If I could give a 0 star rating I would. The most incompetent pharmacy I have truly ever experienced. They have no records, old records that confuse their staff and are an extreme pain to work with. They incorrectly charged not once but twice for medicine creating hours of issues for me and my family trying to get their mistakes reconciled and having to get insurance to intervene and explain to them how to charge insurance. 10/10 GO TO ANY OTHER PHARMACY!!! Beware of this CVS. Save yourself and your family alot of trouble and just find a different pharmacy.

My husband and I went to the CVS located 1701 Independence Boulevard, Va 23455 for cold medicine for our 20 month daughter and myself. I stayed in the car because I don't know if what I have is contagious; I didn't want to put anyone at risk. The cashier at front counter who's name was Anna told my husband he had to have ID to purchase the items. He did not have his ID with him. He came back to the car informing me that I would have to get the medication that was behind counter. Mind you none of these items were a prescription. Nevertheless, I went inside and picked up a few more items in addition to the couch syrups. Since my husband said the items were already rung up I just went up to the front counter & told her I'd like to purchase those items as well. Anna told me "No, I can not do that." I asked why I have my ID. She responded I can't because that's considered a third party. I said "no he is my husband! We are trying to get medicine for our daughter and myself." She continued to say no. I quoted well can I go pick it off the shelf myself. She responded with "NO!" Our issue wasn't showing an ID. After presenting my ID it no longer made logical sense as to why I couldn't purchase over the counter items. I told her fine then I won't get anything. I went back to the car and my husband said we'll go back and get my ID. Once we returned we were slightly disappointed & upset due to her inappropriate behavior. After arriving we both got out of the car including our daughter. To clarify we needed the medication. I even had a mask on. My husband & Anna are going back and fourth about the items. He states that he's serving this country it's absurd that he can't even buy medication for his family. She tells us oh I served too. I have two child & a brought house. Then she goes so far to tell us she's the manager here; when we didn't ask. I'm unsure why she felt compelled to tell us CVS don't even own CVS. We were dumbfounded because we just want the items. Afterwards she said she denies our services telling us to go somewhere else. My husband said "so you won't help us? Now? Okay, we'll just go to the pharmacy." We went to the back to the pharmacy department to purchase the same "OVER" the counter medication. She walks to the back to talk to the pharmacist. We weren't close enough to hear what was said. But to me she went out of her way to try to further inconveniences us. But the pharmacy didn't deny our services we were able to purchase. If an ID is a CVS policy for purchasing over the counter items there should not have been any issues when I presented mine. I felt she should have been more empathetic after stating she had two children of her own. I feel that she should be reprimanded for her behavior for upstanding Law abiding Citizens. CVS needs to find a way to compensate us for our inconvenience. We have never in our lives felt such disrespect and no regards to myself or my child's circumstance. What should've been a smooth and easy transaction turned out to be a complete unnecessary nightmare. I look forward to hearing how will win us back over as customers. Sincerely, Ahyanna Taylor-Close

Terrible customer service. Treats customers differently. They will work with one customer to the ends of the Earth and leave you waiting for hours to barely help you at all. I can never get in and out of this place!

CVS isn't my go-to pharmacy but it is conveniently located near my neighborhood. I came in tonight to pick up some Motrin for my toddler who was running a fever. My shopping trip took all of 5 mins. The store is easy to navigate due to the clear placement of the signage. The store was noticeable clean as well. I grabbed what I needed and headed to the register and was helped by the friendly cashier. There were some teenagers in the store giving the cashier a hard time but she handled them well while remaining professional. She asked if I had my CVS card, but I am not a member. She offered to help me sign up but I was in a hurry to get this medicine back to my son. Overall great experience and I will most likely be back because it is very close to my home.

CVS was my "go to" pharmacy when I had pneumonia for so long in Brooklyn. The neighborhood store was directly on my son's walk home from the subway station. But when I returned to Virginia Beach, I went back to the pharmacy that I've used for many years. Other than the fact that they are on the top preferred tier for my Medicare Part D plan.....Why? CVS came into the neighborhood long after the other major chain stores had become an established presence. If my memory serves me correctly, this store was the first CVS in Virginia Beach, possibly in Southside Hampton Roads. It is strategically located on the west side of Independence at the Pleasure House Road intersection. It has a large amount of parking and the entrance/exit is at a stop light for easy access. I first visited the store for holiday wrapping. What I found was a large, clean, well stocked store with wide aisles and ample room to shop. Friendly employees greeted me from registers that back up to the street side wall and windows. Since that time I've used the pharmacy, which I could walk to if more able bodied, mostly for incidentals. But the times I've had Brooklyn prescriptions refilled, the experience has been good. I haven't found the co-pay to be significantly different from my drug plan's preferred pharmacies. I do prefer the smartphone app refill process from the other chain. But a plus is that CVS allows prepayment through the App. Texts are received when the prescription is ready or if there is a delay. The Independence/Pleasure House Road CVS has an easy access pharmacy drive through. This location includes a super photo department that also takes passport pictures. The employees who helped me with a passport picture yesterday were extremely knowledgeable regarding the requirements. They were also very pleasant. There is never a long wait for either the pharmacy or cashier. This pharmacy definitely is included on my recommendation list.

Poor customer service! I gave my prescription with the insurance card. The Pharmacy Tech tells me with an attitude, "why would I need that!" So I asked her, "don't you need to see a copy of my medical card? We had a change in our medical RX plans." She then said, "I don't know who you are." Um... isn't that the whole point of me proving you my identification??? Couple minutes later, she asked for the insurance card. (-_-)

Never have my Rx filled on time and employees never know why. They say they'll follow up with my doctor, but my doctor never hears from them and when I call back the CVS employees don't see any "notes in my file".

This is in no way by any stretch my go to pharmacy. It is extremely convenient however and I do use it. I have usually found the lot and sidewalks to be clear of debris. Parking is more than enough, too much as a matter of fact. They never usu even close to the lot which sets empty. Inside has been tidy and easy to locate items. When I come here is is usually to pick up a pharmacy item. The staff here has been okay and somewhat mixed depending on who you get. The nice thing is they do accept almost every major insurance, so this has worked out well. I will take a brief moment to mention the CVS brands because I feel they are pretty good and compare with the store brands, but cheaper. The front end staff has been nice to deal with and I have never had an issue with check out. I would recommend and probably at a 3.5 rounding down due to sporadic levels of service in the pharmacy.
