2 stars for friendly and knowledgeable staff. When we bring a pet there for a simple thing, we have to wait outside and call when we arrive, even though Covid is long over. We spend 20 minutes on the phone with them at the time of our appointment answering questions that should still be in their database. Upcharging is a thing at this animal hospital. I found a new place.

My first visit with Staple Mills Animal hospital was exceptional. The staff was thorough and professional. I gave four stars because I couldn’t believe the cost for their services. Since I assume the cost of Veterinary care is expensive across the board, I am pleased with their service and will continue to keep them as the vets for my dogs.

Absolutely the best! Our two pups get the very best care at Staples Mill! Everything from scheduling an appointment to the fabulous Vet technicians and Veterinarians, everyone here is wonderful! This time our appointment was with Dr. Askin. She is so caring, thorough, gentle, friendly, and knowledgeable.

I took my dog Misha to Staples Mills Animal hospital on April 22, 2020 for her having GI issues. Due to COVID-19 we were unable to sit in on the appointment, Dr. Hurley called me while waiting in my vehicle. She stated that Misha has a cracked tooth that needs to be removed as soon as possible and that they also wanted to do blood work on her base off her age (8 years old). I agreed to do the blood work and they sent Misha home with some meds for her GI issues. The initial appointment was for her stomach issues (bloody stool), but now because about her tooth. I did inquire about the cost for her dental and extraction and they said they would send me an estimate in a few days. April 24th 2020 I received an estimate for Misha with the high end of $1,123.17. Dr Hurley went over the estimate with me and told me that if scheduled within 30 days Staple Mills would give me 10% off the total price. I decided to take Misha for a 2nd opinion at Davis Ford Animal Hospital. Dr. Branson said she did see a cracked tooth, but x-rays would be better. I thought it over for a couple weeks and decided to move forward with the dental procedure, I called to schedule the appointment and Dr. Hurley was booked till June which would put me out of 30 days. They would need to redo the blood work for Misha if I didn't go with another dr. They said they could do the in house blood work which would have been $100 vs $269 and I would lose out on the 10% deal. They said all their doctors work together. I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Shane which from my understanding is the owner of Staple Mills. May 19th 2020 I arrive to drop Misha off at 0730 for her dental and extraction. They had me sign some paperwork. One of which was another estimated for $1454.67. I spoke to the tech (Casie) and questioned why the price jump especially this is not the original estimate that I agreed on prior to making this appointment. She said different doctor so Dr. Shane added some new items. such as Lyme vaccination and flea and tick meds (Why was Misha getting vaccination on the day of her dental extraction). Again this was only brought to my attention at 0730 the day of the surgery. No one called me between the time of appointment scheduling and now and talked to me about the changes. It was as if they were trying to get over on me. Casie came back and adjusted the estimate to $1270.17; she kept telling me that this is before your 10% and that the price will be lower. My issue was that the price jumped $300 from initial till now with zero communication till day of surgery. I figured Misha needed the surgery but my gut feeling was they already did me dirty. After driving home I called back and told them I will be returning to pick up Misha, and that I did not want to proceed with the surgery. I just had to go with my gut and they seemed okay at first as a hospital with great integrity, but after today I don't believe this is the case.
Another note is that when an online pharmacy requested approval they would not cooperate. They said we had to come pick up a written rx, which would my our dog overdue for one vs just acknowledging and approving the prescription. Especially with the CDC and warnings do not go out or interact unless absolutely necessary this seemed ridiculous. Davis Ford happily approved the prescription and went were mailed our dog's meds.

Consistently great service. I have been coming to Staples Mill for years and all the receptionists, technicians, and doctors have been extremely kind and thorough. I have never had a negative experience here. I have been to other practices in the area and nothing compares to Staples Mill. I highly recommend this practice.

Dr Shane and her entire staff at Staples Mill Animal Hospital are among the best in the area. I will always be grateful for the compassion and care they gave my cat Billy and I will never hesitate to take any of my pets to them in the future.

I've taken my mini schnauzer there numerous times and they have always been able to quickly address any issues. The facilities are comfortable and clean. The staff is always friendly.

Everyone is great and friendly, I would definitely come back to Staples Mill Animal Hospital for future visits for my dog. They were so kind and friendly to my dog and I. They made us feel welcomed. My dog isn’t so great at vets but they were great with him and were able to worked with him!

I was a new patient and able to get a same day appt for my dog when my vet couldn’t get me in for 4 days (with an unwell dog).
I was seen at my appointment time, the vet team were all so friendly. Dr Shane was incredible and was so thorough. She talked with me about my dogs history, medications as well as addressing the issue we were there for. I have switched vet clinics because of the difference in care, concern and treatment received at Staples Mill Animal Hospital.
