I have used JBD for many different repairs and projects. I was greeted by one SA to whom I stated I was looking to purchase a custom-made necklace. She immediately passed me to another SA. Why? I don't know and it doesn't matter. So, I'm working with the new SA. I stated I have used JDB many times for many different reasons. I state what I'm trying to do, have a custom initial diamond necklace made for my wife's. I showed her an example that I had found on the internet. She showed me a necklace that they had in the store which wasn't even close to what I was looking for, but we ended up agreeing on the style of chain which they had on display. She showed me a book that had examples of font lettering products. I showed her a few I had located on the internet right there in the store. She agreed to contact the vendor and send me a mark-up of the product the following week. I asked if she could email me the mark-up as I will be out of town. She stated it was against store policy to email mark-ups out. (Remember I showed her an example of what I was looking for.) I stated that I would be gone a week. She stated she would be out of the office at that time. In the end, she agreed to email me the mark-up. She completed the Order Form with my contact information. I go out of town and I call JBD asking about the mark-up, as I have not seen any emails. I described the SA I had worked with, and the item I was trying to get made. An SA stated there was nothing in their system but she did recognize the SA I described. She stated my SA was out of the office, but she would contact her and see if the information would be sent over. I again was looking forward to being contacted. NOTHING. I contacted JBD again, seeking information well, they finally contacted the SA and she emailed me the two mark-ups. I agree to one of the mark-ups and state to send me the invoice so that I can pay for this item (in full) to get it started. I confirmed a few things about the custom piece initials will be solid gold with diamonds, and the length of the necklace. She confirms the letters and diamonds but states the length would be different. I stated, it's custom why can't the length be changed? The SA states she can and will send the invoice by text and email. My wife receives the text from the SA. Now, I'm past frustrated moving into pissed-off. I contacted the SA via email stating she sent it to the wrong person. (Proof we have used them in the past. So much so they have my wife's and my info in their system.) I understand mistakes happen, but I was not happy with the customer service I received on this visit. 1. Being passed from one SA to another. It felt like she judged me and I wasn't worth her time. She wasn't busy and did nothing but watch the SA and myself go through the Order Form. 2. My SA was trying to get me into a product they had in the store, but it wasn't even close to what I wanted. 3. Nothing my SA said she would do within the time frame she said she would do it was done. The mark-ups weren't sent out. I wasn't contact about they delay in sending the mark-ups. She didn't even pass off her Purchase Order (PO) to another SA's to answer questions or check on PO's. 4. The killing of the deal was sending the PO to my wife. She had my contact into in the JBD system and on the PO. Now, the only way she would have gotten my wife's information was by looking into their JBD system, because her information wasn't on the PO. 5. To add gas to the fire. When I confirmed the details (length of the necklace) that I wanted on a custom item, she stated it couldn't be done. Really? UPDATE: So, I have found a different jewelry shop in the area. They were fantastic from when I entered the store. I told them the particulars; the SA showed me a few items they had done before on a computer. She was able to use their CAD design and rotate it around in a 3-D format. She was able to show me what the design could look like using different fonts, different gold

My how things have changed there in the last few months! Went from dealing with a few difficulties that I thought had been worked out to nothing but failures. Family owned business where the family is more important than the customer. Smile at you then stab you in the back....and that's how they treat a long-standing customer! Squeezed out hardworking and caring staff. Greed, incompetence, and retaliation for speaking truth about family members is more important than ethics and honesty. Hiring family members, friends, and those with little experience into key positions is common here. I expect karma will be knocking at their door sometime soon.

The staff is absolutely wonderful! I brought in some tangled necklaces which Andrew untangled for me. They replaced the battery in my watch immediately. And while I was there, I found a couple of beautiful earrings to purchase. Such a splendid visit! Thank you!

I worked with JBD to revamp both my parents wedding rings for their 40th anniversary. The rings came out absolutely perfect and they were both blown away. Amanda and Andrew were just fantastic and a delight to work with. Everyone in the store really knows their stuff. They gave me good trade in value for my scrap gold. They completed my very complex projects on time and within budget. I enjoyed the entire experience and can’t wait to work with them again.

I have gone in to Jewelry By Design few times now to either get my rings fixed or resized. Everytime I go in the staff is so friendly and accommodating. I have never felt pressured to buy anything or to purchase another service. Although I have made purchases in the store! The quality is over the top and I have no doubt the pieces will be my family's heirloom pieces. The store is clean and maintained, I have never noticed dust build up.

Had a pearl replaced, it fell out and they replaced it for me no charge, a little later it fell out again and I had to pay to replace it this time. Their warranty says they will guarantee repairs for one year. I brought the ring back before the year was up. Two weeks after paying to have the pearl replace again it fell out again. They refused to fix it again and wanted me to pay to fix it again. Do not believe in their warranty. They also tried to tell me my gold was old and that was why the pearl kept falling out. Will not go there again.

We have bought jewelry here on 3 or 4 different occasions and have always been very pleased by the Sales team here specially on our most recent visit working with Andrew he is extremely knowledgeable and pleasant to work with. We will always shop here in the future .

UPDATE: 8/8/23. Spoke with store owner and she explained the lengthy process they go through to ensure their estate jewelry is perfect. While 2 months is quite long, apparently 4-6 weeks is common at this store. That’s good news for us estate jewelry lovers! I’m looking forward to seeing more estate jewelry in the cases soon.GREAT: Lovely items and incredible team of employees.IFFY: The process to consign at this location is slow. It’s been 2 months from initial meeting and my items are still not out for sale. Stores I’ve previously done business with had a maximum of a 2 week turnaround.So, visit for beautiful items, excellent repair work and great customer service on the floor.

The new Jewelry By Designs staff has been awesome. Having been a long time customer of the original store I have been so impressed with the new staff. We’ve had old jewelry repaired, appraisals and purchased new pieces. In every case, Jewelry By Designs has not failed to provide outstanding service.

Simply the BEST jewelry store in the NoVA area. Staff is friendly and extremely knowledgeable on basic to advanced jewelry pieces. Online and in store inventory has the most selection of unique pieces I have ever seen. I worked with Katy and she is top notch! Highly recommended!

I took several pieces of jewelry from "past lives" and asked for something new to be created. Katy was awesome to work with and seemed almost as excited as I was to see what we could do. The end result was beyond my expectations and I cried when I saw it. It's perfect! And she was very responsive to any questions I had along the way. Also took a strand of pearls to be be restrung with the same experience. Very communicative and available. Consider them my personal jewelers now.
