I was denied a very small car loan by the bank manager at Farmer's and Miner's Bank in Weber City, Va. She claimed that I was 30 days late on my current small loan, which is NOT true (VERIFIABLE). She also seemed upset about a recent transaction that I did for my son, a member of the bank. My son asked me to get his current balance, which they refused to do, although I have full and total Power of Attorney, as legally prepared by an attorney. The POA is supposed to be honored anywhere upon presentation because this is a legal document that does not need approval by anyone. They didn't honor my legal authority, stating that my POA had to be approved by their management (does their management consist of attorneys with legal training?). As I was leaving, I made the comment (to no one in particular) that it was reasons like this that I wouldn't use their bank (meaning that I would not become a member, nor use their direct deposit). In the bank manager's call to me about the car loan denial, I thought she sounded like she already had an attitude. I also think the bank manager acted unprofessional and rude, to the point of being sarcastic. I really didn't appreciate her comments and attitude. Her disposition is not befitting a bank manager, nor conducive for future business, at least where I'm concerned!! It is my opinion, right or wrong, that the bank manager denied my car loan because she didn't like my negative comment about her bank, NOT because of her false allegation that my current loan payment was over thirty days late, which is a false and provably false. I don't need her bank for a loan because there are too many other banks who treat their customers with the respect and dignity they deserve. I plan to contact my lawyer and report this incident to him and see what recourse I might have regarding my POA and her refusal to honor and respect a legal document!! As an aside, I think their banking hours need to be more convenient and extended for their customers. I personally do not recommend this bank!!
