We loved the cabin we stayed in and it had great views. We ordered the 5 course meal for dinner one night. All of the courses were great except the two main courses. The Filet Oscar and the Garlic Butter Pork Chop were not enjoyable. They both lacked any real flavor and were tough to chew. We expected far more especially for the money paid for the dinners.

An absolute gem! This was by far the best trip my husband and I have ever been on. We came for the views and relaxation (which was even better than expected), but will be back annually due to the world class hospitality of the inn staff. The personalization in the service and the attention to detail to anticipate our needs was the best we’ve ever experienced and resulted in much needed rest and rejuvenation. It was just what a momma with 3 young ones needed! Thank you so much, Iris Inn! We cannot wait to make this a yearly trip!Rooms: Our cabin was perfect! I wish it was my room at home! Everything you need In one place to aid in the relaxation and comfort. Cozy fireplace, nice sized porch with hot tub, and fabulous bathroom- with a Mountain View from the shower!Food & drinks: Delicious! Everything was great-from breakfast to dinner. One thing that really stood out was the simplicity of the menu. I never realized how overwhelming most menus are until being at the Iris Inn. Less time staring at a menu and more time to connect with your company. Win win.Noteworthy details: The personal texting to communicate. Made things so much easier. We felt like guests and not like a “room”.

My husband and I came here for a romantic weekend getaway and largely enjoyed our stay. We opted for a cabin which was inarguably beautifully crafted and decorated. With the combination of the fireplace, the hot tub, and the private views of the forest, I can’t remember when I last felt so relaxed. That said, there’re some elements that ultimately left us unconvinced of the Inn’s self-proclaimed “5-star luxury” title. Our greatest disappointment was, unfortunately, our dining experience. We each opted for a 4-course meal prepared by the Inn’s chef who far exceeded our expectations in professionalism and service but fell short on execution. My first course was beet salad and let me tell you, I love beets--could eat them every day. The salad had red and golden beets and while the red beets were done well, the golden beets were ice cold and over cooked, mushy, and goopy with bits of ice crystal in them. I couldn’t eat it. My main course was the “truffle” tortellini which is what I was most looking forward to because like everybody else, man do I love truffles. But there was no hint of truffle to be found. It was just mushroom tortellini which I would’ve been happy with if it were presented as mushroom tortellini. The tortellini itself was cooked in the center but the edges of the pasta were crunchy like uncooked pasta. Additionally, the temperature variance of the plate was drastic with the pasta being barely warm, the sauce being room temp, and the side of mushrooms being piping hot. My husband’s halibut was tough and he had a hard time getting through it. We both found the dessert courses unremarkable. Additionally, while we received attentive and prompt service in the dining room, our server made a joke about my table mannerisms that I really didn’t appreciate. I know it was in jest but I didn’t like being “poked at” while enjoying (or not really enjoying) an expensive meal. The dining experience was such a letdown that we decided not to risk the spa and just enjoy the beautiful cabin. But some things to note about the cabin: Highway noise!! The Inn is situated closely to the highway and a railroad track and it can be very loud from the hot tub. Thankfully these noises lessen later in the evening and do not carry into the cabin when the door is closed but the star of the cabin is the hot tub! The noise issue may be better in the warmer months when there are leaves on the trees. Furthermore, some heating elements in our bathroom appeared to not be working so our feet would alternate between hitting heavenly heated tile and cold tile. In our cabin, the hot tub is situated parallel to the head of the bed and is separated by the windows of the screened-in porch. Of course, it remains on all night and so I found it difficult to fall asleep to the incessant humming and vibrating—just something to consider if you have difficulty falling asleep under the best circumstances like me. And there are paint smears on the window treatments in the bathroom. Does it affect anything? No, but it’s a bit sloppy and it does, along with some of the other factors I mentioned, detract from the “luxury” feel the Inn is trying to promote. In short: We’re both glad we stayed here, wish we’d have skipped the dining experience, and aren’t sure the price point of the cabins warrants a second visit.

This was our second time staying in a cabin. I absolutely love this inn! My hubbie and I stay at B&Bs often and this is our fav esp in VA! I cannot wait to come back. We stayed over turkey day to have some alone time and loved it. Breakfast is always amazing. Chef makes delicious desserts too! The hot tubs are so nice and private. Romantic cabin and overall the inn is so pretty. I loved fireplace as well. I feel so insanely relaxed here i hate leaving! Ms.Coo Is the inn cat and as animal lovers we get excited to see her too! Staff are always so sweet and accommodating. Book it and treat yourself! Thank me later ;)Noteworthy details: Small trail on property is neat to explore

My partner and I recently stayed in one of the cottages, which was pretty nice. I wouldn't expect any less given the room rates. We kept the air handler running constantly to drone out the nearby highway, which you can see is quite close on any map. If I had to guess, the noise probably isn't as bothersome in the summer, when the trees' branches are adorned by heavy with green, sound-dampening leaves. The cottage had an exceptionally soft king sized bed and 2 firm queen beds. Sounds great if you want to bring family along, assuming everyone is 10 or over (smaller kids are forbidden) and that you pay extra each person beyond 2 people. According to the website, a lot extra, considering the pricey base rate. The reason for my mediocre review is the food, which I wouldn't recommend, and the staff, who don't listen well and aren't accommodating at all. The dinner menu is to be avoided. Want to ask for changes in the courses? Only very minor changes are accepted. There was a crab cake course, which I couldn't eat due to a shellfish sensitivity. Their solution? For the same price, they would give me the paltry veggies that the crab cake would usually sit on, sans crab cake. What a great solution - for them.In advance of our stay, I asked for a certain dinner time, which they said was available but later I found out that they never booked the time we agreed on. Oops? A week in advance, I also asked for a birthday cake with chocolate frosting and yellow cake, which deviated from their standard options of white frosting on yellow cake or chocolate on chocolate. They agreed to make the cake the way I requested, but then failed to do so. A tiny $40 cake that wasn't right was a minor detail but seemed ridiculous.

Another wonderful stay. The room was perfect, the dinners were just fantastic and, as usual. the staff helped us with any questions we had. We come here every year for the fall color and the wineries. Sitting out on the upstairs patio with a glass of anything gives you a great start for dinner. What's not to like?

Excellent place for a long weekend with great food, service, clean and spacious rooms and the best views!! This place exceeded our expectations and was centrally located to do activities in Staunton or Charlottesville. Lots to do in this area.

This is my husbands and I fourth trip to the Iris Inn and we absolutely love it. The atmosphere is relaxing and the views are breathtaking. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. We did the prefixed four and five course dinner at the inn and the food was simply amazing! Kathy, one of the inn keepers is so friendly and even gave us an opportunity to see a breathtaking sun sent during dinner. The rooms in the main inn are gorgeous, clean, and comfortable. The room we stayed in, had a door that lead right out to the deck which overlooks the mountains. We will for sure be visiting again!

Our stay at Iris Inn was perfect! The owner/manager were so pleasant and helpful before, during, and after our stay. We wanted the privacy of a Airbnb with the perks of a luxury hotel and we felt this was exactly what we got at Iris Inn.We chose Cabin #5 and loved the quiet and privacy the wooded setting provided. The screened in porch and the hot tub area were exactly what we hoped for! We absolutely loved the rocking chairs and the table on the screened porch. (The manager even shared a link for similar ones for our porch at home after we left!) We visited in the summer and found the the trees do block out a lot of the sunset view, but it can easily be seen from one of the Iris Inn's many decks or chairs around the fire pits. Our cabin was immaculately clean. I’m very picky and found the indoor and outdoor spaces to be impeccable. There were so many well thought out features for comfort and utility - plenty of glassware options, bedside reading lamps, dimmable recessed lighting, floor-to-ceiling blinds, heated bathroom floors, exterior sliding door from the hot tub right into the rain shower, super soft linens, remote-controlled heating/air (yes you can change the room temp from bed!) and so many more.We will 100% be back and are already looking at our calendar to try to plan a long weekend this fall. Thanks to everyone at Iris Inn for the wonderful stay!Rooms: Because I want to be completely honest, we did have one complaint. The full-size mirror in our cabin was bowed in the center and horribly distorting. It’s a small thing, but the mirror was just so unflattering.Food & drinks: The breakfast basket and delicious coffee (we paid for them to deliver morning coffee service but there is a Keurig as well). The breakfast experience truly enhanced our stay. We looked forward to see what unique and flavorful dishes were delivered each morning and were never disappointed. From asparagus and bacon quiche and stuffed pancakes, to cherry danish waffles and sausage and egg puffed pastries - each dish was original and incredible. They also serve their amazing breakfast buffet with a mimosa bar in the lobby.

AMAZING. My wife and I have been fortunate enough to travel many places in-state, in the country, and in the world. Little did I know that ALL of the wonderful places we have visited would be topped by a luxurious quaint property only 30 minutes from our home. To say we have a high bar when it comes to getaways and experiences is an understatement. In absolutely EVERY way our expectations were exceeded during our two day stay in Cabin #6. THE CABIN. A high-end experience. THE DINING. Folks--as good as the cabin was, I was probably most blown away by the dining. 5 course menu was as good as any place you have ever been. Unique but familiar, each dish was prepared and served hot and right after the other (how they did this I do not know!) by our amazing server and innkeeper Cathy. She did an amazing job it is to be noted! Probably a bigger surprise than the dinner was the breakfast. My wife and I decided that the two days of breakfast at the Iris was better than any we had had before. EVER. A fantastic stay and a gem--right in the Shenandoah Valley. We have decided this will be our spot for Anniversaries--we will come back again and again. It is not inexpensive---but offers amazing value if you are looking for a top notch experience and getaway to rival anywhere in the world. Well done Iris Inn!!

A celebratory weekend at Iris Inn is food for the mind, mouth, and spirit. We were celebrating my husband's birthday and were most excited about the proximity to Shenandoah's southern entrance. The service and attention to detail at Iris Inn was simply outstanding. The innkeeper accommodated a last minute request to add their hiking package to our stay, and with the heat this weekend, we needed every one of those treats. Breakfast was filling, varied, and delicious, and happy hour was great to boot. We look forward to coming back someday.Nearby activities: So very close to Shenandoah's southern entrance, which was the big perk for us.Food & drinks: The breakfast was delightful - a great mix of savory, sweet, healthy, and decadent to start off the day. If we weren't going off to hike, I would have gladly participated in the mimosa breakfast bar too!Noteworthy details: The entire inn was decorated in a calming and lovely decor. The add on packages give a great way to customize the weekend that what you're looking for - from activity to relaxation.

Very nice, comfortable. Amenities were perfect. Loved the hot tub in a tranquil setting. Definitely will be back next year, possibly in the fall.
