I’ll start by saying everyone who worked here was very sweet and accommodating. Zero complaints about the service or the staff. That being said, this is the worst smelling hotel I have ever stayed at. You can smell the cigarette and weed smoke before you even walk in. And the inside is even worse. Our room smelled like hot bong water all night.Honestly though, I could’ve overlooked all of that if I hadn’t had multiple cockroaches run across my feet and up my legs in the bathroom. As I said, the staff was nice and got us a new room immediately, but at that point the whole experience was kind of ruined. We spent the rest of the night turning all the lights on and checking behind mirrors for bugs. If it hadn’t been a last minute reservation and I thought I’d get any money back, I would’ve left immediately.Overall it’s a convenient location but I would never recommend it.

i’ve stayed at better motel 6’s. the entire concierge staff consists of vindictive old hags who have nothing better to do than be unhelpful and shockingly impolite. we asked for more blankets since we only had one and were sharing a room with 4. the room was maybe 65 degrees. we were given two thin throw blankets so called again to ask for more, but were told that we’d “already taken every blanket they possibly had”. i think it’s important to point out we booked this room during the off season. doesn’t scream “resort”. when given only one guest parking pass, we were incorrectly told additional guests could park “anywhere with a B”, and then our car was towed. the tow company says this is an extremely common occurrence, and when the tow company says they’re a bunch of crooks, that’s saying something! it was an extremely unpleasant experience and i wish i would have stayed literally anywhere else.

My husband and I booked a 5 night stay. We left after the first night (less than 12 hrs after checking in) due to cockroaches crawling on the wall (we took photos as well). After checking into another hotel and waiting a week for someone to contact us back, with multiple attempts on our end, we were informed we would receive $55 back from our $500 stay, but that was it. This is terrible! Do not stay here!

This was a very nice place to stay. We stayed for a week at the end of October into November. The staff was wonderful especially Lexus at the front desk. Very clean with a powerful shower. I brought my own Roku with me and was able to use it on the tvs unlike most hotels (a great feature for me). My only complaint is the light didn't work over the stove, but still we had a great stay overall.Walkability: A lot of great food near by.

I have been going here for years with my husband. It's a nice hotel suite with a kitchen, living room, and beautiful view of the beach from the baloney. The bathrooms are nice, and the beds are comfortable. There are two tvs with a pull out bed in the living room area. There used to be breakfast included, but the past couple of times I went there wasn't, which is kind of disappointing. There is a pool and a hot tub. It's has a nice gym for working out. There used to be a suna years ago, but that is gone now, too. Overall, nice place to stay.

It's our 2nd time coming here. I love this hotel, I just don't like going into the elevator or walking to my room and smelling weed in the air. Then, on top of the 2am weed smell going into my room. You would think the no smoking ? policy includes weed also.

We're used to bringing cleaning supplies, now we need to include roach spray. 2 in the kitchen. We added a swifter to our collection this year. We found a gallon pickle jar in the cabinet with a half eaten pickle, refrigerator wasn't cleaned, the floors are always sticky. The basics, filthy surfaces , table chair had juice all over it. Not what you plan in a vacation stay. Timeshare owners, they're not invested in us. I don't imagine they care about occasional guest stay. Your first indication is the comment section is closed on their website. What's good you ask, the view, and water pressure. They put timeshare owners out of the parking lot, no notice. They have new rooms on 7,8th floor, they look beautiful. Some sloppy craftsmanship on the vent cutout. New lobby, trying to make good first impression. Do better Barclay, because you can.

The internet says this is a 3 star hotel but for me it was 4 and a half. It was very clean, had a beautiful balcony to watch dolphins on, the staff were friendly, it has an indoor swimming pool and hot tub, which could have cleaner but it's a hotel so I get it, its right on the beach so you're right by everything you could want so it was just the perfect place. I loved it and will return someday.Walkability: Right on boardwalk and close to all stores, shops, amusement, and restaurants.

We loved our week long stay there in August, and you best believe we'll be back! All rooms are suites with fully equipped kitchens which is HUGE because I love getting up at sunrise, looking out the balcony and greeting Ol' Mr. Sun, then cooking my wife a really nice breakfast. All rooms/suites also have balconies that overlook the boardwalk and the beach.Barclay Towers is nicer than the rooms at the Hilton Garden Inn, and a suite is about $400 less than a non-suite at the Hilton.Barclay Towers doesn't have a restaurant, and the indoor pool isn't asthetically better... but it also isn't packed full with no chairs or loungers available like at the Hilton. We stayed a week in July at the Hilton Garden Inn, and a week in August at Barclay Towers.Threw perfectly good money away staying at the Hilton.Live and learn, I guess.

Location location. Close to so much. Our room was comfortable if slightly run down but it's a beach hotel so....Front desk was great. Unfortunately someone had thrown up on our balcony and we were greeted with that first thing. But it was taken care of quickly and efficiently. Recommend all areas be checked.Obviously was a huge deal as we extended for another night. Will be back. Hopefully without the regurgitation factor

I enjoy staying at the Barclay Towers when I come to Virginia Beach. The only drawback is that they no longer serve breakfast. However, it's great views and a nice mini kitchen.

Barclay Tower Suites is located within distance of many shops and restaurants. There is no continental breakfast, and the patio awning is missing. The dining area is not being used to its full potential. Perfect views as all rooms are oceanfront, but the view is from the living area and not the bedroom. Great hospitality from staff. No daily cleaning, unless requested. There is a stove, but no oven pans. It’s a great place for the value, but we will consider other options for our next visit.

The pool and hot tub area was dirty, and the building was a little outdated (the reception area was nice and part of the room), but I think it may be in the middle of renovations? Not sure though. Room was clean and the view was great.Walkability: The beach was just a step away!Food & drinks: Planet Pizza was straight across the road and multiple other eateries right next door.
