine he has to move but so quickly. Ill attribute that to the small office atmosphere another reviewer mentioned. The outside of the office badly needs work, especially the shrubbery out front. Spoke to the gentleman and he stated that he had no authority to request lawn care, that he was not the postmaster (nor was there one that worked in the office) and he has asked his superiors for lawn service on multiple occassions. He told me that his postmaster (who for some reason works in another post office) had dropped lawn care and trash service 2 years ago for budget reasons. Dont know if this was true or not but thats what he told me. 5 stars for the service the employee provided but the managers need to help get this place cleaned up on the outside. I doubt the man working behind the counter was hired to do yard work. He wasn't wearing a regular uniform and I asked about that. His response was that to his knowledge he is only required to wear a collared shirt and blue or gray pants but no jeans. I have seen the same from other small offices but all of the big ones have their employees wearing uniforms. Seems like they would have the same rules across the board. Overall a good little office that just needs some TLC.”
