Very impressed with the beautiful grounds, attractive building exteriors, exquisite courtyard, spacious apartments in fact some are way too big at least for me. Impressed with management's efficiency, reliability, professionalism, attention to detail, and full disclosure. This is a happy, vibrant community.

Upper management cuts corners (fake, powdered eggs instead of real ones for example) with dire consequences for residents. The day to day experience is vastly different from what you’ll see when visiting.The people on the ground are generally kind, and some are absolutely amazing, but everyone is stretched way too thin due to upper management appearing to benefit as much as possible.Would recommend avoiding.Updated to respond:That certainly wasn’t my experience over the past years. WORK IN DINING SERVICES! IT ROCKS! You get to be on your phone all day, listen to headphones and make calls while on shift, and take two hours breaks! Would recommend to anyone looking for a laid-back no worries place to work. Honesty what I had heard about this place being strict and making sure service was correct and such is a complete lie! 10/10!!!

I have been living at Shenandoah Valley Westminster Canterbury (SVWC) for close to three months. I made my decision after being on waiting lists for five other CCRCs from coast to coast. The reason for pulling the trigger to go with SVWC was their superb large salt water indoor swimming pool and 24 hour well equipped exercise room. Kathy and Donna have been my training instructors in these two facilities and kept me inspired since I’ve been here. Today, for the first time, I went to a yoga class taught by Elaine. I will definitely be going back to Elaine’s classes too. I had no idea before moving to SVWC they would have so many other programs that would catch my interest. Last evening I attended a program given by two residents in our main activity room about their recent volunteer work in Alaska for the Department of the Interior. Also, yesterday, I saw another resident’s private car collection of about 20 cars. One car was a Model T Ford and another was a race car that went 350 miles an hour. I have been invited to meals with friends in the main dining room, bar, Westminister Canterbury Café, or Bistro dining room nearly every night since being here. I could go on and on about why I am so pleased with SVWC’s Life Care Program, the diversity and knowledge of the residents, etc., etc. However, my suggestion to anyone reading this is to come for a visit. I guarantee that you won’t be disappointed. And, if it turns out that you are, SVWC gives you a 12 month guarantee that will return your money. You can’t go wrong. John Sterle, (A happy resident)

The administration, the staff, the residents are all first-rate! It is a pleasant place to live and one where virtually all your wishes are accommodated. There is no other place where I would rather be -- and I have lived here nineteen years.

I visited today and was highly impressed by the cleanliness and professional of the staff! I got to speak with Kitty, the marketing specialist and she was very personable giving me some time to chat. Great community and even better people! Was visiting for offering our moving and removal services as and will definitely be referring my friends and family to this facility if needed!

It looks like the review get deleted.... At less the bad ones..... My experience of this place is horrible ..... The dining supervisors and mangers has no training and does not have ethics or boundaries training... So if you or in that area don't think anything going to change with the staff there because they run the show . Course if I would bring my boss in gifts I would too I guess.... It seems that if the staff don't like you they will tell lies so they get rid ... So I was never in there click .It bad because you would be the one doing the work while they sit... There was about seven enployee that got fired for having adrinking pool party one night get this they have seruity .24 /7 how did this happen... There wine lefted out in the dining room all night .. that's not very safe to leave out a resident could get into it and who's know what could happen..... There is three to four dining staff that run over there boss because he can't handle them. there 2CNA in one area with 19 resident.i have seen so.many people leave and more to come because of the way management is.... The last day I worked there the food was cold had to heat it up to serve it....the cook doesn't have any cooking experience or food handler card.... This is a place that runs out of food items so they have to run across the street to get more and from day to day you have the same people living there ..maybe a couple extra... This place has a big turn over in staff and I can see why..... I don't know about you but I wouldn't put my parents in there or tell anyone that it's a good place to work....... Theres alot of behide the seens going on.... I have heard many people that's leaving and looking for other jobs that will be fair and not afraid of there staff....... update.. after they let me go I did sign up for employment because I knew I didn't do anything wrong.. and I won then we had a another hearing and I won that hearing because they couldn't get there story start and it seem like the left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing.... After all those lies and made up stuff about me I look at it this way..I was a good worker and they lost out..... Maybe they will look at some of their staff and ask themselves ..am I keeping the wrong staff on to take care of our residents just because they bring me gift and celebrate my birthday?
