Today was my first experience at Universal Nails & I’m so happy with their services. Pedicure & eyebrow prices were definitely cheaper than others in the Auburn area. The vibe, friendly staff & quality customer service is definitely the reason this will be my new self-care spot from now on! Thank you all for a great, first time experience!

I’ve been coming here since 2021, and I really used to enjoy being one of Kim’s clients. She was always so polite, especially when it came to the whole language thing never speaking another language in front of me out of respect. It was professional, and I appreciated that. On top of that, her work was always amazing she went above and beyond and consistently exceeded my expectations. And I always made sure to tip her generously over 25%, which, for someone on a teacher’s salary, isn’t exactly easy! But I wanted to show my appreciation for the quality of service.
Now, since Kim (the owner) decided to stop doing nails herself and just manage the store, the entire experience has been downhill. I’ve been treated terribly by the other staff. I’ve been cut, insulted, and downright disrespected more times than I can count. I speak five languages, and I know how rude it is to talk in a language someone else can’t understand, but apparently, that’s been happening more and more here.
Last time I was there, I got cut on my wrist by the automatic nail filler, and they didn’t even care. I tell them I get coupons through my texts, and they act like I’m bothering them. I always bring a picture of what I want, but I end up settling for whatever the technician can barely do because they don’t know how to actually execute what I ask for. Like the girl who didn’t even know how to do ombré. How is that possible?!
Today I saw Tom. I showed him the picture I wanted, and he kept showing me my nails and telling me how “good” they looked, but they were so off. They were thick, uneven, and just… wrong. I even had Kim look at them, and she just said, “It’s pretty.” She didn’t even try to make it right. I was so disappointed.
And I HATE that I can’t tip them properly because I don’t even feel like they deserve it. I’ve always believed in blessing people who are doing their best, but at this point, I feel like I’m wasting my money. I can’t even afford to spend on nails that look this bad, and they can’t even paint them right. I showed Kim the mess tip paint all over my nails and asked her to fix it, and she just said, “That’s okay, leave it.” Leave it?!
It’s honestly frustrating because I’m paying for a service that I’m not getting anymore. Look at the picture I showed them, and look at the nails they gave me. It’s just not what it used to be. I’m done.

I an in a wheelchair and my hand is clenched from a stroke and they worked with me to do my nails and toes with no problems. Second time there and treated great both times and very nicce results and less expensive then elsewhere. Great job gals!

So many things went wrong unfortunately. I had good experiences here in the past but the last few times just weren't okay for me. This time though, I made an online appointment with all the things I wanted, gel mani pedi. When I got there, they still asked me like 5 times what I was getting and had me pick my treatments again and they weren't ready at the time I had scheduled so I had to wait (what's the point of making the appointment online??). Okay, not a huge deal. We start the pedi first and they tell me there's no hot water. 😕 Okay... We do the pedicure, she hurt me 3 different times. It happens right? Okay well, the whole time she keeps stopping to look out the window, look around, just not focusing (?), then she stopped at one point to put lotion on her feet ???? Then didn't wash her hands before continuing???? Okaaay.........umm. I am just not happy. Then we're almost to the end, they put the top coat on, and then filed the tips of my nails again. I didn't like that, my suspicion was they wouldn't last as long and I never had a place do that before. Well they didn't last long at all, literally the next day three of my nails chipped. As well as a lot of polish on my skin on my hands and feet. And to top it all off, they raised their prices, so I paid $100 for a painful, unsanitary pedicure, subpar service, and chipped messy nails.
This is all the honest truth, I've left maybe 3 bad reviews in my whole life and this was really a less than desirable experience especially for the price. I don't want anything from them, I'm not trying to bash them. This is just what happened. I don't care for this salon anymore unfortunately.
