I am heartbroken and furious over the experience my daughter had at this salon. She went in for a simple layered haircut, specifically stating that she did not want any length taken off. The stylist, Angie, even asked her if she wanted bangs, and my daughter clearly said no. Despite that, Angie’s very first cut was to give her blunt, straight-across bangs no longer than an inch. Then, without permission, she proceeded to cut off over 5 inches of my daughter’s hair, gave her uneven sides, and completely destroyed the style. Her shoulder-length hair is now chopped into a shape that will take years to grow back.
Angie even admitted she didn’t know how to do layered haircuts and chose to proceed anyway without asking for help. Who allows a stylist to cut someone’s hair when they openly admit they’re not qualified to do so?
When I confronted Angie about this shocking mishandling, she responded with a smug, condescending “sorry.” No genuine remorse, no offer to fix the situation, nothing. Instead, I was called rude for raising my voice – while my daughter was outside crying hysterically over what had just been done to her hair.
Both Angie and the manager completely failed in their responsibilities – not just in skill, but in basic human decency. This was not a miscommunication or a minor error – it was a complete disregard for consent, professionalism, and client care. No salon should ever cut a drastic amount of hair without clear, explicit agreement – especially not on anyone.
I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone. Avoid this place at all costs. We will be spending the next two years trying to undo the damage done in 20 careless minutes. The first photo is my daughter’s hair BEFORE she cut it all off. The next two photos are AFTER.

I love this salon! The staff are very nice and always keep the place clean! I’ve been seeing Mersades for highlights and cuts for a little over two years now and she always does a phenomenal job. 10/10 recommend! 🥰

I came in with a botched haircut from another salon and Angie did an amazing job fixing it! She was super friendly and very meticulous to make sure that I left this appointment feeling much better. I highly recommend!

I loved Leslie and when she left, I got an appt with Maddy. She was cool and sweet and my hair came out better than it had in years! But when I was away at my dad’s funeral, my job msgd that I had to be there for a meeting right at the time of my appt with Maddy. I had to cancel with short notice and the woman who answered the phone was a total snob! She acted like I was lying and wouldn’t let me speak with Maddy. All I wanted to do was bring Maddy some cash to make up for my short notice. Maddy - I have a $50 for you if you can get past the warden! You are GREAT, but I’m not dealing with the snobbery of style by design! PS - I hope your dog’s food came out good!

I am new to the area and had a hard time finding a great place. I looked around and tried several places (to the detriment to my hair). I finally came to Style by Design - and I could not be happier! When I look in the mirror and LOVE what I see every single time... you know the place is a gem. Anne cuts my hair, she's the best curly hair expert I've ever come across, and Julia does my highlights. My color is always stunning. Do yourself a favor and just book your appointment. You'll LOVE this place!
