I’ve been very happy with my child’s experience at Children’s Harbor. The teachers and staff genuinely care about the kids, and it shows in the way they interact with them daily.
I’ve noticed a lot of negative reviews, but I think it’s important to direct any concerns about tuition to corporate rather than blaming one specific center. The reality is that childcare as an industry is already struggling with staffing and fair wages, so let’s give these hardworking teachers a little grace.
You get what you give—if you take the time to build relationships with the staff and treat them like human beings, you’ll find that they are much more receptive and willing to work with you. If you constantly nitpick and complain about minor issues, it’s only natural that the response may not always be what you want.
It’s also important to remember that these teachers and staff spend more time with our kids during the week than we do. They play a huge role in our children’s development, and they deserve respect and appreciation for the care they provide.
Anytime I’ve had a concern, I never reacted impulsively. Instead, I approached the teacher or director for a face-to-face, respectful conversation, and more often than not, things were resolved quickly and amicably. Communication goes a long way, and I’ve always felt heard here.
I’ve recommended this center to many parents and will continue to do so. If you want a positive experience, take the time to engage with the staff and appreciate the hard work they put into caring for our children every day.

A week before Christmas they issue a letter informing some parents that fees are going up $50 a week (a 17% increase) in less than 45 days. Fees are now over $1,500 a month for shared childcare. Meanwhile facilities haven't improved and teachers haven't received wage increases. Merry Christmas from their CEO and Board.

The Children's Harbor Suffolk - Preschool and Early Care is amazing! My son recently started attending (almost 5 months ago). The Director, Assistant Director and staff are extremely friendly and professional. My son's teacher, Ms. Lutricia Brown, is the best! She is such a caring and understanding person. My son actually looks forward to going there every day and misses her when she is out. She goes over and beyond with the care that she provides to each child, and all my questions or concerns are met with great interest. I could not be happier. It's such a relief to me as a mother to know that when I drop my son off every morning, he will be well taken care of.

I have been remiss in my responsibility of leaving a comment about Ms. Lutricia. I often drop/pick up my granddaughter in her PK2 room. She is a great teacher and leader.I've noticed how the children rarely interrupt while she is speaking to adults and it takes minimal corrections from her if they stray from class rules.Ms. Lutricia is a wonderful person who applies "good old fashioned" teaching principles. She is consistent, fair and always in control of of the classroom. She has the wonderful teacher attributes I've always appreciated when deciding where to leave my children.

We love Children's Harbor. My toddler has been at Children's Harbor for about 4 months now and it’s amazing how much he’s learned and grown in that time. He loves going to ‘school’ everyday and when we drop him off in the mornings, he’s eager to run in and see his friends and favorite teacher, Ms. Jen. Everyone is so friendly and patient. When we started our son here, I was a little worried because he had been in an at home daycare for so long and I wasn’t sure how he would adapt. The director, Marissa, and assistant director, Jovanka, were so patient with me and made us super comfortable. Starting our son at Children's Harbor was such a great decision, and we have no regrets!

The daycare lacks proper communication and appropriatly trained staff. While my child was enrolled I recieved a number of incident reports but not all of them. My son has had bite marks and bruises to his arms and legs more then 6 times. This problem was discussed with the director and assistant director. The assistant director seems to keep to herself in her office providing individualized attention to her own children. Staff are rude and seem highly annoyed during drop off around 0600. There also appears to be a high turn over rate for teachers without proper background checks (Virginia department of social services)

I don't even know where to begin with how much we love Children's Harbor. My son comes home happy every day singing songs he learned and telling me about his adventures. Also, his teachers had him potty trained in a week (at 2.5 years old)! They always have fun events for the kids, and I am so thankful he has some joy in the time of COVID. They have handled the pandemic well with their precautionary procedures. I know I don't have to worry about him in their care.

My daughter has been a "student" at Children's Harbor for a little over a year and we, as the parents, have nothing but GREAT things to say about them. As a three (now four)year old, she has had the best of times and have made so many friends (as much as a toddler can). Thank you Children's Harbor for taking the times with not just my child, but all the children and their needs.

We were on the waiting list for our new baby and was told that they had a spot for him. We had everything arranged with them. We called to confirm today and was told that they were bought out by another company and they threw away the list and they won't be able to take him. They said we can put him on the waiting list again but they won't have an opening for at least 6 months. My wife goes back to work in a month! Very disappointed. Would not recommend the new company at all.

Had the same issue someone else posted about saying we had a spot then all of a sudden we didn't. After a crazy week or so of calling the director and anyone else I could speak to we got a spot. The kids started and it was okay. There were issues frequently and we just didn't feel comfortable bringing the kids anymore. I think Miss Danielle and the assistant director are working hard but unfortunately I think management above them is lacking. I really appreciated all Miss Danielle did not it was just a bad fit. I think once the new leadership for Suffolk gets the hang of it then it will be a good place to be but right now there's just too many kinks.
