Very strange experience with some teen employees? The only reason I go into hot topic is for loungefly mystery pins. I usually buy a lot (many sets have 6-12 possible options to collect etc) and I’m also into pin trading. They immediately start accusing me of being a reseller and saying they can’t refuse to sell to me but they can cancel out any coupons, promos, credit etc. because they hate resellers in their store. The employee (manager maybe?) also admitted to rigging pin box placement to tell people she liked which pins were which based on how they were stacked in the case when stocking. Said punishing resellers (anyone buying more than 5 pins at once) was store policy. I said it wasn’t I’ve been doing this at my local location all the time? When I suggested my husband could ring some out in a second transaction she then admitted it actually wasn’t an automatic policy but something she had to manually enter to punish resellers and it was up to her own discretion so she’d “give me a pass” this one time if I wasn’t reselling. Super uncomfortable.

The gentleman who helped me was very courteous, fast, explanatory, just a perfect interaction which is greatly appreciated. He was so patient and kind while I was frustrated and confused. He couldn’t have been a more lovely person. Great job!

Just visited the Potomac Mills store with my two teens. The folks working today were SUPER nice! Truly amazing customer service. The store had tons of stuff my kids were pumped about, and also TONS of nostalgic elder emo merch. Really a lovely experience and a great store!

Very nice location and great staff, although many items were short stocked and was somewhat disappointed with how little variety there were in regards to certain articles of clothing.

One of the cashier's, Jess, doesn't know her own companies policies. I showed her an item that was in store AND on the HT website and I said 'its 20% off online, can you match that". Nope. She said "the prices are different in different places"...then why does the HT website say they price match in-store? She was dismissive and I hope HT talks to her and reminders her of her own store policy.
