Cool vibe restaurant with a very interesting craft cocktails/mocktails list, craft beers, and delicious sharing plates and entrees. Farm to table brings you the freshest ingredients. We enjoyed it so much we went again the same trip. Bradley is an excellent server.

My wife and I are locals and have been to Amber Ox on multiple occasions and this evenings was to celebrate my birthday. This is “the bar” when it comes to quality of food, customer service, and an atmosphere that you hesitate to leave. Our server, Laura, arrived at our table with a genuine smile that set us up for another enjoyable evening. Thank you Amber Ox Public House! We’ll see you again.

Bryan was our server for another family birthday dinner. He did a fabulous job, everything was perfect as usual. We always recommend the Amber Ox to friends for fantastic food and great atmosphere, and if you’re really lucky, you might get Bryan as your server!

First visit to Amber Ox and it was amazing. We are from Richmond and my husband works in Williamsburg so has been before. We had biscuit board, truffle fries and Brussels- drinks were perfect too! Laura was our server. Love this place!

The brunch menu looked great and there were absolutely inspired/elevated aspects of everything we tried. That said, there were equal amounts of oversights with each dish we tried that could have really pushed the experience over the top, if rectified. The burger looked great, but really wasn't. The meat was over cooked, which was the recommended doneness, and the egg was overhard instead of over easy. We weren't even asked how we wanted the egg cooked. My guess is that it sat under a heat lamp for too long before coming out to the table. The Shrimp and grits were over priced for being a grits-based dish, and the portion was much smaller than expected. For $28, no doubt because of the shrimp and tasso quality, could have had more grits in the bowl to sell the idea that you're getting your moneys worth. (An easy adjustment which would pay dividends) this dish also lacked acid and lacked balance. The kids portions were great for splitting. If I were the chef, I'd make the portions smaller and lower the price. BTW, the ham and cheese sandwich is amazing, but have you met a child with a mouth large enough to take a bite of this sandwich? The person who decided to use the thickest sourdough slices they could find obviously doesn't have small children. Great sandwich, but hard to eat for a kid.A quick note about the forced 20% gratuity. The explanation is that it helps the restaurant provide a liveable wage to their servers. 20% mandatory gratuity, regardless of party size is way overkill. Why wouldn't the owner just pay their workers minimum wage in the first place? Minimum wage, plus grateful patrons tipping 15, 18, or 20% is more than is commensurate for working in the food service industry. Requiring patrons to pay the salaries of the serving staff gives the owners a pass on being decent bosses, and only further lines their pockets. This also changes the social dynamic between the server to customer. My server was polite, but he didn't ask me how anything turned out, he didn't care to ask if we liked anything, he just didn't care ultimately if we were happy because, I can only assume that, in his mind he's still getting paid the same for what work he put in. There's either something very American or un-American about forced gratuity, I can't quite decide which.I wanted to love this place, but unfortunately there are just too many things keeping it from greatness.

I love love love this place. Food, atmosphere, staff — 10/10!!! Our server Bradley and his shadow Brian were amazing. We ordered cocktails, many appetizers, and a few main dishes and loved every single thing. I will definitely be returning. Thank you Jayson (the GM) and AO staff for a great dining experience.

My husband and I have had a wonderful experience every time we visit. The food is always delicious and the service is fantastic. We brought our kids last time and were very happy with the food options available as well as how welcoming our server was. We also ordered a few of their handcrafted cocktails that were absolutely delicious! We plan to come back every time we visit Williamsburg.Parking: We have never had an issue finding free street parking within a block or two.Kid-friendliness: Our kids enjoyed the options available on the kids menu and loved the hands-on activity given to them when we sat down. Service was very welcoming towards our kids.
