Bought a 2019 Rav4 and 5 min after leaving a service engine light pops up..I call the dealership furious ready to return and they said it's a simpler fix the parts ordered and they'll let us know.That was 8 months ago, I called constantly and all we'd get a call back.Finally got in contact this week and they said they had to record of the part being on order or a record of my calls.This place is a JOKE. Please don't buy from here

My wife and I came to Checkered Flag to purchase a Highlander. Alex Aguilar was great and very professional at first. He walked us through the buying process which was of course, haggle free; or so we thought. Nevertheless, we liked the pitch and decided to do business with the dealership; given that the agreed out the door costs did not change. However, once he ran our credit, and had us hooked on the sale, Alex pushed the extended warranty and gap insurance very hard (like working for a commission hard). We respectfully declined to which he repetitively disregarded our answer after we expressed our newborn was getting hungry and we needed to wrap things up. After going back and fourth a few times I told him no and gave him a frank and rather elevated explanation.We were blindsided, baited, and switched into a haggle deal after letting our guard down. We did not want to haggle after our ability to haggle was taken away. Then Alex personally insulted me and my 20 year automotive profession once told him I can take care of the repairs if needed. They tried to hold us hostage and gaslighted us when confronted. After trying not to explode on the sales staff, we walked out on a $33,000 deal. The sales manager then came into the parking lot to remedy the situation. However, the sale was over at that point and I told him to walk away. I would not recommend this dealer to anyone looking for a fair sales transaction. Perhaps Checkered Flag Auto Group could support their "solid family roots" better by practicing ethical sales tactics. We will go to Hall, or one of the other 6 Hampton Roads Toyota dealers.

So excited about my new Highlander and grateful for Erik who was awesome to work with! With us being 1.5 hrs away, he began by texting videos and very clearly communicated to sales process. Upon arrival at the dealership, he wasted no time is showing us a vehicle that perfectly fit our wish list. He was very knowledgeable about the vehicle details we had questions about, and followed up with further information about an item that was of concern to be sure we had a clear understanding and felt comfortable with our decision. Highly recommend Checkered Flag, and suggest giving Erik a call!

I purchased my car around Aug 30th. The choosing a car part was a great experience. Samantha was my advocate and she's a great salesperson. I really liked how she explained each feature and details of each car I test drove.There was a pull to the right, shaking in the steering wheel at 60mph, a jump when the car was shifting from first to second gear and the oil was at 40%. The service advisor said that the car may have an adaptive transmission and is learning how I drive the car? I looked online about that and all I could find was an adaptive cruise control but I'm not a car person..I had a huge blowout with Chris Berger when I brought my car in earlier than my appt and wanted a loaner but none were available and they wanted me to take my car to the dealership that we picked the car up from because they had service appts available and I felt that they should take it there since I bought it from Toyota. Chris Berger was a complete jerk. When I said I wanted to return my car, his response was "you can't, it's over the 72hrs." I was given a 72hr timeframe to return the car if I wanted to. Now keep in mind I brought it back the next day, well within the 72hrs. but they didn't even look it and made me an appt. I was upset, and started getting loud.They gave me loaner, took my car to Hyundai and they aligned the car. When I picked it up, Chris Berger apologized to me for his behavior and I apologized for mine. He drove my car and said that it was driving straight and there was no shake. I drove it around and notice the jump was still there and brought it right back. Chris Berger brought out the service manager and he drove it around and said that he didn't feel a jump, there was a smooth transition from gear to gear and said that I could take it to Acura.Here it is 3wks later and that jump is still happening. I was reluctant to bring it back because I felt like they would keep saying everything was fine. It was pretty obvious that they didn't want to do any work to this car.My husband changes the out all the fluids, and air filters every time we purchase a car and today he is doing that. The oil was very dark and needed to be changed although the oil light said it was at 100%, so obviously they tried to fool me by resetting the counter. The transmission fluid was very low and needed to be changed out as well.The car fax I ordered because I wasn't given one showed that all this work had been completed, even the alignment. So disappointing since it seemed like the Car Fax is a trusted source.I still like the car, I wish the car buying experience had been better. I had to choose 1 star, I wish there was an option for no stars.UPDATE: 10/29/23- The manager quickly responded to my review but I didn’t see it until about 5days afterwards, so I emailed him back. I waited a week, and nothing. So I decided to give him call, left a message with my cell phone number and NOTHING! Now here it is 1488 miles later, and I can’t drive my car because of a TRANSMISSION ISSUE amongst other things. The same issue that I was concerned about when I first purchased the car and mentioned in my previous review.

My husband took his brand new tundra in to Checkered Flag Toyota for its first service. Truck was returned to him with loose nut logs and wheels that were not aligned. Every wheel had something wrong with it. Service manager offered to fill up his gas tank for his troubles. He asked to speak to the general manager, manager was gone for the day (appointment was at 1:45pm). General manager was supposed to call him and never did, it has been a week since this appointment and the most Checkered Flag Toyota has done is reply to my husbands review of the business with a "we acknowledge your review".Returning a vehicle with loose tire is not only unacceptable, and on top of that, there is no regard towards the customers safety. Extremely dissatisfied with service AND dealership management.Sad excuse for management replies to "reach out to them when they should be the ones reaching out to the customer. We have reached out- no answer.

We purchased our first Sequoia in 2011 from Checkered Flag and received excellent service. We have since moved to Alabama, & when we found a used Sequoia that was a perfect fit AND it was at Checkered Flag, we knew it was the one for us. Despite the challenges that accompanied purchasing from out of state, Checkered Flag and specifically, CeCe Melendez went above and beyond in her service and willingness to help us secure our newest Sequoia. She was informative, helpful and very communicative throughout the process! A true Rock Star! Thank you!

Alan was amazing and we will only use him for any of our car needs from this point on. As soon as we walked into the door, he immediately greeted us and addressed all of of questions and concerns. I initially went in with the idea to buy a Camry but found my perfect match by purchasing a Crown. Alan was so attentive and responded to all my texts in a timely manner. He is the BEST!!!!

I got my ‘23 Blue Camry from Alan at Checkered Flag Toyota in VA beach. It was a great experience. Alan was very professional, laid back and extremely helpful. The whole process was silky-smooth, just like my Camry’s 8speed transmission. Even though mine was an out-of-state purchase, Alan constantly kept me informed by text, email and by phone when absolutely needed. The Camry is a great car, Checkered Flag is a great dealership. Now we have an excuse to go to the beach when we need our oil changed as they offer free lifetime oil changes. I would definitely buy another car from them if needed.

He did an awesome job walking me through every single detail of the car, making sure I understood all of the features and which packages contained which features. My wife and I randomly one night decided to pull in and purchase a vehicle at 730 pm. We couldn’t have a had a better experience. Our sales woman Sara White kindly stayed late, walked us through a few vehicles with no hassle, we were never hounded, nor felt like we were being guided to a specific vehicle for her or the companies benefit. She walked through every detail in and out of the vehicle and the purchasing process, she worked with us to get to a great deal and explained the phenomenal benefits of purchasing through Checkered Flag. We felt like we were purchasing third party from a friend! We 100% recommend to anybody! Thank you.

I had a great experience at Checkered Flag Toyota with Samantha helping me out and personally overseeing my entire purchase experience from start to finish! She was very flexible and understanding when I wanted to view several different options for used and then new cars and showed me exactly what I wanted and asked for without being overly pushy or steering me in a certain direction like other dealerships I’ve experienced. She did not try to force anything and listened to what I was asking for. Samantha kept me in mind even after I had already put a deposit on a vehicle that would be arriving at a later date, updating me on other options and opportunities that fit exactly what I was looking as they arose to give me more options. I was able to buy sooner due to this and get the EXACT car I wanted because of this personalized experience. I’m very happy with my experience at checkered flag Toyota sales department!
