The prices are pretty high. The loaders are careless and don't load on your trailer axle where the load should go. The loading area can get congested with trucks dropping off material, which interferes with customer load out. The owner would like to know the location, and you cannot reply on google maps. The location was Toano.

Really nice people. Delivery went well. However, the soil was extremely clumpy with lots of rocks in it. I got the 50/50 topsoil and compost mix and the soil is so acidic!! I have to amend it so my plants can do better in it. Really unfortunate.

Excellent source for top soil and garden compost. I highly recommend their 50/50 top soil and mushroom compost mix for raised beds.

The Gloucester location is not nice at all, very expensive. I tried to buy some mulch for business and had no luck with the rep, she was asking for business license in the county which i have to apply and give her the receipt before she even talk to me. Went to Lawn Ventures in Newport News, got it for half of the price and they support local businesses, which I greatly appreciate.

Love this place! They offered great advice my garden is thriving. Over 100 tomatoes with just 6 tomato plants. Peppers doing great too! We took their suggestion for the compost and planted late April. So happy Toano has this place!!!

Paid $160 for gravel to be delivered fro my gravel patio. Received gravel mixed with mulch and had to dump on side of garage.

We made a last minute decision as we were nearing Peninsula Hardwood mulch in Toano to stop in and order some soil. We needed to backfill an area around our above ground pool. Tina was very helpful and knowledgeable. She helped us figure out the best solution and immediately scheduled our delivery for that very day. Talk about service! The delivery arrived on time and the driver was careful to unload the soil exactly where we wanted it. We’re looking forward to doing more business with them as we plan our landscape.

Just ordered a delivery of topsoil and mushroom from Peninsula Hardwood Mulch. Tina was so friendly and knowledgeable and she remembered what we ordered before! And they are able to deliver today, I’m so excited to get my hands in the dirt ? ? ???

My family has been doing business with the Toano location for at least 7 years. We have purchased #57 stone, top soil (both conditioned and original), fill dirt, black and walnut dyed mulch and pea gravel. We have picked up materials and we've had material delivered. Tina and Daryl are always helpful with ordering and giving advice, if needed. Gerald has delivered to us several times and every experience has been exactly as we hoped and expect it to be. The materials are of a consistent quality and the prices are fair. Our most recent purchase was just yesterday (Friday) when I called just before noon to schedule delivery of 6 yards of topsoil. I hoped, but didn't expect, to possibly get our soil delivered on Saturday. Tina and the crew were able to get the material delivered that afternoon. Don't expect same-day delivery but it is not the first time that they were able to provide us with this outstanding service! We have been extremely satisfied with our experiences in doing business with Penninsula Hardwood Mulch in Toano and I hope to continue this relationship....we have a lot of improvements that we wish to complete. Thanks to everyone for their efforts!
