Nice FamCamp. We had a multi-day stay. Our site was concrete, had a picnic table and fire ring. The Bath House was nearby and was clean. Though it was not advertised, there is an unsecure wifi network. The FamCamp was quiet and by appearances, most of the guest were in the area to attending training courses. There are a number of cabins nearby as well. Our site was full hookups, W/E/S and there was a dump station available near the exit that also had an Air and Vacuum Machines ($1.00 and $1.50). The only downside to this Park are the skunks. There is a large family of skunks that raid through the camp site at night. They were also seen along the road between the RV park and cabins, so if you want your dog in the evening be warned. The location makes getting around to local tourist sites easy.

Would be 5 stars if it weren't for the trails on the campsite. This is our second time visiting and it's one of our favorite little staycations. The first time we visited there was bad weather, but this time it was beautiful. So, we decided to take our dog on the trail before dinner. It was a lovely trail and a nice length at a little over a mile, but when it spit us out of the trail we were not even close to the campsite. We finally got our bearings and walked down a road that led us into view of the front of the campsite...but we were behind a locked fence. Our options were either to walk about a mile and a half back to the trail and through it or walk all the way around on the roads which would've been at least 2 miles. All that being said, nice campgrounds just beware of the trails. Go there and back or prepare for a long walk. No signage letting you know the trail mileage or map showing where it leads.

Could not use the outside grill, chairs, and the outside bench table. Grill was full of ashes, tables and chairs were coated with pollen and dirt. They know that you are coming, they could have least rinsed or somehow serviced these outdoor items. Other than that, l enjoyed the stay. Will come back.

Give it a try! If you frequent hotels this will not disappoint. Full kitchen and private lot does it for my family. Staying here while visiting Busch Gardens.

Good off-season, rustic facility in natural wooded riverside area. Convenient to all Williamsburg and Yorktown amenities and to I-64. Quiet, restful, with considerable wildlife. Cottages are dated, but generally well-equipped with good access and are several levels above tent camping, with good AC, heat, kitchens, cable TV, and bedding. The electric fireplace is a major benefit. The MWR personnel are most professional and thoughtful. Greda and Keisha.have been particularly helpful.

It's the middle of October and if you want to wind down and get away then, this is the place for you. Leave your expectations at the door and just relax. Listen to the water's bouncing against the rocky shore. Sit in a rocking chair on the porch with your tea or coffee while a breeze from the York river touches your face. Every now & then see a dolphin slowly breach the waters crest. The cottages are older but it fits being nestled amongst the tall pine trees. You have a tv, full kitchen, microwave and more. Now, if you're a high maintenance person STAY AWAY this isn't for you! If you always have to find something to keep you busy STAY AWAY! If you wanna go on a nature hike, fish, chill and are retired or active duty. As always I recommend traveling with mattress & pillow covers, this is ah new day and people are just nasty. Sitting on the porch in a rocking chair quietly watching the deer come out the tree line and listening to the wild turkey's chattering it up.

Chiggers, ticks, and mice-oh my!This review is for our week long stay at the CAX MWR Cabins.Checkin/Checkout-No one cares if your standing there waiting to be assisted. One employee actually said she was the "cleaning person" and really should not be assisting us. It takes waaaay too long due to both lack of interest on the staff's part, and the antiquated computer system MWR uses. The Cabin-They look like they had been renovated probably not too long ago. The inside looked modern and nice. But the AC does not work (picture 98 degrees and 120% humidity), the floors were dirty (I spilt something on the vinyl floor and was shocked to find the paper towel black with dirt), there were piles of candy wrappers under the kids bunkbeds from previous campers, you could not see out the windows due to LAYERS of cobwebs (so many cobwebs everywhere...), and the back door does not lock (afraid little ones would escape in the middle of the night).Crawling things-We knew bug spray was needed as you are right on the river and a fishing lake. But we did not expect to be covered in chigger bites and ticks from our first night sitting on the outdoor picnic table making smores. Something even ate the citronella candle we bought for the table! And the last straw was the mice running across the living room while we were watching TV on our last night there. When we told the front desk the next morning at checkout, they said "Mice...huh!"Be warned-you need to buy your own garbage bags & toilet paper (you get one of each for 6 people for one week), housekeeping only comes once PER WEEK (we never saw them and they did not return our messages), the towels are stained (which is terrifying because there are signs all over the cabin that you are liable for damages to the towels-how do you prove they were already bad?), and the only store on base closes at 4 (better shop in town on your way home from sightseeing). For $99/night we could have stayed right down the road at the many Airbnb rentals, and probably had a much more pleasant experience.

This is for the gate guards who wait to put more than one guard on post in the morning when there is 500 yards worth of traffic backed up. 10 out of 10 would not recommend.

Beautiful place! The cabins are spacious but a little dirty. I don't think it's been deep cleaned in a while and the floors are gross on your bare feet.

This is such a gorgeous place! We stayed here a couple of times in the fall of 2019. Jones Pond is beyond words especially at dawn. Can’t wait to visit again!

Great RV park if you want to just get away. Laundry facilities are clean and serviceable. Cement pads look fairly new with no cracks and are very level. My RV spot had a brand new water faucet installed so none of those constant drips while the water is on. Dump station also included a car vacuum which is a nice Touch if ya want to clean out your tow vehicle. Like others have stated, the WiFi and cell service isn’t great but my RV antenna was able to pull in about 25 digital TV channels. Great place and I know my family and I are coming back!PS....I do miss hearing the National Anthem and Retreat being played over the giant voice like they do here. The little things you miss when being retired.

I selfishly dont want to share this secret - but my family and I have been visiting this gem for years. The cabins are wonderful for the price as well as the location (close to everything but far enough away). In the summer you can enjoy the water and visit many historical locations and Water Country for the kids. Winter time is the best when you can enjoy the fire place after visiting Busch Gardens Winter Wonderland. If you want a beach the Yorktown Beach is very close, not over crowded and safe for the kids. Pass on the crowded Virginia Beach options - NWS is the best for an affordable and safe family getaway!
