I've always loved Michael's and Joey at the Winchester store is exceptional! Thank you so much for your generosity to the Rotary Club of Winchester.

Just went by to get a few drawing supplies, when I got to the counter there were two women, the lady at the register was nice enough and when I asked about military discount she said they do give it. Then when she tried to apply it it didn't work, the rude clerk standing on my side of the counter doesn't inventory (I guess) spoke up saying that I had to register online. I pulled out my phone and she continued snarky that "you have to be on a computer you can't do it on your phone inside the store", and that "you only get one discount anyways so just take the 5%". I paid, came out to my car, just logging into the site (yes... on my phone, and was able to verify my veteran status, oh and while doing so, it clearly says that the 15% vet discount stacks with any other discount offered. Unfortunately it isn't worth the 7.50 in gas to come back out here to complain but that's what yelp is for I guess. Happened 9/30 and about 20:45. I'm giving them two stars because they had what I wanted to buy, but through a lack of ease of use and rude/snarky behavior, that's all you get. Keep your products, replace your staff with nicer people.

I always go to Michael's first, for silk flowers. They have a great selection, or have the times I have been there. I like the quality of the flowers. The store also has many other crafty items. I have found the people that work there to be helpful.

There is a very rude attendant at this location that gives poor details on pricing!

I hate to say it, but Hobby Lobby will get you better pricing on framing and it takes much less time. Michaels is horrible with their framing department. I know, I know - Hobby Lobby is politically gross and the company has more hangups about reproductive decisions than Chik-fil-a does about what people do with their jinglejangles, but the Lord must really work in mysterious ways because those people do know their framing. Is there ever a reason to shop at Michaels? Sure. Sketchbooks go on sale often and the prices aren't too bad then. Grab your 40% off coupon from the website and grab some arts and crafts for your kids. Parking is plentiful. The strip mall is pretty dead, despite the eternal construction going on behind it. The employees are non-existent until you reach the cash registers, so leave your questions for Google. When you've selected your single purchase (to get that 40%!) and collected your receipt that comes in second only to CVS for length, skip down to Five Below to spend whatever pennies you have left on future offerings to the garbage man and then dodge the carloads of people trying to escape the adjoining parking lot for Chuck E. Cheese.

Three stars for the store as a place for basic craft supplies, one star for the framing. We took two prints here for framing and it took close to two months and several attempts to get a final product. The initial frames we ordered were chipped and rough cut in the corners, which the store attributed to the fact that they were their "value" line and the frames construction is outsourced, not done in store. We picked that style based on the look of the sample not the price, but why would they sell a product they know to be inferior? They sent the frame back and tried again, same result. Finally, we picked another type of frame which they gave us at the same price, but the whole process took months and there was awful communication. They called a couple of times, but didn't call back when we followed up, or would tell us it would be ready on a certain date only but when I got to the store there were no frames and no one called to say there was a delay. Okay for off the shelf items (even frames), just stay away from the custom framing.

I tasked my husband with replacing the glass covering a piece of art, no more than a foot wide and slightly Les in height. This was Not to replace the frame, not the mat, just the glass. He came back from Michaels's without the art. Apparently he had to leave it FOR TWO weeks....at a price tag of $80. I was floored. Absolute rip off. We are not talking a large piece of glass, or tempered glass, or even beveled thick glass. Just picture glass. I called to cancel the order and was told I had to come in, but the store would be closed by the time I arrived. I went he next day after work, and they refused to cancel the order stating it had already been started and would be ready by close of business. So, we waited for the call telling us thy our art was ready. I came...surprise, two weeks later. When I picked it up I asked why I took so long to call if it had been done for a week, and I was told it was just finished that morning. Last time I ever shop at Michaels. As a reference point, I paid over $600 to have three pieces (2.5'x1.5') framed and matted behind glass at a professional framing store in Warrenton. And these were nice frames with double mat. Michaels is just a rip-off and a group of liars.
