Will never shop in here again. Walked around for a good 15 minutes and one of the workers came up to us while we were trying on shoes and asked if our German shepherd was a service dog and she is an emotional support after I said so she proceeded to ask for papers which is illegal. After that we just left because where do you have the audacity to ask for paperwork because we’re young? Not a good excuse. And certainly not a good look on them.

Tried this location 3 different times and each time was met with the same level of service and care. Awful. All 3 times not asked if I need help or even acknowledged. Trying to find shoes in my size and having no luck trying to find someone who could maybe help, nada. Kids running in and out of the back room who didn’t look like employees last time I was there. Unless you know what you want and just need someone to ring you out which even that may have been hard, go somewhere else. The Shoe Dept in Hagerstown is MILES above this location.

We were looking for shoes and maybe a back pack but at 7:30 they pulled the gate half way down and was keeping people out. Didn't feel welcome and everyone had to duck under the gate to get out. Horrible experience.

Hello everyone of Winchester VA who is in need of shoes- please read this review before going to shoe department encore in the apple blossom mall. I bought shoes from here and it has been my biggest regret of my life. Let me tell you why:
I wish I could give this establishment zero stars, but I can’t. So I’ll only leave one. The first time I went to return my shoes, I found that I didn’t have my receipt. My fault there, however, I thought that since I was rewards member, they may be able to lookup my transaction on their records. WRONG- apparently their system is from the year 1732 and incapable of retrieving past transactions. Therefore, they said I could exchange but no refund, even though it met all the other criteria of their mile long return policy. Also they were extremely judgmental, as if they suspected I was trying to get one over on them. Anyways, i guess i understand. I’ll go home to look for the receipt.
Alas! I found it! Great news, I can now get my deserved refund and move on with my life. WRONG AGAIN!!! It’s advertised that they close at 8pm on Fridays. I was able to make it to the mall at 7:50pm, I walk up to the store and the gate was shut and the lights were off. Interesting!!! To me, that’s false advertising and a huge slap in the face to customers of their establishment. At this point, I’ve wasted the gas in my car and 2 trips to the mall (30 mins one way) and STILL no refund. I’ve read reviews of similar instances from other customers who experienced the same problems. I wonder if they are as persistent and determined as me? Because I will not rest until justice is served. Based of the stores actions today, I’ve now decided that in addition to taking my business elsewhere, the BBB will assist me with resolving this matter. And please don’t respond to this review with the customer service number - i already called them and they were equally as unhelpful and even more rude than the two women working behind the counter at the store. “Maybe you should’ve held on to your receipt” the lady said on the phone. Maybe I should’ve. And maybe I’m crazy enough to waste an hour of my life writing this review. However, with business practices as deplorable as I’ve experienced tonight they won’t be open much longer. Moral of the story - go to Famous Footwear and avoid this store at all costs.

Not even a month out and my daughters Sketchers are falling apart! These were expensive shoes and they won't refund the money or let us get another pair. This is crazy! We always come here for our shoes. I guess not anymore due to the lack or customer service and don't care attitude.

Paid $70 for a pair of nice shoes for my daughter. Barely a month later, the shoes are falling apart. I called in to ask about an exchange and I was told it's against store policy. This was our go-to for shoes, never again.

Bought $80 Sketchers Slide-Ins. Tight at 1st but assumed the strech bands (no laces) would loosen over time. 3 weeks later still tight & uncomfortable. Encore has a No RETURNS policy so stuck with shoes I can't wear. Buy Sketchers at Famous Footwear or even better, Amazon.

This store has an unusual policy. One of the shoes I licked out had one in the box. I was told I had to go up front to get the second shoe. When I did go up front the clerk went and got the second shoe and I told her I wanted to go back where I was originally seated. She painted to another chair closer to checkout and said “you can sit there”. I told them to forget it and I went back to retrieve my other shoe and leave, The lady that had told me to go up front said they do this because of the theft that the store has. Any shoes originally priced at a certain amount are kept in the back, I told her it was ridiculous that I could only sit where the second clerk pointed to. I had one shoe on and one shoe off and inserts that I have to wear and try on with all shoes back where i originally as seated, They made me feel like they thought I was going to steal something from them, I will NEVER go back in this store.

Poor customer service! Today around 5:00pm I waited at the register for over 15 minutes before anyone came up. When the older lady finally came, she ignored me while standing right in front of me. 5 more minutes went by then she asks if I’ve been helped… I told her “no I’ve been waiting to get a refund” after the fact, she gave me a $100 bill back in change for my refund then I asked her politely to exchange it for smaller change (I wasn’t comfortable carrying around the bill). So she caught an attitude with me and the was no more change and all she had was a $100 bill..there were 4 different registers, mind you it’s around the holidays . Don’t be such a grinch!
