I'm shocked to be seeing so many 5 star reviews (bots?). I moved back to VA and went back here because it used to be okay but the lady who saw me was completely clueless on how to do taxes. She said I owed money and the state of VA ended up sending it back to me! Talk about a screw up. Just doing TurboTax from now on and I advise everyone else to do the same.

H&R Block lost my 2023 1040 package. I have been told it was there but the every time I go by the office the man that is working cannot find it, cannot find the keys to file cabinet. I fear there has been a privacy breach. No less than four trips to H&R Block Advisors and still no package.

Refund guarantee? Not so much. I had a complicated tax situation for this year so I sought professional help to file my taxes. I explained my situation up front and was told it was best to file jointly. The person filing my taxes knew ahead of time that my late husband owed prior taxes from well before I had met him when he was still married to his ex. Still, I was told this was best. Well, I didn't get any return at all as the IRS, after almost two months, applied the entire refund to my late husbands back taxes anyway. So now not only do I get zero refund, without knowing if I would have gotten anything if filing separate, but I'm als out the money I paid to H&R Block for their "expert" advice. I sent a message to the person that did my taxes and received a voicemail from a different person basically telling me that there's nothing they can do and made it sound like it was my decision to file jointly, basically putting the mistake on me.

I went here in March 2024 for taxes and had an appointment. The specialist I saw was rude, gave me dirty confused looks when I shared I had some self employment income, and spent no more than 2 minutes before saying he would do it later (even though I had an appointment) and that it would take a week. I went to Jackson Hewitt and they did it right away, politely and easily.

Mrs. Loney was an excellent representative for H&R Block. Very helpful, knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. She has done my taxes for a number of years now and I will definately go back next year.

After 10 years of coming here and paying for service I was extremely disappointed in Maria Qura service and behavior. She was accusatory in asking who my son was to me? Asking why a 16 year is a dependent and told me that she would call me back before she could proceed. She never called me back. Actually, went to another Block down the street at shoppers' food way and they processed my taxes without any issues. Not sure what her issue was but as 100% disabled veteran. I urge people not to give her any business. A true bad representation of their brand.

I was extremely dissatisfied with my experience at Block Advisors. Upon entering the organization, I anticipated a highly professional encounter. However, when I approached a tax advisor, she identified herself as the Woodbridge area's general manager. During our conversation, I overheard a phone call where an employee from another branch complained about a colleague's rudeness and aggression towards a customer. The disgruntled employee, also on the call, expressed disregard for greeting a new client, particularly a black client, emphasizing their focus on a complex tax return instead. As a veteran, I found this conversation deeply offensive and disheartening, prompting me to disconnect and handle my taxes independently. Despite this disturbing incident, the manager's lack of concern and a tepid apology regarding the employee's behavior solidified my decision never to return to Block Advisors for tax assistance.

0 stars. This review is for the Dillingham Square location (12357 Dillingham Sq, Woodbridge, VA 22192). H&R Block was unable to complete my 2022 tax return due to a known software issue. I did not find out about this software issue until I was in the final review phase of my return process, and I was the one who caught the error on my return (not my tax advisor!!). In order to review my return, I had to pay the tax preparation fees ($550) first. Then I found out about the software issue. The team leader at the location (Michael Torres) escalated the software issue to corporate, and they said that the issue could not be resolved by the federal & state tax filing deadline, so my options were to file for an extension and wait on the software fix, or go somewhere else to file my taxes. On 4/5/23, Michael Torres recommended via text message that I file elsewhere (to hit the filing deadline) and said he started the process for a refund. As I sit here today on 5/10/23, I have not received the refund, the branch will not answer their phone at all times of day, Michael will not reply to texts or calls, and I have hit every dead end with the national call centers at H&R Block (after calling more than 5 times over the past 2 weeks). This has been an awful experience and I would not recommend utilizing H&R Block to any consumer. Horrible customer service and did not deliver the service that I paid for.

I left my initial meeting with my advisor expecting to pay $180 for a standard tax return and ended up paying $380! My receipt is not itemized, I can't tell what I paid for. When my return was complete, I went on-line to sign and opt out of the Peace of Mind program, this canceled my return completely. To fix this the receptionist referred me to the help desk, after spending an hour on the phone with the help desk trying to fix this issue, I ended calling the store back and the receptionist decided to resend my link which fixed the problem. I contacted my advisor to tell him what was going on, he replied back on Monday, said he would resend my documents on Saturday for signing. That Friday I got an email from him telling me to make an appointment and he needed more documents? Saturday, I received my return and went to sign, again I was obligated to accept the Peace of Mind that I did not want, but if I opt out it would have canalled my return and I would have been back to square one!

I’m going to leave this review in a couple places because there are multiple locations at fault.
I used the Block advisors on Richmond Hwy. in previous years with no issues. This year our tax pro had retired and so when I dropped my documents off I was told that someone else would take us on. This was in late February.
Then nothing. Silence.
I called the Richmond Hwy office and my documents had been passed to someone in a Woodbridge location. Fine. No big deal.
I use the my block account and it says that things are in progress, cool. Then I get a message that my case has been shifted to someone else. Ok, cool.
And then more silence. So I call again because it’s not early April. The gentleman that was in possession of our documents and had been told that he was going to be taking us on, had no idea. Not a clue.
And of course he’s busy because the deadline is looming. But that’s not my fault. I got my stuff in February.
Really disappointed. Really frustrated.
I called corporate and I’m still waiting to hear back from them.

I was very impressed with the knowledge and service I received from my tax advisor. She was able to complete my returns and file them in a short amount of time. It saved me the headache of trying to figure out everything myself. I will definitely return for next year's tax time.
