Wow, what a polar opposite experience from my last rental car adventure. The guy who works the counter here regularly is fantastic. Takes his time, answers all your questions thoughtfully — always providing the right level of information. By the right level of information, I mean to say that in some outfits, it is possible to leave out important details in your answers that can have dire financial consequences (late fees, rate changes, the inability to get unused rental days refunded if you pay in advance, etc). The Rental Car business model in general is set up opportunistically, and it capitalizes on uncertainty. There are a lot of logistical details that are difficult to navigate or understand without a bit of explanation, and nobody can make it through the typical Rental Car contract when they are en route somewhere or in a hurry. so having a representative who is honest and empathetic about your concerns is everythjng.I've had to rely on rental cars a lot lately while my van goes in and out of the shop, and I never know when the work will be finished. The first time I rented here I had prepaid, which limits your options if you end up needing fewer days than anticipated. The guy explained this to me so that I would know next time that it's better to overestimate the number of days you'll need the vehicle, and not to pre-pay. That way, I was able to be more strategic the second time I rented from them— and his helpfulness was why I came back to Avis a second time, and will continue to choose them over the other options at the airport. He also made sure I got a slightly bigger vehicle than initially planned so that I could accommodate my bicycle. His friendliness, integrity, and sincere desire to help are consistently above and beyond; I've really appreciated his guidance, and from the looks of the other reviews here, I'm not the only one!

Rude customer service. My 96 year old mother ended up in the hospital. I was under an hour late returning it but had to wait for agent to check me in. They charged me for an entire day for being late. No exceptions. Doesn’t matter if your family member is dying or not. They don’t care. No empathy, sympathy or compassion. Piss poor customer service. Asked for a supervisor and received the same rude attitude. Ridiculous. I will NEVER rent from them again and I will share that rude experience with everyone and advise them to not rent from you

Absolutely the worst customer service ever. They do not honor your car rental. Had 25 available cars on lot and wouldn’t honor the reservation I had. Horrible!!! Avoid at all cost. Enterprise was awesome!!! Extremely rude! Horrible company. Avoid.

I received a bigger car than I expected. It was a Wagoneer and it was in great condition also the car was very big and safe to drive. Also there was a full tank of gas. My kids loved the car and it was very clean. I would definitely use them again.

Matt at Avis was awesome at Bellingham airport. No nonsense. Very helpful in going over different options. Very patient. Noticed with multiple customers. Overall great customer service at airport and a superb start to our vacation!!

Rental car was an electric vehicle that was not fully charged. No apology or consideration for what I'd already traveled and had to sit for over an hour to get it to 80% because I had no idea where that would get me to. Vehicle should have been given to me fully charged per what the rental states it would be.

Renting at the Bellingham, WA airport was easy - great rate, friendly staff, free upgraded vehicle, and the car was close by (didn’t have to take a shuttle to get there). We would choose them again!

Bellingham was great. So fast. Sadly SeaTac Avis is not the same - charged for gas even when returned with a full tank.

I was severely overcharged, the company wrote down the wrong date and time of my return, and was only given a partial refund, not even half. Do not book with AVIS or Budget (same company).
