After a few weeks of using 4P, I am officially impressed by the quality of produce. Our family hasn’t been pleased with grocery store produce for a while, so we figured we might as well try something new. 4P was the answer to our problems. The variety is great and everything is very fresh, especially considering it’s winter. I will be excited to try the Summer fruits and vegetables. If you’re looking to try a CSA, this is a good one.

The produce is super fresh, meat is high quality and a good price, and because of their partnership with a number of local farms they have a really great selection. I was very impressed with the quality and volume of everything that I got, especially compared to how affordable it is. I love that 4P Foods has made the process of getting food via CSA so easy and convenient. You can get local veggies, meat, dairy, and pantry items for a really good price, no more than you would pay at the grocery store, and I feel great knowing that I am supporting local farms. It's really easy to put in my order, select what I want each Saturday and then just sit back and wait for my delivery. I also love the recipes that they send for ideas on dishes to make. The delivery is made to my front door, which is huge considering that I live in an apartment. I have definitely recommended to all of my friends!

Perks: - great delivery service, on time, they text you when they are close by - super customizable, can skip weeks too - website is finally functional (thank you!) - interesting selection of items - add on select items from the protein, pantry, and produce section to your order I signed up in September for a small produce bag, dairy bag (which I skip occasionally) and half dozen eggs (there's two of us, and we cook a lot - this is a great setup for us). 4p is very responsive in terms of customer service. My issue is that food oftentimes spoils before the next delivery comes, even when properly stored in the green bags they provide - I once got a half and half carton whose "sell by date" was just a week from my delivery time - there'sno way that I, the only fatty dairy drinker in this house, can go through a pint of half and half that fast (customer service said it must have been an error in moving inventory, and credited my account). Sometimes with non-local things (like the oranges that came in my last bag) it's a real wild card - those oranges were inedibly unripe. Beyond the inconvenience of mistakes and inconsistent quality, what rubs me the wrong way is that I can't adapt - sometimes when I've gotten something that went rotten unexpectedly quickly, I don't know what to avoid because I don't know the supplying farms and who sends which item. When I've sent complaints, they have gladly refunded the item cost, but what I assume from at CSA that's locally focused on organics is that you get the freshest stuff, which typically last longer than what you would get at the "organic" section at your local market. I'm torn whether to stay, because I really like their mission, or find another service.

So thankful to be a customer of this company for so many reasons!(1) opportunity to support a network of passionate farmers, (2) ability to enjoy foods in their rightful season, (3) not overspending at the grocery store resulting in waste, (4) ease of delivery/pick-up options, (5) proud to be a part of sustainable agriculture, and (6) enjoy the grocery tips and recipe ideas. Getting your order right is more trouble than it’s worth. Food quality is generally good. Berries are hit or miss with most being fresh but have gotten some that were a little past prime. Biggest problem is getting what you order. Need to check multiple times to be certain your items are not deleted or a customized bag does not revert to the standard which for me has a bunch of stuff that will not be eaten. This is the third time there was a significant ( more than 2/3 of the order) error in my order. Like supporting local farmers but 4P makes it really hard.

I just received my second single box and could not be more excited. The fruit arrived around the same time both weeks, with clear text and email communication in the delivery timeline. My pint of blueberries arrived fully crushed and I reach out to the team to see what they could do. And within minutes, I had a response from my initial point of contact and the customer care associate. 4p foods has been such a bright spot during a time in our country where systemic racism continues to impact many Black people and other marginalized communities. Participating in a sustainable food source and cooking a plant-based diet are ways that I am resisting the impact of capitalism on black bodies. I would love to see more foods sourced from black owned farms in the region.

If there is a bright spot resulting from the stay-at-home period, that spot is the fact that I’m not traveling and finally joined 4P foods! Delicious fresh foods, and I love the fact that I have flexibility to adjust or pause my order each week so when life gets back to normal I can buy extra for future guests or pause if I’m out of town. Also, as the primary shopper for my household, I get tired of the absence of surprise/interest in my diet (especially after weeks at home). 4P farmers delight me with new delicious products, I’m very happy to say!
