After our daughter’s first day of school at Green Hedges in 3rd grade, she told us, “I feel like I fit in here.” When I asked what class was like compared to her former public school she said, “When I ask questions, they actually answer them.” That’s been our experience now for over two years. We can’t say enough great things about GHS. They really care about the kids, the parents and the staff. When something needs to be addressed, they address it. There isn’t a huge bureaucracy that slows progress to a halt. They are concerned with educating kids and helping them develop as they grow up. That’s what we want out of a school. And that’s what we get at Green Hedges.

High teacher & admin turnover rates. Poor leadership, unorganized, no support for students, teachers or faculty.Understaffing results in additional workloads to be picked up by faculty members, leading to major burnout. In such an environment where you combine lack of leadership, support and burnout, the student experience and academics will suffer and decline.School initally had great bones but is headed in the wrong direction. Would not recommend.

A lot of people ask me why we send our four kids to private school when we live in such a good school district. There are a lot of reasons to choose both options, but for me, these pics capture one of the biggest reasons I choose Green Hedges...the school integrates kids ages 3 to 15.Here, the when the preschool girls saw the middle school girls come out to the playground for lunch, they RAN to them and they all laughed and talked and hung out. I see this happen all the time. Every middle schooler knows every preschooler and everyone in between. How cool for the preschoolers, and how cool for the middle schoolers, to have a connection with each other.Other reasons I love GHS: plenty of outdoor time, music, arts, movement in the classroom, individualized academic plans, small class sizes, meaningful projects and field trips, incredible families, teachers, and staff.

Green Hedges offers a careful, kind, wonderful education for each child enrolled there. We love this low-profile treasure tucked into the tree lined streets of Vienna.
