There was nobody giving donations at the time we walked in but the workers were all hanging out. We were told “we don’t do walk-ins here” after we signed in. We know they are supposed to but they argued about it and said they couldn’t not help us, to go home and make an appointment for another day.

Zero donors in the building at 1:45pm on 02/18 , 2 separate staff greeted us at the door only to ask “do you have an appointment” and when we said we would like to walk in, those 2 CS1s that were not tied up with donors , because no donors were present, went to get the charge or CS2 to tell us they were not taking anything but appointments and that’s just how thier site operates.Definitely a bummer that this is still happening, even though this practice started during Covid to limit exposure and contact precautions but now all regions have bounced back after Covid and should be taking walkins along with their appointments, at least that’s what upper management would tell us …but we were given the justification that “staff were on lunch” and to come back another day. Absolutely terrible way to treat donors who go out of their way to find time to donate. But I guess I don’t really need to donate at all.

HUGE shout out to Cera, the phlebotomist who worked with me.? She was amazing and everything went smoothly! I was on the verge of ending all donations because my last experience (elsewhere) was horrible. But I'll continue donating now, because of her expertise and professionalism! I must also mention that the facility was very clean, and calming. Thank you for a great experience and for the life-saving work you do!

This location keeps calling, texting and e-mailing me, and when I show up on a Sunday afternoon, no one here, they turn me around. It was 1:45pm, without a soul in site. At first I was thinking about thier appointments, so I waited outside. No one was inside, nor has come in since I've been here the parking lot (2:30)There really not be a "need" as they claim. I have a very busy schedule, and this is a walk in center that stays open on Sunday until 5. (Towne Center, Virginia Beach....4554 Virginia Beach Blvd.

Don’t show up early for your appointment they will make you wait even if no one is there donating. Bad experience. I waited 10 min after my appointment time to even be seen. The nurse that saw me was very rude. Not returning to this location.

I've been donating here for years and the crew feels like family to me. They get so excited when I come in to donate platelets. The last round, I went over 333 donations. I've convinced friends to join me on my giving spree as well. I've made the plaque three years and a row so they must be doing something right. My favorites are Lisa, Angelo and Robert. The others are amazing as well and make you feel so comfortable when you donate. If you're doing plasma or platelets, be sure to get a blanket. A bonus is that most of the time they come out of a dryer so they're nice and toasty. The setup with streaming movies is nice. I usually watch a movie and a half while I'm there. Then after the finish, typically 2-3 hours, you get drinks and snacks while you regain your bearings. I'll continue coming here to donate to save lives as long as my body will allow it. My mother is suffering from cancer, and I have an old coworker that needed platelets as well due to health issues. So knowing that I'm helping others, makes me feel so good. The rewarding feeling from giving life and not some material thing is so different. I wouldn't change it for the world.

This is my go to facility for donating. I’ve taken my grandkids a couple times so they know the process and will hopefully donate when they turn of age. They aren’t allowed on the floor but have watched from the window. And on my last donation my grandson chatted with the staff members and enjoyed a snack. He said he wants to give blood when he gets old enough! Success. The staff is always Great!!!!Thank you all. ❤️??

American Red Cross sends false emails just to get people in the door. On 5/17 I received an email stating you get a 20oz Red Cross water bottle if you donate prior to 5/31. So I made an appointment for 5/18 while at the appointment I asked about the water bottle and was told “not at this location” so it’s just lies to get in the door. If this location does not participate in the give always that are advertised by American Red Cross then this location should not be available through the link provided in the email. It’s false advertising and donors should be made aware at time of making appointment. I love being a blood donor, It something that people need! However I will not be donating to American Red Cross anymore. This is just another lie they tell people.Sad but I will be finding another place to donate to.

"Critical need" for volunteers, yet turning away able and willing people who could help. According to their post, the demand was so high that it was impacting blood donation sites because there weren't enough volunteers. A whole month later after offering to help, a 3rd party background check company sends snail mail to say, American Red Cross isn't interested. I'm curious, who are they looking for to hand out juice boxes at the blood donation sites?! I've volunteered at facilities with much higher security standards and not had this issue, most organizations are grateful for help. This also happens with blood donation too, the American Red Cross advertises an "urgent" need for it, but then I read on these reviews how they've turned people away! Those are just the ones who took the time to post a review, so I don't know how many people have tried helping this organization and been turned away. Are monetary donations really desired? Sorry, not everyone can offer that, but plenty can offer their time and skill set. Disappointing seeing this play out first hand.

I truly love donating blood and I was finally able to go on Sunday (2-28-2022).Mary was the tech that handled me from start to finish. She was a great stick...and even though I have great veins, sometimes things happen. Not today...and actually never at the American Red Cross.Thank you for making the process an easy one. I recommend donating blood so you can potentially help save three lives!!
