The only thing about this place that deserves more than 1 star is the location on the beach. My room had multiple areas on the ceiling and wall that were patched or painted over and not completed or peeling. The lighting fixture in the bathroom is rusted and 2 light bulbs were out, that's a simple fix. The door know in the bathroom was wiggling, again, simple fix. The room had a horrible smell. The door to the balcony was difficult to open because all the parts are rusted. Went to the pool and had to clean the trash out of the pool. The pool area had towels and trash that appeared to be left out there for an extended period of time. The grounds outside were just trashy. Would not recommend this place to anyone

Don’t get confused by the Ocean 27 restaurant building photos. The only reason I’m giving more than 1 star for any category is that the people working here were nice and the location is good but the rooms were rough. Had to look at 8 different rooms to find one that didn’t absolutely stink. The “winner” had no heat on a cold weekend. Nothing felt that clean. Most of the lights were broken. The walls were paper thin - I know because we were staying next to the characters of squidbillies come to life. I don’t even know what they were smoking but it didn’t smell or sound recreational. Beachfront but windows so dirty you could barely tell. Room service never came. Coffee machine broken. Trash like junk furniture all over the grounds.

DONT COME HERE JUST PAY THE EXTRA MONEY FOR A DIFFERENT ROOM. It was so dirty and the air conditioning blew out hot air it felt like 80 degrees in the room. I asked if someone could come fix it she said yes she’ll call her husband. NO ONE SHOWED UP so I asked if we could move to another room her response was we don’t have anymore rooms. We had to sleep with the door open and all you could hear was guys yelling at females and I even seen people climbing up the balconies. Not too safe. But the view was beautiful but for the price I wouldn’t dare do it again.

Recently stayed here with my family and the ac was blowing hot air, drove out of state to stay here and ended up moving rooms, still didn’t work. I had to pack my stuff up and drive hours back home because I refuse to pay for something that has no AC. Ridiculous!! Never would return!! Oh let’s not forget broken glass on the balcony!!

Recently stayed here for 4 days with my boyfriend. We had the "King Suite", which the only good thing about this entire room was the view and distance of the beach from our balcony. The toilet seat was broken, and more than half of the outlets and lamps did not work. The couches were beyond worn out and torn, and the room just did not look clean at all. The AC didn't work, it just blew out hot air so we had to sleep with the balcony door open to get air in the room. Housekeeping showed up 1 time in the entire 4 days we stayed. He barged in when I told him to give me a second (I was changing), and when I asked him if he could come back in 5 minutes, he never returned. We did not have a single housekeeper come for the rest of the trip. I was also charged a separate $50 charge from the hotel once I got home, and when I tried to contact the hotel, the phone kept ringing and then ultimately went straight to just the busy tone dial. I would recommend paying more to stay somewhere else. There are a ton of other hotels in the area with the same great views.Walkability: Right next to the beach and boardwalk with a lot of shops and restaurants in the area.

Went and visited a friend from out of town and boy that room was scary. No working air, no working heat, loud radiator noise although the heat and air didn't work! Beautiful view of the beach and strip/boardwalk

We had an amazing time despite the rainy weekend! The location was perfect, the room was clean and the hotel was quiet! I'll be going back again soon!

Ignore the negative comments. For the price and location, this place is great. One of my go-to hotels when visiting the ocean front. 10/10 recommend.

**BUYER BEWARE**I stayed here One night, the Lobby smelled of food the desk woman was eating. Absolutely smelled bad, upon booking for what I thought was a low price I was charged an $8 resort fee that was non refundable. When I asked what the resort fee was for it was the pool (out of season in March) the refrigerator that was dirty, the microwave that was also dirty. Upon checking into my room there was a crushed spider on the wall dead bugs in the corner and even dead flies on my towels. When I decided not to stay there they tried to challenge Expedia and disconnected their phones so Expedia could not contact them. For a refund I needed to dispute it with my credit card company which was another entire mess. When I say dirty and outdated rooms I mean out of all the hotels on the boardwalk this was by far the most disgusting. Expedia offered a refund right away. STAY AWAY.DO NOT STAY HERE.

The rooms are very nice for the price and the oceanfront location. Everything in our room worked fine, other than the television box that constantly shut off, although this was easily fixed by placing it on the floor. The only service problem was that our keycards constantly stopped working randomly, forcing us to get new cards everyday essentially. Overall, it is a great place to stay, would recommend.

The hotel (well technically a motel) is affordable for a reason. My dad reserved a room at this hotel due to its great location and cheap price. While both are true, the rooms are pretty outdated. What shocked us the most is that our room (343) had multiple appliances that just didn’t work. The showerhead and the hair dryer both didn’t work at all. The front wasn’t willing to help even when we voiced our complaints.Anyways, please avoid if possible.

We arrived at VA Beach on Jan. 3 for a few days of rest and exploration... and 3 different area hotels that Google said were "pet friendly" turned out not to be. We were parked near 23rd St., and I saw an elderly man sweeping up stray trash while wearing a jacket that said something like "Beach Ambassador" on the back, so I asked him, and he directed me to the Ocean 27 Hotel, which advertised its pet-friendliness on its sign. The lady at the front desk told me the rate - which was off-season-low - I gave her my ID and credit card, and she gave them back with the key cards. The room was on the ground floor, and the key card had to be held against the doorknob casing for a moment before the sensor released the lock.It was a simple room, with 2 full-size beds - the front desk did not give me another option and did not tell me that no others were available. A small refrigerator, a tiny microwave, a coffee maker, and even a small, eldery safe were included. It was basic, but all we intended to use it for was sleep. On the plus side, there was a back door that led to a lawn, followed by the boardwalk, and then the beach 50 yards away. On the minus side, that door had a traditional lock, and we were given no traditional key for it... and it was easy to get locked out of it. The only other issue was that the bathroom vent fan did not work, so the bathroom quickly filled with steam even during just a warm shower.Even so, we were able to stay there with our dog, which was vital, and I have no serious complaints.

We took our 70 lb.13 yr. old pit bull with us for the first time. We had aground floor room with a patio door on the ocean side that was very convenient for taking the dog out. While it is not a 4 star hotel, we found it to be very clean and everything was in working order. There are good restaurants next to the hotel on either side as well as across Atlantic Ave. We went late September to early October when the beach was not crowded and we could take the dog on the beach. It's not fancy, but I thought it was better than some other hotels I where I have stayed for about the same price that were not at the beach.

The overall experience wasn't bad. There was an ironing board, which was unexpected and welcome as I had clothes that needed ironing. The only negative I experienced was a confusing thermometer. Other than that, the back door literally opened up to the boardwalk on Virginia Beach... And falling asleep to the crashing waves was a subtle touch, but very much appreciated.Walkability: The back door literally opened to the boardwalk. The hotel was located on the strip, within walking distance to a plethora of shops and restaurants.
