I've lived here for a few decades and never ran into any problems with this post office. I've been to MUCH, MUCH worse in other towns too.

The woman at the post office was completely out of line. She put her hands on my baby without my consent the second we walked in, trying to position her for a photo. When I spoke up, she caused a scene in front of my kids instead of apologizing. Her attitude was aggressive and totally uncalled for. She has no business working with the public.

Every time I go here they are always so kind to me. Today I had Phil, and he is honestly the kindest and most knowledgeable team member I have met. I was sending out a loan check and had no idea how to go about this, he walked me through it, informed me of the best mailing option I was worried about losing the check in the mail. He is THE BEST!!!

We have been going to this post office for the 20 plus years we have lived in Winchester. Generally speaking, the service has been good. Every now and then, mail gets misdelivered--usually we get someone else's mail and have to redirect the mail back to the post office, or if it's a nearby neighbor, we just drop off the mail ourselves. This month I placed an online request to hold mail since we expected to be away for a period of time. However, days before our departure date it seemed that I was developing a cold, so I placed an online request to cancel the hold. I didn't get the mail the next day, so I allowed for the fact that the cancel hold request hadn't made it through the system in a timely fashion. The next day, I still didn't get my mail, so I called the office and spoke with a lady who assured me I would get my mail the following day. I didn't want to go in person because I definitely was ill with a cold and I didn't want to leave home or expose anyone at the post office to my cold. The following day, there was still no mail so I decided I had to go to the post office in person to get my mail and make sure it was no longer being held. I was still experiencing cold symptoms and continued to feel ill but I could see that another phone call might not resolve the issue. As a result I had to take the time to go in person. Out of courtesy and concern for the safety of anyone at the post office I made sure I had a mask on to prevent any spread of my illness. The postal employee retrieved my mail for me as expected after I explained what had happened. In some cultures of the world, people apologize when things aren't done right. Unfortunately, that is often not the case here in America. So not receiving an apology was par for the course. Nonetheless, it seems that I should not have had to go to all the trouble I did to get my mail, especially when feeling sick. Perhaps a referral to Mr. Musk and DOGE would help!
Fast forward now to April 2025, I placed a hold mail request since we definitely were going away. About 2 weeks later, a neighbor checked my mailbox and found it full of mail. This time the post office failed to hold the mail when prior to that they held the mail when they should not have. I called the local post office and spoke with a supervisor and after that the mail was held.
Now in late May 2025, I was expecting a package from Georgia, due to be delivered on June 2. The tracking information shows the package arrived at the Winchester post office on May 31. The same morning the tracking shows the package being sent to the Woodbridge, VA, post office, about a half hour away. They processed the package and sent it back to the regional distribution center, which apparently has received the package 3 times! I'm still waiting for that package. I can't figure out how the package arrived at my local post office and then is shipped back out!? Today my neighbor said she received her mail around 1 PM but we never got our expected mail. I'm probably being paranoid but I wonder if someone at the local post office read this review and now they're messing with my mail delivery! Hopefully, I'm wrong about them messing with my mail delivery but I have to admit I've lost confidence in my local post office.

Worst post office in the nation! This is the only post office that I have ever been associated with that refuses to deliver packages to my house. UPS, Fed-ex, and anyone else does, but not this awful tax dollar supported post office!!!

We had an appointment for passport services at this post office, but a staff member called and told us that no one would be available on the scheduled day. My wife and I had already taken leave from work, so I asked if we could be accommodated on the same day or another day. She refused and said we had to reschedule online. On top of that, she was not polite at all. Very disappointing experience—poor customer service and no consideration for people's time!

We have a new (I guess) mail delivery person at Treetops Lane in Winchester. Whomever it is has yet to get our mail in the right boxes. Also packages are locked in the lockboxes but my key was not left in my mailbox so I could get my package. One day the outgoing mail was left sitting in a basket on top of the lockboxes. The outgoing blue mailbox was locked but the door was left open. DUH! So now I sit here on a Saturday waiting to talk to an agent that is in Washington, DC and knows nothing about my area, to file a complaint. Really? Winchester, VA USPS send a person that knows the job with these trainees.

I had quite the morning on Saturday. I had to get fingerprinting done for nursing school. Anyways, one of the options was this specific office. When I got there, I was told the “person” who usually does it, isn’t in on Saturdays, even though the website says they are supposed to be able to do it for you between 10am-1pm. Also, I had to drive already 30 mins to Winchester for this. I politely said that is okay and searched for another one. I had to go all the way to the front royal office because this is a time sensitive matter and I work during the week hours. The lady who helped me at the Front Royal office couldn’t believe that the Winchester office couldn’t help me. She said that they were all trained to be able to do this. Also, the fee for this is quite a lot, so I already had to drive all over the place for this plus spend another 50$ for this service. Long story short, I was able to get it done. I felt like the Winchester office just didn’t feel like doing it, which isn’t okay when people have time sensitive deadlines for things. I get it is Saturday and not feeling your job, but you still need to help people and do the best that you can.

The post master (supervisor) is awesome. Anytime I have an issue or question she is right on it. She's got a great attitude and wonderful customer service skills.
