Spent a romantic night here coming from WV. We stayed at the Spring suite and it was quaint and well decorated. The room was cozy with everything we needed to relax and enjoy our stay. The staff brought us tasty breakfast in the morning. We loved staying in such a unique historic little

I don’t normally leave a review, of any kind, but this place is too good not to! Such a hidden gem. Crazy close to the Jefferson Pools and the Homestead. Adorable rooms, and breakfast is included and brought to your door! The Waterwheel restaurant is on site and has a surprisingly incredible menu, but also an ambiance that can’t be beat. We usually go to the Jefferson at the Omni, but this won our hearts, and palates. We are (kind of) foodies and we’re really impressed with the menu and the service. We love everything about this adorable place and cannot wait to come back!

We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary on Saturday the 20th of January to Sunday the 21st, at the Gristmill Inn. The Barley room was very nice, clean and comfortable. Originally we booked the Loft room, but because of some issues, we couldn’t stay there. Kate was very accommodating and kind about the matter. We appreciated that greatly! We had a great pickled shrimp appetizer and seafood for our dinner. The chocolate mousse and espresso ice cream dessert was very nice too!Thank you for being one of the nicest places in our area. We will be back. Best Regards, Jeff and Susanna

The gristmill is so special, we’ve come back every year for 5 years now. The service is wonderful and the breakfast is delicious. I recommend this place to everyone I know.Food & drinks: We always go to the waterwheel restaurant which never disappoints. Mikey is a great bartender.

Martha’s Vineyard in the mountains…understated, quiet elegance, far removed from the sturm & drang of it’s colossal neighbor, The Homestead. Everything about Gristmill Square screams charm, and delivers. Highly recommend for the discriminating traveler, a must.

UPDATE: We were issued a partial refund in response to my review. I feel like they made things more than right, so please keep that in mind as you read my original review below. I am updating stars to reflect my final experience.ORIGINAL REVIEW:Overall, we enjoyed our one-night stay very much.I only have two complaints. First, the area rug is nailed to the floor. This wouldn't be a problem except the nails are raised from the hard floor, so while the carpet squishes under your feet, the nails do not, and stepping on them without shoes is unpleasant.Second, you're supposed to call for your breakfast between 8 and 10am. That said, we weren't able to get through to someone, despite calling several times. We ended up eating something on the way home, and didn't get to experience the breakfast at all.

What a gem! From the easiest check-in experience to the beautiful setting and the delicious food, this is an ideal B&B for people who want private relaxation! There is no pressure to be social (though there is no discouragement for those seeking that too). The separated buildings are all lovely; we stayed in the Spring Suite in the Blacksmith House. It was spacious and there was clearly care taken to include historic aspects while integrating modern comforts (like the deep jetted tub). The rooms include plenty of linens, toiletries, a glass bottle freshly filled with water, an ice bucket, and a coffee maker with the necessities. Our room also had a mini fridge and an electric fireplace. The Waterwheel Restaurant made us a delicious dinner and delivered it to our room, too! The town of Warm Springs is quaint and picturesque (the lovely clock tower chimes but not too loudly; we could only hear it while outside and nearby), but do be prepared to have a plan for meals. There are no supermarkets and very few restaurants in town. Luckily, the Inn can take care of that, too! Breakfast is delivered daily in a basket; for us, the first day was egg-and-sausage biscuits, fresh fruit, a pastry, and orange juice, plus tea or coffee. The second day was a piece of breakfast casserole and a slice of banana bread plus the same fruit and beverages. Everything was great and served at the right temperature! Overall, this was one of the best places I've ever stayed, and I look forward to returning! Thank you, everyone!

The perfect location for unique lodging and a delicious restaurant. The motorcycle roads are sublime in every direction from this lovely inn, and the food is fantastic. The breakfast also was insanely good. I cannot wait to return!

Nestled between the Allegheny and Blue Ridge mountains lies this gem. From breathtaking views to the warm creek, you can dip your toes in this venue is perfect for a romantic getaway. While our trip was only 2 days it didn't disappoint. The Turley suite offers a soaking tub and large walk-in shower, comfortable queen bed, indoor seating area with cable TV, a cute porch with table and chairs to enjoy the fresh mountain air and the peaceful sound of the creek flowing near the property. Also on the property is the Waterwheel restaurant, be sure to book your reservation when booking your stay at the Gristmill so you do not miss out on the incredible food. Another wonderful addition to our stay was the in room hot breakfast we were given each morning. Normally, like most moms we do not eat breakfast, however I could not pass up yogurt parfait coupled with a breakfast casserole that was the perfect start to our day on the Jackson River. The staff was friendly, accommodating and respected our privacy as well as offered great advise on the must-see destinations in the area. Warm Springs Valley offers a variety of activities, I recommend taking a kayak trip down the Jackson River, enjoy a relaxing soak at the Warm Spring Pools just a short 2-minute drive from the Gristmill Square. This trip was one for the memory books and we will be returning. If you are reading this review, book the room, take the trip, and make the memories you will not be disappointed.Nearby activities: Jackson River, offers a variety of outdoor activities. I recommend booking a kayak trip with Allaghany Outdoors to view the 300' cliffs, crystal clear water, and exciting class I and II rapids. Chatting with the locals is always a plus too.Warm Springs Bath, book the 50 minute soak, you will not regret it. Take a hot shower before you go so your skin can soak up all of the minerals. We left with soft skin and a clear mind for our drive home. A fantastic end to our stay.Food & drinks: Waterwheel Restaurant, offers a small but flavorful selection of 5 star meals. Offers unique dishes that include locally sourced beef, mountain trout, and a tomato salad that was a delightful addition to my meal.Sam Snead Tavern, offers a variety of dishes but I recommend one of the steak entrees, by far the best. Enjoy a cocktail from the bar, you will want another, the bartender defiantly knows how to make a good drink that can be enjoyed with your meal.

This small family-owned inn is a perfect get-away into the mountains. It has just the right blend of sophisticated elegance and understated casualness. In a micro-village surrounded by wooded hills this former gristmill is on a site that's been a mill since before our independence from Great Britain. A pleasant little brook still flows by the giant water-wheel. The proprietors, Kate & John, imbue the place with an authentic personal warmth. The restaurant is first class - really fine food and a great choice of wines curated by John who is a certified sommelier. Attached to the restaurant is an intimate bar that could have been a small pub teleported from some English village. The rooms are stylishly antique without being so delicate you feel like you could break something. The Inn is in effect a series of historic buildings grouped around as a sort of campus. At its center is a pea-graveled courtyard with tables spread about for outdoor dining or just relaxing with drinks. The whole experience is unforgettable - country with style.

Highly recommend this bed and breakfast. The staff was so nice, the rooms were big and clean, the breakfast was delicious, and the Waterwheel restaurant was phenomenal. We ate there three nights in a row and would do it again. The surrounding area is extremely quaint. This is definitely one of those special places that you want to tell everyone about and no one at the same time!

This was a surprisingly pleasant visit. Everyone was very accommodating and the rooms were very clean and welcoming. The environment was peaceful and quiet. Worth the money spent. The local attractions were very nice too. The restaurant at the mill was very good. They also had a wine cellar with great choices. The bartender Mikey was very knowledgeable and very friendly. This trip was very worth it. Breakfast is delivered to your room. You can hear the creeks and the downtown area had great places to visit. This was are second trip and being only 3 1/2 hours from DC. Family friendly and the owners are very down to earth. Words are not enough to describe this small town and very peaceful. Supporting local farmers for eating local fresh foods.
