Just discovered Trace after moving to the area and I already know I’ll be there regularly. I brought in and filled 12 different containers with pantry staples and everyone working there was so helpful and patient with me. They answered all my questions and walked me through how the tags work as it was my first time there. The prices are excellent, I even compared them afterwards to what I would have spent at a grocery store to bring home a bunch of plastic packaging, and there’s no competition. I had the pleasure of chatting with the owner about the store and about zero waste in general, and she was so lovely. My pantry is fully stocked and I feel so much better about using my cute glass jars for organization when I’m not emptying something out of one package just to display it. Very much looking forward to my next trip there - it felt like a candy shop for adults :)1

My family loves getting our dry goods at Trace! It’s such a pleasurable experience, everyone is so friendly, and the scoops and funnels help immensely!

Someone may claim that buying a planet-health-friendly product at Trace doesn’t make a difference. I disagree. In fact, loving our children doesn’t mean showering them with gifts every year, but it means shopping at Trace to do our part toward a more sustainable future for them and their children. At a time when so much harm is being done to the planet and its people with things like plastic pollution and endocrine-disrupting microplastics, the Trace Zero Waste store is like a refuge of humanity in Northern Virginia.

I wish the store was in Vienna when I used to live right around the corner! They have tons of bulk food items, bulk personal hygiene items, and bulk household cleansers. Many are vegan and most are organic. They also carry sustainable and practical household items at a pretty fair price.

This store is such a blessing to have in Vienna! It's helped me expand my efforts to take care of our earth. First I was introduced to the washing machine sheets so I don't have to get the big detergent packages. Now I also use the dryer balls so I don't purchase the dryer sheets that don't compost. I learn about new products constantly there and always feel uplifted as I leave. I look forward to going back, almost hoping I'll run out of something sooner, lol. There's a discussion about a native plant swap later in April also. I enjoy their events, and educational as well.

I recently visited for the first time and was impressed by everything, including the customer service. The person working showed me where things were in the store and was helpful in finding what I needed.Since Mason and Greens in Alexandria closed, this is the only zero waste store in the area that I am familiar with and will be sure to stop in for plastic free goods when I am in the area.

What a hidden gem! I have been looking for something like this and was so excited when I found them. I filled up my containers and their taring system was easy to use with great prices. While I was there I was able to purchase a few more items I’ve had my eye on. The cashier was very kind and helpful!

An amazing store! We love the refillary aspect as well as all the sustainable products you can buy - it's also our go to spot for thoughtful, local housewarming gifts. The owner, Mala, is fantastic too! Very accommodating and helpful! We love shopping here - you will too!

This is a great little store and the owner and staff are super friendly and helpful.I recently did a purge of old spices and took the bottles into the store to purchase fresh ones, for a FRACTION of what it would have cost in the grocery store. Plus you can buy what you need, since some spices you don’t go through very quickly. Their balsamic vinegar is awesome too! They also have great washable scrubbers for your dishes and great plastic saving storage items- I love the silicon caps to put on the open end of blocks of cheese. Genius! Good cleaning and other supplies as well. I always leave inspired to take extra steps to cut waste.Shout out for their onsite knife sharpening as well- reasonable prices to have your knives refreshed while you shop! It’s another vendor check the dates when they’re available.

A great place for all your eco-friendly items and refills! I love that this small business is within the fairfax area. I would recommend to check this out and support Trace in any way you can!
