I had to bring in our cat to be put down and Village Veterinary Hospital was wonderful in a bad situation. I appreciated that they had a protocol for bringing the owners and their pet into the clinic that minimized contact with other people. The veterinary and the vet tech, were compassionate and patient while explaining the process. I was planning on using a local pet cremation business and they had the required paperwork for that business so that our cat could be picked up and I did not have to go to that business to make arrangements. I appreciate the efficiency that Village Veterinary Hospital was able to provide in providing the needed care to our cat, as well as me.

This is the absolute BEST hospital that I have EVER been to. My and most importantly, my cat Stella's go to are marvelous Dr van Winkle and fantastic Liam. You two are the dream team for Stella. She is TOTALLY relaxed with both of you. She is totally healthy because of you and so I only get to see you once a year. I am absolutely blown away with your care and honesty! I recommend you to everyone. Two different people have had appointments and are very happy. The third person will see Dr Van Winkle this Sunday. The front desk rocks also. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS VET!! THANK YOU! KEEP UP THE WONDERFUL WORK!

My experience with Village Veterinary Hospital was amazing! I called them in a panic because my frenchie's rabies vaccination expired and we weren't able to go across the border. We were out of town and not currently a patient but they fit us into their schedule that day and did a full exam. The staff there was extremely kind and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend!!

Our cat died from neglect by Village Vet & Dr. Lucas. Our cat had bladder issues in February--trouble urinating, some drops but clearly in pain. The emergency vet drained his bladder & prescribed some medication to relax his muscles/calm him down. He'd been doing well since. Few days ago, same issue. This time we caught it very early since we could recognize what was happening; still able to pee a little but struggling & licking himself. We call Village, explain his history & what's going on, that he's having trouble urinating but still able to pee a few drops. The condition itself is brought on by stress & gets worse quickly. However, because we noticed so early & informed the vet of his history, we trusted him in their care. Village originally said to bring him late in the day which was already weird (last time, another vet told us to bring him in immediately because it's life-threatening & gets worse quickly)--but then Village called right back to say there was an early cancellation & we could bring him in early. We brought him in around 9am. I had to work so we asked them to call my partner for updates/consent. Hours pass. We hear nothing. They try calling me. I tell my partner & she calls back. They tell her they'll call her back. This repeats. The first time, she was told that the vet was on lunch & would call, but that our cat had been helped & was resting comfortably. This led my partner to believe they had done something to drain his bladder & that the vet would simply be checking in. However, 1.5 hours pass, so my partner calls back again--same thing, told that the vet would call back soon. Over & over, every time my partner spoke to someone, they'd spend more time apologizing for the phone issues & putting my partner on hold when she was just trying to get updates. Around 3:20 my partner called again & was told the vet would call back in 30 min & we could pick our cat up at 5:30. At 4:50, the vet finally calls & tells my partner that we need to take our cat to the emergency vet because he needs a catheter procedure--something Village can do, but apparently cannot because it's too late in the day. He's been there since 9 am. We were told he'd be seen early. On the phone, Dr. Lucas essentially blames all his problems on diet. Yet, we've been following advice from the emergency vet in terms of diet & were informed that the condition is brought on by stress. Village asked nothing about stressors, didn't answer other questions, instead insisting that it's another condition, another cause. Honestly though, none of that even matters because in this emergency what he needs is to have his bladder drained so it doesn't totally block. Instead, all they did was a urinalysis--something we didn't consent to--& tried to re-diagnose the condition we already gave them records for. Because the condition is caused by stress & our cat has anxiety & was already in pain in this strange environment, we can only assume how awful his last day of life was sitting there with nothing being done, becoming more stressed until he was unable to urinate at all. When my partner went to pick him up, she was charged $172. She asked what for because they seemingly did nothing to help him while saying he now needs to go to the emergency vet because it's too late in the day. Tried to ask what happened, if anything was being prescribed (implied on the phone). The receptionist then went to talk to have the vet talk to my partner. Left her waiting for 20 min. My partner overheard them talking in the back, calling us "confusing." The receptionist came up & then relayed information about UTIs--unrelated--instead of the vet coming up to talk to my partner. Frustrated & with no real answers about what had happened at all that day, my partner paid & left so we could get our cat to the emergency vet. Village claimed they'd send information to the emergency vet but the only i

I have been going to Village vet for maybe 10+ years and will go nowhere else with my Pets. I typically use Dr. Trimble ( I love her) but have seen the other DR's too. Our Golden Retriever lost the hair on his chest and skin was weeping, after trying a few different things ( medicines etc.) the Dr. said we should change his food to a skin sensitivity prescription. By the time he was through 1/2 of the bag, his hair grew back and skin healed. This was 6 yrs. ago and he has never had another problem, he is still on the same food. I have 3 other dogs I take there and I am always confident they will take care of them for me. I know not everyone has had a positive experience, but the "Rants" posted are outrageous, I can't even imagine any of the DR's or Techs treating anyone or their Pets in the manner stated in the post. IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR ANIMAL'S WELL BEING YOU WILL NOT TAKE THEM HERE. I rescued a 4 pound very nervous and abused chihuahua from the humane society and she let out a small growl at the vet while we were there because the vet was trying to take her temperature anally and she was nervous. The vet then had three staff members come and hold my four pound dog down on the table and put a muzzle on her after I told her she didn't need to take her temperature if my dog was too scared. She said "ITS TOO LATE IF I DONT TAKE HER TEMPERATURE NOW SHE WILL THINK SHE IS IN CHARGE". I tried to comfort my dog in her nervousness by telling her she was "okay" and I was then scolded by the vet who told me I was encouraging her "aggression". When I tried to ask what I could to to help train her and her nervousness, she continued on to tell me that I will have to deal with this "poor choice in animal" for the rest of her life, and an animal "like that" cannot be trained. I came in scared as a first time dog owner with high hopes and a lot of questions. These vets were EXTREMELY RUDE she didn't want to answer any of my thoughtful questions and told me the answers were "obvious". Then muzzled my "aggressive" horrified 4 pound rescue dog and charged me immensely for it. I left crying that day never having been treated so poorly in my life. IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR ANIMAL DO NOT TAKE THEM HERE.

I can not adequately express the positive feelings I have for the vets, techs, and staff at Village Veterinary Hospital. ALL of the personnel we interacted with at Village Vet were professional, knowledgeable, compassionate, empathetic, sympathetic and most importantly their various skills were beyond compare. Before I begin my actual review I just want to say thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I arrived distraught at the hospital on Thursday morning with a VERY sick cat (Winston) at home whom I couldn't get in to the vet (at a different clinic) who had seen him two days before. Village Vet was able to admit Winston within the hour, and by the end of the day had conducted tests that showed Winston was in dire condition (i.e., a major obstruction somewhere in his stomach/intestines). Exploratory surgery would be necessary to possibly save his life, but because Winston is an older cat, my wife and I had decided to have him euthanized if costs to possibly save his life became too high. After a tearful consultation with Dr. Lucas, in which she offered several possible options for Winston's care (including euthanasia), a decision was made to perform the exploratory surgery. We agreed that if the cause of the intestinal obstruction was cancer, Winston would not be awakened from surgery. If the cause of the obstruction was something other than cancer, we would be able to talk to the surgeon during surgery to determine if we wanted to have the surgery continued. BEFORE the surgery took place, Dr. Lucas gave us SET costs for both the possible 'surgical' euthanasia and, in a better case, the surgical treatment itself. Winston did have an obstruction that was treatable, and I can definitively say that he is alive today because of Dr. Lucas and her fantastic team at Village Vet. His post operative treatment was exceptional, and at least 6-8 different tech and staff workers provided Winston (and me!) excellent care. These workers went above and beyond to get to know Winston and they all provided us both highly needed mental health care! I could say more, but I think I have made my point. Village Veterinary Hospital and its people are the BEST. Thank you again.

Initial visits were friendly and went well enough for two scared kitties. Staff was great and pricing is fair enough. I'll add more comments as I get to know them better.

Can't recommend them enough. In the months before our beloved Shiba girl passed away, they were so responsive, knowledgeable and kind. They would call the minute there were new lab results. They would call the same day if we had questions. All of the vets and staff cared about her. Their suggestions helped us do everything possible to improve her quality of life. And we can now look back with assurance that we did right by our precious pup. That is so comforting when grieving her loss.

I love this clinic! After a horrible experience at NorthShore, Village Vet has been nothing short of a godsend. The vets are thorough and willing to go above and beyond to take care of your pet. If it hadn't been for the sharp eyes of the techs, I would have never known about the mass growing on my dog's perianal gland until it was much larger. The techs noticed it almost immediately and gently brought it to my attention. When I was on the verge of tears and hastily making an appointment to look into the mass, they were kind and gentle. There was a mixup about the time slot for the surgery, and, without skipping a beat, they went moved appointments around to make it work out. The following surgery went well, and they handled all my silly, helicopter dog-parent questions with grace. I'm really lucky to have found a vet that loves my dog as much as I do and is so willing to go the extra mile for him. Thank you for all that you do, guys.

I have never had such excellent care for my pet. I highly recommend! Not only was there amazing customer service and compassionate, sensitive care, but my vet was incredibly competent, thorough and delicate with my older dog. Dr. Cindy Lucas is fabulous as is her entire clinic. I have had some rough experiences in town and so so happy to find this fine group of professionals!

I had a 15 1/2 yr. old service dog that was going to the rainbow bridge and was having trouble breathing my normal vet could not see her they said I had to make an appointment! I told them she was having trouble breathing and they seemed not to care!! So I called Village Veterinary Hospital and they got us right in!! Having not been there before I didn't know what to expect, we encountered the most kind, caring and thought help possible!! They had a room all ready when we got there with a big fluffy blanket on the floor all ready for my sweet Onyx girl! They took care of her right away and let use stay with her a long as we needed to, that touched my heart in a way that meant the world to me!! She was my everything for 15 1/2 years, my best friend, soul mate, companion, child and my world. They called the next day, and sent me a sympathy card, just thoughtful loving people!!!! Please let me take this opportunity to say Thank You from the heart it meant so much to me! I would send people there at anytime. Very professional and caring!!!
