Follow-Up Review — Continued Gaslighting, No Accountability
Looks like “Dave” is the CEO of Game Over.
So I got a response from the head honcho gaslighting.
This is a follow-up to my original review (please see my first post and screenshots for full context), because the way this store has continued to treat me is completely unprofessional.
I came in for a trade. I accepted the $20 offer—no reseller’s remorse whatsoever. I’ve said that from the beginning. I followed up because the experience didn’t feel right, and I wanted to understand how their trade process actually works—because it didn’t match what they promote.
Instead of a conversation or any accountability, I’ve been consistently insulted and gaslit.
The employee I dealt with gave a flat $20 offer with no item evaluation, no explanation, and no breakdown. He didn’t inspect anything, didn’t look anything up, and didn’t explain how that number was reached. And here’s the important part: he never once mentioned anything about “lot pricing”—until I brought it up. Only then did he shift the explanation to say they “buy in lots,” but that clearly wasn’t part of the initial discussion. That inconsistency alone says a lot.
Since then, a staff member named Dave responded to my email and doubled down on this false narrative of “reseller’s remorse.” Not once did he acknowledge my actual concern or take ownership of the experience I had. No manager reached out, no attempt was made to have a real conversation. Just repeated gaslighting and deflection.
Again—I wasn’t upset about the money. I knew what I was walking away with. What I’m frustrated by is the lack of transparency, professionalism, and respect. This was a missed opportunity to handle things with integrity, but instead, they chose to act defensive and dismissive.
As a lifelong gamer and someone with experience in the industry, I can confidently say: this is not a game store—it’s a pawn shop with retro branding, more focused on being “right” than being customer-centered.
I hope this review helps others understand exactly what to expect—and encourages the store to seriously reflect on how they treat the people keeping them in business.

Prices are a joke, you’d be better off making the drive to stores like Pink Gorilla or Another Castle. Even the nearby GameStop has games priced lower. The museum aspect is really cool, but otherwise, this feels like one of those stores that preys upon nostalgic folks who aren’t familiar with actual market values.

Probably some of the best customer service I've ever experienced! My son wanted to bring in some of his games that we no longer played and get some in store credit. Both representatives of Game Over were instantly engaging and attentive. Drew and Anne Marie, were knowledgeable, patient, funny and real! They have gained two customers for life ..
Thank you kindly for the much needed breathe of fresh air from todays self check out experience.

In case anyone else is planning to go during the afternoon, I got to the store at 3:35 and a sign on the door read that they were closed for lunch until 4 so I guess don’t come at this time. Not sure if their lunch is an hour or only thirty minutes. I’ve come here multiple times and never seen this happen. Wish their lunch hours were on their website or Google because I had to drive forty minutes to get here. What an absolute waste of a trip.

I lugged 3 boxes of retrogaming consoles and games to sell. They said they would need to inspect everything, but I guess that also meant opening a brand new Nintendo Switch and Nintendo DS consoles. They did not ask me permission to open them, and they didn't even buy them!!! Now they've lost a ton of resale value, because they were opened for no reason at all.
Their games and consoles are overpriced, and they're only interested in Gameboys anyway, so idk why they just didn't tell me that when I called them.
Update: Their response is a complete and insulting lie. You think I would confuse you with a GameStop!?!?! The employees called you on the phone multiple times to see what you wanted to buy. I brought in three bins of stuff to sell, spent two hours there and they only bought the gameboys. They opened my sealed Nintendo Switch and Mario Maker 2DS boxes.

Store is alright. They don’t seem to price their games differently if they are complete or not and games in generic cases are priced the same as ones with original packaging. In addition pricing is generally pretty steep vs what I’ve observed at other retro game stores. Good news is the employees are very friendly and helpful. Just a lil pricey.

This is my go-to place for all of my used games and game systems that I buy for my son with autism. They are always great to deal with and they stand behind the stuff they sell. Good selection and well organized.

Sister brought in 3 boxes of games, consoles, with hundreds of games from nes, snes, psx, ps2 and up. Some sealed in box. Over 20 consoles. Was offered $300 cash without even going through it. Scammer lady with green hair made the offer with no research. Avoid these guys.Edit: If anything the owner says in their reply is in fact true. None of it was mentioned by aforementioned green haired lady. Instead an attempt to massively lowball a huge collection was offered. I’ll make another edit when another castle is finished sorting and making their offer. What does how much cash is on hand have to do with collection buying?Edit #2: Ended up getting $2,000 from another castle. That makes me furious with this place now. That’s such an insulting difference. Beware here folks. Hope everyone has a wonderful day.
