As of 2 weeks ago, the hotel was under renovations so they only assigned rooms along the perimeter. The pool was also closed. The front staff was welcoming and nice. The room was fine, nothing fancy. There was some staining along the bed skirt but no other concerns. It's a great location if you want to be close to busch gardens.

This hotel is ok. As of November 2024, there is a renovation effort happening that makes this a less desirable place to stay. The windows of our room were covered in plastic sheeting and the balcony was inaccessible. The room had a slightly weird smell that I couldn't place. The bathroom did not have a fan. But overall, it's not a bad place to stay for the price. I didn't interact much with staff, but everyone I talked to was friendly and helpful.
The elevator has a sign warning against more than 2 people at a time using the elevator, and the warning is not posted on every floor.

Nice place for families. I especially like their night auditor Kaytia she was absolutely awesome.
Nearby activities: Busch Gardens is a 3 min drive.
Water Country is a 6 min drive.

Room smells vaguely of urine. Furniture is ratty, paint is chipped, and carpet is damaged. Close to Busch gardens but far from everything else. Not cheap enough to make up for it's general shabbiness. First hotel I've stayed in where I thought to check for bed bugs (none found). Cheap motel level of quality. Definitely avoid

Nearby activities: We visited the salt spa while we were here… experienced the salt cave, very relaxing. Will do the salt float next time.
Food and drinks: Love to eat at Maurizio‘s!! It’s just around the corner.
Noteworthy details: Hot tub and indoor/outdoor pool were great! Very relaxing after a 6 hour drive. There is a courtyard next to the pool to relax in, sat out there and ate breakfast.

Front desk staff was friendly and courteous. Room was clean and comfortable. Great location and good price. Business center was helpful to get documents done for work. Starbucks coffee in lobby was added bonus. Great pool and hot tub. Gym was small and could use some help.

Room is okay. Service is good. Been here three days. Our oldest wanted to watch a specific tv show. The TV literally only has a power button and NOTHING ELSE... REALLY? Remote doesn't work. Tried to get new batteries. Nothing. Horrible business decision at a hotel to limit the use of entertainment. Luckily we have phones and iPads otherwise this is is just a place to sleep, not an actual room where you would hang out in today's world.

I booked this hotel along with two other families for one night. We booked about a month in advance and I received a confirmation number through Capital One Travel. The two other families checked in and when it was my turn, I was informed my room was cancelled and they were sold out. When asked why it was cancelled I was told “the credit card on file was declined.” This is false and the room had already been paid in full. They made no effort to find us a room in this hotel or any of the other Marriott hotels in the area. When I called capital one travel to get my refund three days later, capital one confirmed the reservation was never actually cancelled. When he called the hotel to process the refund they said they could not without additional approvals. So now I’m waiting for them to approve my refund for a stay that I WANTED but was told at the desk they could not fulfill. This hotel would get zero stars if I could.

Don't do it. Great location. But dated hotel. Needs to be renovated. They very few staff they have seem ok, but there are not enough of them.
The rooms- there is no soap- none. The shower head is coming out of the wall. The ceiling is falling apart. They provide 4 packs for making coffee in your room. They are all decaf. Go downstairs to pay more for coffee and the line is crazy long with only one poor employee trying to keep up.
The pool- way too much chlorine. Lots of rust on the metal in and around the pool. The towels are terrible.
The front desk- we tried to buy waters and snacks but there was no staff at 9p. We left a note.
The ice machines do not work.
Rooms: They are dated.
Food and drinks: There is no staff to sell you drinks or food.

Sad place for a Marriott. The carpet was dirty, the beds were dusty and the tub was disgusting and the ceiling in the bathroom was creepy and mossy. All my family was sneezing and coughing all nigth. Recomendation Please do not visit this place.

Staff wonderful! Felt badly for them because of very rude man! Looked like con artist! They handled him very professionally which he did not deserve!

This was a really great visit. This was the hotel all of my conference guest stayed in and they all seemed to enjoy the stay. The rooms were comfortable and I was grateful for the early check ins because I had so many rooms to get checked in. I do think some updates can be done esthetically but overall excellent stay. Corey was top tier in customer service!

It was perfect because we were visiting for Busch gardens and water country. The room was small for the price but clean. Should remove the carpet. Quiet considering the train track behind it. The hot tub needs a better filtration system.

there is rust dripping from fixture in the bathtub, the handle to assist people getting in and out of the tub is ready to fall off, the front office staff were unavailable the first night (the only night i tried calling for information about the wifi since it wasn't connecting) and the trash cans were visibly dirty.
This is the first time I have ever stayed at a Marriot and wished i had a black light with me so I could check the sheets.
I spoke with others attending the same training I was taking part in and were staying at the Courtyard by Marriot in Newport News, and they reported similar experiences with the lack of quality and maintenance. I'm not sure if this is a pattern with Courtyard hotels specifically in VA, but I know that I will no longer stay at Courtyard hotels, and will hesitate to book with any Marriott hotel.
