This is my go-to spot—local and close to home. I just wish they would expand their tequila options. I’ve been asking for Don Julio for quite some time now. It’s all about personal preference, not profit. Hopefully, they get with the times soon!

Update: We came for their prime rib dinner for two $39.99. Only on Fri and Sat. The prime rib was excellent as well as the clam chowder. We will definitely be back for the prime rib and their breakfast.
The service and food was excellent. I had the country fried steak and eggs 17.95. The steak was fried just right, crispy on the outside but tender on the inside. The hash browns and the biscuit were good. My wife had the half order which had half the steak and only one egg for 11.95, which was perfect for her.

Rainbow Café in Auburn is such a gem! We went on a Monday morning for breakfast, and from the moment we walked in, the place had a lively and welcoming vibe. It was very clean and quite busy, which is always a good sign that the food is worth it.
I ordered the veggie scramble, and it did not disappoint. It came out quickly, piping hot, and beautifully presented. The portion was generous, and the price was very reasonable for the quality and amount of food. My nephew ordered the bear pancakes, and they were a total hit, not only were they adorable, but he loved them so much he kept talking about them the rest of the day. Watching him enjoy his meal made the whole experience even better.
The only downside was the service. Our server felt a bit dry and not very engaged. My 2.5-year-old nephew doesn’t eat meat, so I asked if he could have fries or something else instead. She said it would cost extra, which I completely understood, but in the end, the fries never came. It left the interaction feeling a little rushed and dismissive. Hopefully, it was just an off day.
That aside, Rainbow Café really delivers everything you want from a classic breakfast spot: hearty, well-prepared food, generous portions, kid-friendly options, and a clean, bustling atmosphere. I’d absolutely come back again and recommend it, especially for families with kids, because those bear pancakes are unforgettable!

I think it's getting better. Perhaps it's a new cook? The girl seems to do really well.
**The side salads are huge and you also get a little cheese.
**The fish is breaded in house! I fully expected it to be frozen. It was perfectly done! The tartar sauce is perfect not too strong.
**My husband said the coleslaw was really good and we also love the potato salad.
The only thing I think needs some work would be more helpful for the server especially because it was so incredibly busy today and she was totally by hersey. HIRE SOME HELP.
Added plus Main Street is finally done so it's easy to get access from the front of the building. We will come back for breakfast again soon.

We waited one and half hour for our food. When the food was there is was cold and burnt. Never going back there again. The service and food sucks.we wouldn't recommend this to anybody. Waste of money.

Me and my family love this place! Servers are always friendly and the food is great- good portions and very affordable! The kids (age 8 and 10) almost always recommend this spot when we are figuring out where to go to eat. Plus they are locally owned :) Highly recommend!

Visited the restaurant for the first time on memorial day weekend. We had breakfast. The food was good and I can't say enough about the staff. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, she made it a great experience. The atmosphere is pretty much basic diner. Nothing special but looked clean which is the most important thing ! I will definitely be going back.

Always a solid choice for some old school food. Friendly staff. Longtime favorite, my family has been visiting Rainbow since the 70s. As of June 2025 Main Street is closed for a few months, however you can enter the restaurant from the sidewalk out front or through a hallway via the bar entrance. Plenty of parking in the city lot between Main Street and Safeway.

Foods not good enough to deal with the loud racist atmosphere in this restaurant. My family of 3 walked in, we’re Pacific Islander but look of Latin origin. The Hispanic server helped us which was perfectly okay till I noticed anyone who wasn’t white was helped by her and any white family was helped by the white server. Then I realized the table in front of us and behind us were white families and were only helped by the white server while we were in the middle being helped by the Hispanic server, which is weird that they separate sections like that. It didn’t help either that we were just barely cutting into our food and was already handed the check. Very unwelcoming. The system in this restaurant needs a grip of reality.

Good diner food. Wanted breakfast and saw this mom and pop place was open near by so stopped in. No wait, but they were pretty busy. Ordered fairly quickly. My partner got a bloody Mary and he said it was delicious. Perfect spice and flavor. We ordered a Denver omelet, and a short stack, as well as corn beef hash. Everything was good. The omelet was packed, and fluffy. The pancakes were delicious buttermilk. Overall, we were happy with the food, service was also good. I want to go back and try their desserts, they sounded so good. This place seems to have been around a long time and has some loyal customers, I can see why. If you're in the area definitely stop in. Decent prices, good food and service.
