Tried to charge me $100 for the smallest bit of makeup left on 3 towels - this was the absolute worst check out, yes check OUT experience of all time. Got a call from the front desk shortly after I checked out and the front desk guy was telling me that I stained all the towels in the room and they would need to charge me $100 for them, WHAT?! I immediately pushed back and told them how ridiculous that is because never in my life have I been charged for leaving the smallest bit of makeup on a towel at a hotel, air bnb, motel, etc - once I pushed back he totally switched his tune and said that they would try to get the stains out but if they couldn’t then they would have to charge me. I also want to emphasize the timeline here that they said they would have to charge me for the stains, then switched it to if they couldn’t get the stains out then they would have to charge me I told them that I know exactly what the towels looked like and that throwing them in a regular load with some bleach would do the trick because that’s why hotels have white towels and white sheets right? To bleach the hell out of them if they’re left stained - I went back to the Inn and made them show me the condition of the towels and I will post a photo with the review so you can see how absolutely ridiculous this whole thing was. Fast forward 30 minutes and I get a call that they were able to get the stains out because DUH I knew they would be able to but even if they hadn’t, trying to charge someone $100 for old, dingey towels that would be MAYBE $20 to replace was ridiculous. Anyway, they called and let me know they were able to get the stains out and would be REFUNDING me for the $100 charge which means they charged me BEFORE they even attempted to get the stains out. Absolute scam and seems like they’re trying to squeeze money from customers to upgrade their poor facility.
Along with all of this when I initially got to my room (solo female traveler got in late at night) I arrive to my room and the window is totally open and unsecure which made me feel uneasy but I needed to get to bed as I had a race the next morning - but had it not been for the check out fiasco I would have never even written a review or been worried about that. This place is a joke and poorly ran.

Checked in and front desk was polite. The room was fair for a safe place to sleep but not clean. There were crumbs on the left side of the bed and hairs in the tub! The biggest issue was the clogged tub in our room, 202. Disgusting, as the water filled in the tub during our shower there was filth floating from the drain and our feet were submerged in bacteria I didn’t feel clean. The bathroom fan was absolutely atrociously loud and scary sounding and the shower was squealing until dropping the spout diverter. (The pin on the shower faucet) In the morning we noticed the ice machine was out of order so no ice during our stay. The motel wasn’t super occupied so it was fairly quiet. The rooms are tall so our noise echoed. The AC unit filter wasn’t terrible but the AC itself smelt sour and outdated.
As a former housekeeper, please clean the drains and the AC unit filters and please vacuum!! And maintenance, or owners, please fix the ice machine!! I thought the building itself was classy, but the rooms don’t seem to be getting that treatment. It would also be cool to see more decor as the blank space actually caused me a little anxiety.

Very nice and clean. Front office staff was super nice and helpful. Quiet location and easy parking. We would stay there again!

We go to the island for family vacation every year, so we usually stay near the ferry terminal the night before. The staff at Anaco Bay Inn was wonderful, especially Shy, she was terrific to us. My family stayed in what was like a cute little duplex. It was quiet, comfortable and we all slept well. We enjoy the Continental breakfast and plan to make Anaco Bay Inn part of our annual stops.

Older place, very well maintained and not at all run-down. Basic comfortable room at a reasonable rate. We would book there again.

Huge room with a fireplace. Very friendly staff. Super clean, though a little dated. Comfy bed and pillows. The towels were just so so. Nice water pressure in the shower. Kitchen efficiency was great.

Decent place to stay. People will go on about how outdated it looks but I don't mind that much. Bed was springy and firm nothing too special. There were some sugar ants around the AC unit nothing too crazy. Overall a decent place to stay.

Made a last minute reservation and unfortunately had to cancel due to a ferry issue. Tony was very kind and understanding. He didn’t charge us for the room. Nice hosts.

The young man at the desk was very kind, but this is a very old hotel. It is in need of updating. The furniture is old and shows signs of wear. The microwave looks like its from the 70s. The queen size bed was actually a full size and it was old and poor quality. It is a bare bones accommodation. Although it appeared cleaned, I didn't want to step on the carpet with bare feet. The sheet had stains and were very wrinkled. We left immediately.

Expectations were low and they were met. This is a 2 star hotel and lives up to that rating. From other reviews I decided to bring my own inexpensive bamboo sheets which made the bed softer and sleeping good. No frills, checked all the survival boxes, happy with the price, convenient to every place we needed to go in Anacortes. We are glad we stayed here.

Disgusting dirty, 3 rooms and they were all filthy and very outdated and musty smell. No AC, appliances filthy, we asked for a refund after asking if someone there could clean a room and they said none were available. They agreed to refund our money and then refused when we called them back to check on it. Over $300 lost for a 2 night stay. Check most current reviews, don't go by total because they are very dated reviews.

Absolutely Disgusting – Avoid at All Costs!
This was hands-down the worst hotel experience we’ve ever had. 1 star is being generous. The towels and bed sheets were filthy—stained and clearly unwashed. Bathroom had rusty shower rod, dusty fan intake, stained sink. The room phone was broken, lampshade was also stained.
We didn't notice these things until later on because we had just checked in and then met up with family. We didn't start noticing these things till we were getting ready for bed.
It was absolutely revolting and we felt so uncomfortable the whole night we decided to check out earl the next morning.
To make matters worse, at check-in the front desk staff made an inappropriate and offensive comment to my wife, implying she’d be making stains in the bed with her “husband.” (We are a lesbian couple, and the assumption was both ignorant and degrading.) Completely unacceptable and unprofessional especially when our mom was right there.
We immediately contacted management who claimed they would authorize a refund through Expedia. That was a lie—they turned around and declined the refund and have since avoided all responsibility.
We’ve filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, only to find out this hotel isn’t even accredited—not with the BBB or any hotel regulation authority.
We’re now contacting the health department because the level of cleanliness and conduct is beyond neglectful—it’s a health and safety risk.
DO NOT STAY HERE. You've been warned.

Check recent reviews for consistent bad experiences. Older reviews are skewing ratings. Very dirty room with food, debris, dead bugs all over. There's no possibility someone cleaned the unit properly prior to our check in. Took the $300+ hit to my account and booked at a different property after checking in. Was told I would get a refund but hotel did not follow through. They offered me other rooms but they were just as bad. Be warned, this is not where you want to stay.
