All appointments have been very quick and expeditious. Dr. Tran is a bit more expensive than other vets BUT I think the quality of care is exceptional.”

“This is the most caring vet I have ever been to. I had to take my dog there for a toe infection so I thought but after research it was a tumor. They were kind and let me treat is as that for 2 weeks. But her health declined and the hardest decision was made to let her live in heaven with no pain. Thank you all for your kindness. I will be back with my other pets but until then thank you all for treating Dixie like you were her family too. ❤”

“I cannot speak highly enough about Crossroads Animal Care Center and their incredible staff. We are new to the area and weren’t sure where to start, so we called about nine different veterinary offices before reaching out to Crossroads. From the very first phone call, everyone was so kind and pleasant, and they made sure our urgent concern for our pup was taken seriously. They did everything they could to accommodate us and were able to squeeze us in for an urgent care evaluation. They then scheduled our girl’s surgery just two days later.

One of the things that really stood out to us is their beautiful outdoor area, which they use for dogs who are terrified of being inside a veterinary office. Our dog is extremely anxious at the vet, and they were so thoughtful about her needs. We were able to have her assessment, vaccines, and blood draw done outside, where she felt much more comfortable. The staff was patient, kind, caring, and genuinely compassionate throughout the entire process.

Every bit of information they provided was clear, thoroughly explained, written down for us, and communicated every step of the way. During our surgical visit, the staff took the time to educate us about the procedure, offered comfort and support, and called us with updates throughout the day. Knowing our baby girl was being cared for and receiving updates gave us so much peace of mind.

The facility itself is beautiful, clean, and easy to get to, but it was truly the people who made this experience so exceptional. At the end of our visit, they even gave our girl a toy, and she absolutely loves her toys! It was such a sweet and thoughtful gesture and honestly made our day.

Everyone we interacted with was amazing, but I especially have to give a huge shoutout to Tiffany, one of the nurses. She made this entire process feel so much smoother, cared for our pup as if she were her own, and was simply an amazing person. We are so grateful for the kindness and compassion she showed our girl and our family.

Thank you so much to Crossroads Animal Care Center and your entire staff for giving us such an exceptional experience. You have officially gained customers for life, and we will never go anywhere else for our fur babies.

“Overall, Dumfries Animal Hospital is a good veterinary practice. I have brought my pet here on several occasions, and I appreciate that the rates are reasonable and that the staff is consistently kind and helpful. Many of the veterinarians I have worked with clearly love what they do, and that care is what makes this practice stand out. That said, I have had a few experiences with veterinarians who came across as unnecessarily rude.

I first had a negative experience with an older veterinarian there, which led me to quietly switch to another vet in Fairfax. However, the distance became inconvenient, so I eventually returned to Dumfries Animal Hospital and had an excellent visit. My fur baby received great care, which reminded me why I had liked the practice in the first place.

More recently, I had an appointment with a visiting veterinarian who also came across as rude. The final straw was a confusing situation involving a call from the front desk about an appointment. During the call, I was asked about a previous emergency vet visit at another location nearly a year earlier. I assumed they were simply updating records, so I provided the information. Later, the veterinarian seemed to blame me for the mix-up, and when I tried to explain what happened, she dismissed me by saying “anyway” and moved on to discussing my pet. I had also hoped to board my dog there, and the veterinarian noted that I needed to bring her back for a follow-up. When I returned, she asked whether I had found boarding for my dog. I explained that I thought the boarding was supposed to be handled there if my dog checked out ok. It was getting nowhere so gave up and found another location. The medication did help my dog recover, although putting her down had been mentioned as an option if she did not improve. Thankfully, she did improve and later strutted through Dumfries Animal Hospital as happy as could be.

I was close to leaving Dumfries Animal Hospital again, but I recently sent someone else to take my dog in for her annual shots, and they said their experience was good. Because of the caring staff, reasonable rates, and positive experiences I have had with several veterinarians, I would have given five stars. However, due to the rude interactions I experienced with a couple of veterinarians, I am giving four stars. I remained polite and pleasant throughout these visits and did not feel that kind of treatment was deserved.”

“I had brought my 3 large dogs to Ridge Lake Animal Hospital from 2021-2023 and they did an amazing job. Then we left VA and now we are back and brought them back to this same place and they all helped me so much with them. He and his team took action immediately, were very attentive, and always made my animals feel important and cared for. “As the fur mom of a senior cat, I’ve visited this location on multiple occasions, but my most recent visit really stood out to me.

Taking my senior girl to the vet can be incredibly anxiety-inducing because there’s always that fear that one day I’ll be told it’s time to make an incredibly difficult decision. During our most recent visit, the Veterinary Assistant, Diego, was so friendly, patient, and compassionate with both of us.

While comforting my cat during her exam, Diego took the extra time to gently clean the eye boogers from her eyes. It may seem like such a small gesture, but as a pet parent, those little acts of kindness mean so much.

During our previous visit, Diego was the one who told me that she had lost weight. He could immediately see how upset I was, and instead of simply moving on, he took her to the back and reassured me that they had weighed her again to make sure they had an accurate reading. That extra effort and compassion meant more to me than he probably realized.

When you have a senior pet, you remember the people who treat them with genuine kindness and care. Diego is one of those people. I’m incredibly grateful for the compassion he has shown my girl and for making what can be a very stressful experience a little easier for both of us.”

“I’ve been taking my Yorkie to Dr. Learman for over a year now, and the care has always been outstanding. She is incredibly detailed, knowledgeable, and genuinely loving with the animals. You can tell she truly cares about every pet she treats.

I recently brought my new puppy in for his first appointment with her, and the experience was just as wonderful. Dr. Learman took the time to explain everything and made sure we felt comfortable and informed.

The front desk staff is great as well—Kayla is friendly, helpful, and makes every visit smooth from start to finish.

I couldn’t ask for better service and feel very lucky to have such a caring veterinary team looking after my dogs.

“When I moved to NOVA in 2014, I went to VCA Woodbridge out of convenience since it was so close to where I lived. I immediately knew without a doubt that Dr. Shackelford was going to be our vet going forward. She has been with us through the loss of two of our dogs due to age and even sat with us on the floor, crying and comforting us when we lost one of our beloved hounds. We have moved out of the Woodbridge area but that hasn't stopped us from making the drive so that our pups get the best care and attention not only from Dr. Shackelford but from the rest of the incredible staff at this location.We always feel like we have her undivided attention, she listens to our concerns, answers our questions and gives us her honest advice and opinions. When we have needed referrals she has provided great recommendations. We would follow her anywhere in the DMV if it meant we were able to ensure our dogs were able to receive their care from her.”

“I've tried to write this several times. Our beloved dog passed away suddenly. I rushed her to Old Bridge Vet Hospital and they tried, but she died. What happened next is why I wanted to give them 5 stars. They showed our family so much grace and compassion it's been hard to put into words. They explained what they could, but most importantly gave us all the time we needed with Ruby to say our goodbyes, even giving me time to go pick up my kids and bring them in. Then today I get a mailed card with hand written notes from the staff offering their condolences. Wow.

“We've been taking our dogs here since 2023 and they've done nothing but take great care of them. The vet techs are always friendly and the doctors show so much care. I've only had a few issues with the front desk and some of them not scheduling appointments properly, specifically for my dogs who require the chill protocol and requiring certain medications for appointments. Other than that, I have no issues and definitely recommend this office if you're looking for a quality veterinarian and safe place for your pets.”
