I've had my boat hauled out for painting and mechanical work a couple of times. My experience has been excellent. Friendly, efficient, top-class staff and mechanic. One the best kept secrets on the York River. Highly recommend.

I had my 30' catamaran hauled out for survey and the staff performed it perfectly. They discussed the procedure beforehand and took precautions to protect the hull. Pressure wash and scrape was included. I am pretty sure I have an extra knot out of her now. The staff was friendly and courteous. I would recommend them to all.

Didn't do any work at this marina, because they refused to haul my boat out, citing the boat's age as their reason. Yes, my boat is 50 years old. But it is also in better condition than many boats half its age. The point is, if you have an older boat, don't even bother calling this place, as they will ask for pictures and insurance documents and then deny you anyway. And if you have a newer boat, consider going elsewhere, as marinas that pick and choose whom they haul-out based purely on boat age, without any regard for condition of boat, lack both professionalism and basic respect for their customers.UPDATED 07 July 2022, 1:45 pm : Despite the marina's claims that I will encounter this with "most of the marinas on the East Coast," I have subsequently found four marinas willing to accommodate me, sans deposit, in roughly the same area of the Chesapeake: York River Yacht Haven, Crown Pointe, Mobjack Bay Marina, and Severn Yachting Center. Yankee Point on the Rappahannock also has been willing to provide service. Farther up the Chesapeake, Young's Boat Yard in Baltimore has made themselves available as well. That's a total six marinas, out of roughly nine that I called, suggesting to me that this "most of the marinas on the East Coast" claim is overblown. If you have an older boat, I recommend giving any of those yards a call. Naturally, Wormley Creek is within their rights to refuse service to whomever they wish, but arbitrary refusal of service based on past bad encounters with different owners of old boats is a reprehensible business practice deserving condemnation. I did not spend a decade of my life in this country's armed services to be treated as a second-class citizen because my boat's hull was laid too long ago for someone's liking.

It's shallow and if you draw more than 4 feet you need to go at high tide. But otherwise it's a good fuel stop and location is not bad. As of this review a sandbar was forming just outside the channel so be careful

One of the few places to get diesel. A little shallow, just be careful.

BE WARNED....Service manager is absolutely incompetent, horrible customer service, after telling Jamie(service manager) specifically and exactly what needed to be done for my haul out and mast step to include exact dimensions they flipped last minute... or second actually. Jamie even had the audacity to claim that I never told him the mast dimensions. Let me be crystal clear, the first time we talked about mast stepping, the mast height was the first question he asked. Even after scheduling over a month in advance and talking everything through, Two days before haul out they spring a ridiculous list of demands with little to no time to complete. Mind you, their demands could have been met with adequate time to complete, not two days. Then, when things were going south, Jamie says they can require a recent survey for any sailboat over 20yrs old,(this describes 80% of sailboats on the Chesapeake Bay) surprise, with minutes to spare we now have another stipulation. This is completely unacceptable and downright despicable. I absolutely do not recommend or trust this business.
On a side note, I scheduled with Wormley Creek because Dandy Haven was not available until late June for a mast step. I have dealt with Andy from Dandy Haven for 30 years and always treated like family, not once have I been treated like this or had to deal with bad faith business practices. Avoid this garbage business and go to Dandy Haven.
Owner response reply:
Save your bad faith speech for someone else, since your memory is short I will help you so the folks reading this review will understand completely.
One, your claim about the survey requirement is 100% false, Jamie clearly stated, we can require a survey for any sailboat over 20 years old, if you all of a sudden don’t require it now that we are in a public forum, why would he even say that???? Was he just making conversation????
Two, I don’t care that you wanted photos of the boat, I’m upset that your business absolutely failed to disclose any of these pop up requirements until last minute. That’s your fault, not mine.
Three, If Jamie tells you I never told him the mast height, he is lying. I gave it to two different employees of yours who asked. Jamie being one of them. Be realistic here, you mean to tell me that Jamie, a marine service manager, who if even is remotely good at his job would schedule a haul out and mast step (discussed and scheduled over a month ago) with out asking the mast height.....by his logic and story I suppose he was just going to wait and see what showed up....gimmie a break. Read carefully and slowly, my mast height was the first thing we discussed after I said the words, I need a mast step.
Any reasonable person would be beyond angry at what your business did to me today.
Excellent job on publicly explaining and defending your horrible behavior.
Your negative review today was well earned.

Was traveling up the York River towards the municipal docks when I realized that the N winds would be so strong they would be untenable. We made a quick decision to stop at Wormley Creek Marina and despite the fact that the winds were blowing close to 25 kn with gusts to 30 as soon as we turned behind the breakwater, all was calm Pam had sent me by email a picture of exactly which slip by marking it with a stat which reduced our anxiety incredibly. The bathrooms and the laundry room were top notch and the hospitality to match I cannot recommend this wonderful quiet hard-working marina with the most gracious hosts enough!

We have been at Wormley Creek for a week or so and have had tremendous support from the crew. Great place to stay. A protected marina you should visit. Fuel, pump out and people who have plenty of boating and marina experience. We will definitely will be back
