ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE BANKING EXPERIENCE!!!! Called customer service over two days, with multiple calls and being transferred at least 2/3 times each call. I was on hold for at least 40 minutes on one call! Horrible!! Go into a bank location and absolutely horrible contradiction in information in comparison to conversations on the phone. NO ONE KNOWS THEIR JOB!
I closed the account and moved on! If you enjoy bad customer service bank here!

I recently opened and account with an initial deposit of $3,400 using a cashiers check. While opening I was told by Charlotte that there would be a 5 business day hold on the funds for new customers.
I then went on to quote their funds availability policy which states "The first $5,525 of a day’s total deposit of U.S. Postal Service money orders, Federal Reserve Bank checks, Federal Home Loan Bank checks, cashier’s, certified and teller’s checks, traveler’s checks and Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia state and local government checks will be available on the first business day after the day of deposit." I was then told "if the system recognizes the check as a cashier's check then the funds should be available" noting that their welcome packet said "if your deposit is with a cashier's check please let the banker know so we can speed up the availability. "
Woke up the next day and of course no funds were available.
Received a call from Debbie at their corporate security office letting me know she had to call the bank my check came from in order to verify, once verified, $525 would be made available.
I mentioned their policy and was told "I'm only responsible for the $525, you'll have to go in branch and speak with a manager to release the hold on the rest."
The check was then verified and I received the $525 as Debbie had promised. Great job Debbie you are why this isn't a 1 star review!
I proceed to speak with Richard and Chenice at the independence Blvd branch and after checking everything out they were able to release another $1,450.
Great job Richard a Chenice you brought us up to a three star review!
I was told that the funds should have been released that morning but Charlotte at the VA Beach Blvd branch put an extended hold on the funds which is the opposite of what she told me.
"If the system recognizes it as a cashier's check then funds should be made available tomorrow."
Shame on you for lying Charlotte, you made this a one star review.
In conclusion, once my funds are made available I plan on pulling them out and taking them to an honest bank (if one exists) that follows their own policies and I would suggest others do the same.

If you are a business look for a different bank. There app is old/outdated, communication isn’t good at this bank, many other options to choose from.

I admit, I wasn't expecting a whole lot I went in to open an account here simply because I've never heard of this bank, but I was very pleasantly surprised! This is the most high tech bank I've ever seen, and they seem willing to look for better, more efficient ways to provide banking services. They are a small regional bank who seems to genuinely appreciate your business - - no matter how humble your financial profile. They are genuinely nice folks with a heart to serve, and I definitely suggest giving them a try!

I experienced major difficulties with the use of my dollar bank business credit card and Mr.Lafayette and dollar bank staff worked diligently to assist me.Mr. Lafayette was very professed & proficient at his job. His dedication to assist & go above and beyond calmed my spirit. I really appreciated his attention to detail & leadership.Dollar bank is definitely not just a bank but more like family. They stand on their word!It’s so easy to open an account with a bank but it’s even better to bank with experienced workers when your having difficulties.... So if your looking for a new bank I recommend opening an account at the the dollar bank on independence.

I don't know why people are saying you can't transfer money on this app, or things like that. I have no issues transferring money, getting my direct deposit. Customer service has strange hours I'll admit but it's a very independent bank and it's not huge like Bank of America or Citibank. I've never had a problem with them. But I guess everyone has their own experience but I have three different accounts with them and I have no issues with anyone of them transferring money or anything to do with money being moved.Their online support gets back to you within 24 hours and they always fix any problems if any

I've had a terrible experience with Bill Thomas, mortgage loan officer with Dollar Bank. While I understand my mortgage application didn't go through based on how my Trust was structured, my credit card was charged on 7/7 for the appraisal that was never ordered.Here we are almost 4 months later and I cannot even get Bill Thomas to give me a response as to will I ever see my Appraisal charge refunded back to my account. I've had to take it up the chain over there to other contacts in other departments and cannot get an answer.The service has been terrible to get anyone to give a straight answer. I wouldn't suggest utilizing them until they get their act together and treat their customers with the proper service a bank needs to provide. There are plenty of banking alternatives.In this day an age you need to EARN my business, not EXPECT it.

I needed to open a new business account and they made it super easy. I had some questions and concerns going in, but they took care of everything. I was using an online bank but hated not having a personal banker to work with who knew me and my business needs. I'm all set now....and they let me know that I could get a small business loan when/if I needed one....seriously, that's awesome!

OH wow, there are no words to express how awesome Dollar Bank is to it's customers. This branch where Lafayette Judkins is located is the bomb. Lafayette and his staff are so patient, kind, helpful and understanding. They answer all your questions and concerns. It is to your advantage to stop in and meet them before you make any decisions.
