This was my first time going here because my bird got injured and I need an emergency vet. The person who booked my appointment asked me $50 deposit and told me that will cover towards the exam fee . However, the treatment person told me it’s not true. Then In an exam room doctor walked in after tech seen my bird. Doctor did not even introduced herself to me neither greeted me or my bird and was just standing there like she is waiting on me for something. I been to many vet before but I never seen such an unprofessional behavior. Then vet asked Tech to hold my bird for examination and tech didn’t even know how to hold bird.At one point I felt like she is choking my bird. They have two cockatoo and one Indian ringneck in a cage. One cockatoo was out side in a 50 degree rainy and windy weather. Their cages are so dirty including their food and water bowls- like no one cleaned them in a long time. The Indian ringneck had so much dust on himself. Poor bird probably never took a bath in his life. They barely had any perches and toys in their cage. It’s is so heartbreaking to see such an intelligent and beautiful creatures living a life like this. Upon asking questions tech and receptionist said canal staff take care of them and I requested to speak with manager but I was told that manger is not on site today. These are the people take care of our pet, teaching us what’s good for our companion animals but they are the one not following their own advice. They should be the one setting an example for their patients. I’m never going back here and i recommend no one else should take their beloved animals here .

My wife and I have been going here for about 3 years now and at first they were fine. But recently they are incredibly slow in the office. I’ve called and been placed on hold for upwards of 15 minutes before hanging up and calling back and being helped immediately. When you go to the office for your appointment they are always behind. Then when you’re finally seen and ready to leave you have to wait forever for them to print your receipt so you can pay. Then if you want/need a prescription, it is way over priced to buy through them so if you want to buy from somewhere else you have to pay a $10 fee for each prescription. The vets they have now appear to be young and when talking with you make you feel dumb for not understanding medical terminology.

Love this vet! As a first time dog owner we wanted to do everything right. We love the doggy daycare for our pup! It’s great for socialization as well as to get her energy out. She’s also always excited to go!

Dr. Roubidoux (I hope I’m spelling that right) is amazing! She shows compassion and professionalism when handling our pets. The vet tech that came in with her the last two times we saw her was fabulous. These two are friendly and explain the care your pets are receiving thoroughly. They also bring in a very detailed estimate where you can elect or decline anything on that form and they stick to what you approve. I’ve never felt pressured to get more than I thought was necessary. The front desk staff is friendly and approachable. They’re also very responsive over the phone. These folks truly care about your pets Thanks in particular for your patience and understanding with Bennie and Marigold. Even though they may not know it they are lucky to have the staff at Abbey!

I have been bringing my pet birds here for over 20 years. I have never had a bad experience. My birds are treated with love and care during their visits. The staff is always friendly. If you have pet birds, I recommend going to Abbey Animal. Thanks again for doing a wonderful job with my birds over the years, I appreciate all of you! ?

I’ve never felt so embarrassed about talking about this but I just can’t not say anything. The vet bill that me and my wife were given for our boy was really overwhelming. We’re in a time when everything is expensive but getting estimated for almost $900 for a shot, two types of pills, and an examination is crazy to me. It shouldn’t be $50 plus just for a doctor to tell us what we already know. We were there for an extra hour or so trying to do the best we could to get the price down as much as possible because we honestly couldn’t afford the original price. The assistant was nice but the actual doctor kind of made us feel like we were wrong for feeling the way we felt. If you can afford a vet with those prices by all means go because the service is great but the prices are way higher than the average vet. We were able to find the same medications that were afford to us at the vet 70% cheaper elsewhere ie pet smart and chewy.

I was extremely happy with the staff and the treatment of my pet. When I returned for the follow up appointment the staff was also amazing. I only had 1 issue. I used the first visit 10% off total bill. They explained to me that they wouldn’t apply it to the total bill. I moved forward and called after to discuss the discount with a manager. A few days later I received a call from a manager named Justin. I felt Justin was extremely rude and spoke to me in a very condescending tone. He even told me that I was unappreciative of the services provided. Other than that conversation I would definitely rate a 5 star. To be clear, this post is not reflective of not receiving the discount, it is only about the disrespect Justin displayed during our conversation. It was completely unnecessary.

I don't think they want my opinion about my recent visit with my cat. I'll just say we felt rushed, paid a lot of money, and were sent home with a very sick cat that was suffering and we finally took her to another animal hospital where we were treated with kindness and so much care.

My dog a senior 16 years old had a spinal injury as sad as it was I had to get him put down. As mush as it hurt I knew it was best. Dr. Vallier was amazing and explained the whole process from start to finish. She was accompanied by Brittany and Lauryn. I could not afford to get his ashes back so they covered the cost and for that I am so grateful. He was put to sleep on June 10th and when they called me to pick him up I was so happy to have him back with me. It is never easy to have our fur babies put down but the care the Dr. has and her team 5 star!! I also bring my rabbit to this office for his grooming. Would definitely recommend for your pets needs. Thank you again Dr. Vallier so much!!!

Abbey Animal Hospital in Virginia Beach, Virginia.\nOnly cares about money. Childishly domineering and dominant. Handles himself poorly. Haughty attitude. Very unprofessional. Very uncaring. Very unhelpful. Cares only about money. Disrespectful. Escalates a situation with a person who is experiencing distress, so he can kick them out and threaten to call the police. Even exhibiting taunting behavior. I wouldn't want to take any beloved pet of mine to such a shallow, selfish, cruel, uncaring brute, as this pathetic small man who I saw on the afternoon of Friday, June 23, 2023.\nSincerely from Lawrence.

Phenomenal staff and boarding. Always helpful - even with last minute record requests. They'll even help by text and email - and we even get good deals on our pets medications. We know we are getting them from folks we trust. We drive well out of our way to keep coming back.

The staff is friendly enough, but the surprise fees because they don't ask enough questions or provide necessary information is unreasonable. They are one of the few places that will board a puppy during the vaccination schedules, but as soon as your puppy qualifies for a vaccine they require it even if you have an appointment through another vet set up (i.e. even though my puppy was 16 weeks and rabies is due between 16 weeks and 18 weeks and our appointment for the vaccine was the following Tuesday I would have had to pay for a vaccine to get her boarded because she was 16 weeks old) and they don't tell you any of this until you are in the drop off process or if YOU specifically ask. I ended up spending over $100 to board my puppy because they required a flu vaccine which required a vaccine exam, so $45 for the medication that isnt needed elsewhere and another fee for the exam PLUS the boarding fee and it was all due up front because I was a new customer. In the set up call they also said they'd contact my vet to get our vaccine records, I assumed this was successful because I wasnt contacted about it again, but at drop off I had to juggle my puppy, the items i brought because I wasnt sure what was allowed/needed (again no one said anything about what could or should be brought to boarding and it isnt listed on their website so i had a toy, bed, and food with me), and filling out paperwork (most of which is duplicate to the pre registration paperwork i had already completed abd brought with me) while navigating a difficult phone app to get vaccine records emailed to them so the drop off process also took almost 30 minutes. Lastly when I picked her up her harness was on upside down and she smelled like she had been bathed in whatever chemical they use to sanitize the floors and the pick up process was a bit confusing as well. They also repeated called my puppy a him even though the record should have her gender and I said she multiple times. Would not recommend unless absolutely necessary. I may give them another chance, but not until my puppy is fully vaccinated to avoid unnecessary $$$
